My PSA is raised! What on earth does this mean? Is it prostate cancer? Is it prostate enlargement? This video takes you through what the prostate is, what PSA is, and what the readings mean, including percent free PSA. BPH can cause your PSA to rise and your doctor, GP or urologist will talk to you about what this means for you, and what to do next.

This is the best PSA-related video I’ve ever seen. Most “internet doctors” won’t even acknowledge that there is a specific age indexed normal PSA level above 4.

Very well explained - I like people who are not just knowledgeable but are able to impart that knowledge in a simple way that others can understand easily and that's what you just demonstrated - Thanks - God bless

This is really clear. Knowing the increase in the “normal” PSA at various ages is helpful.

Interval training, stress and riding a bicycle also raise the psa. I just got through reading information from New Zealand about psa. Sugar, coffee, hard running and stress raises psa.

Great presentation. PSA of 6.3 in a 63 year old means only BPH or possible Prostate cancer. Only free PSA will tell?(how low?).

Fire your doctor... It takes 10 to 15 years to fully developed. You probably won't even care at that point. I'm 66, in a similar situation. But my PSA is only 2.5 MRI shows possible cancer. I'm not doing biopsy. I'll check it again in 6 months. 1st thing the urologist suggested, let's do biopsy. It's a money scam, for the most part. Do your extension research🤔

I just got a 10.4 PSA result. First PSA test in 20 years. Second test a month later was 11.2 with 16% Free PSA. I'm 67. Excellent health. No symptoms. No family history. No biking recently. Prostate is smooth and soft. No bumps or lumps. No pain when massaging or at any time. Never found any blood in urine or stool. I suppose my prostate is a little bit enlarged, but it doesn’t feel like it is much larger than a walnut. I only need to get up once in the night and the flow is decent most of the time. Sometimes there is some urgency to go, so it must be a little enlarged. Can just an enlarged prostate be the cause of a PSA as high as 10? I've been doing vigorous prostate massage for a couple of years. I thought that might have caused the high PSA. How long would one have to stop massaging to let the PSA clear the system and retest? Some say a few days. Others have said 30-40 days. What else, besides cancer can cause a 10+ PSA? Herbs? Supplements? Blockage in the spermatic cord, seminal vesicles or ejaculatory ducts? I am waiting to see the Urologist. It takes weeks to get in to see one. Thanks!

@@papapiers1588 Have postponed the visit to the urologist. Trying some herbs and some time and will test again soon. I'm pretty convinced I don't have prostate cancer. My prostate is smooth as a baby's butt. Like feeling a ping pong ball. Although some say no herbs or supplements can shrink a prostate. It is cell tissue that has grown. They say herbs can't shrink it. ???

I’m not a doctor; just a prostate owner (😊). I recommend you get your urologist to order for you an ExoDx kit. ExoDx is a urine test. The lab looks for 3 biomarkers in the sample. The 3 biomarkers are highly indicative of aggressive, clinically significant prostate cancer. Your “score” on this urine test will tell you with about a 92% confidence level if you need a biopsy.

@@scottjackson163 Thanks for your reply. I finally saw the Urologist. He said my prostate was pretty big and he was 90% sure that was what was causing my high PSA. We decided to do the ExoDx at-home urine test. It came back with a score of 19, which is a little over their suggested cut-off point. I think it means I have a 19% chance of having cancer. I'm waiting to hear what my Urologist thinks. I'm not sure if that score warrants an MRI next, but I'm definitely not going to jump to a biopsy before an MRI. I read where recent studies have suggested there is actually LESS chance of cancer in large prostates. My PSA has been steady around 11 for nine months. now. If I had fast growing cancer, wouldn't it have shot up much higher in nine months? I will ask my Urologist that also.

Update. My Urologist says I have a pretty big prostate 100+ grams. He says he is 90% sure that is causing my high PSA. My PSA has ben stable, although high, for 9 months now, so I think he feels that indicates no aggressive cancer or it would have spiked higher in that time. If aggressive cancer, it usually doubles in 3-6 months. He says test PSA again in 6 months and see if it is still stable.
