Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games kzbin.infoUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

This is THE BEST series ever. Why? REAL LIFE. Not just quick video clips but real time training with a real new puppy. It’s like reality tv on puppy training. I love those moments when it’s just not perfect and you just gotta go with the flow. When I watch edited videos where it seems like the puppy listened in 5 mins it just doesn’t seem realistic. THIS is just awesome to watch!! Thank you!!! 😀❤️👍🙌

Clinging to these like a lifeline!! My 8 week German Shep mix can be so sweet one moment and a complete biting terror the next. I may not have toes by time the next episode is posted!! ; _ ; And now he's gotten to where he snaps at treats so forcefully that I'm super timid when trying to train with him. HEEEELP.
@tporters1
@tporters1 5 жыл бұрын
Zak did one video where he had the treat in his closed fist, which forced the bitey dog to start licking for the treat instead of biting/grabbing for it. While he slowly let the dog have the treat, he would repeat "Gentle" in a calm voice. I don't know if you can find the video, but I found it very helpful.

I am in week 20 with a very big boy who was a terrible biter. No aggressive biting, puppy chewing but his teeth are like razors and my arms were sliced to ribbons. The key is to walk away...even shut a door to get away. Leave him alone for even a minute. Being cut off from you is the biggest "punishment" for being bad. Mine learned very fast. You have to have zero tolerance for biting on you. Walk away. When he plays nice, dish out the rewards. And always, always, always keep something hand to stick in his moth as a substitute and prasise immediately when he bites the toy. He will learn fast thst biting you means no attention, biting the toy is good. Mine is a German mix too so I really understand.

The Summary Girl: Ep.3 Redirection: If your puppy is biting on something they shouldn't, like a carpet, redirect them with a treat or toy which they can chew on. This is also positive reinforcement for leaving what they shouldn't be biting. If they are chewing or your clothing, it is there way of saying "I'm bored and I want to interact with you." So take it as an opportunity to work on their fundamentals (e.g. look at me, sit) with a few simple and fun tricks (e.g. roll over, play dead, spin). Don't pull you puppy away from something they are chewing on. Teach them to leave it voluntarily. Training: Controlling your puppy's environment by keeping them on a leash and monitoring them during the early stages of communication building is essential. This will allow you to resolve unwanted behaviour and prevent it from occurring. Passive training can be your puppy just being calm and you spotting that and rewarding this. This will reinforce this behaviour. Tip- Try not to repeat commands often, instead wait it out and be exciting to your puppy so they are inclined to listen. Crate Training - Hold a treat in your hand and place it in the crate. When the put all there feet in, click and reward them. If they are feeling unsure, reward them for putting in a foot or two, until they feel confident to put all there paws in. Continue rewarding them for standing in the crate. Next you can tell them to lie down and reward them for it. Crate training can also be an opportunity to teach them to "relax" or "settle". Simply give them the command and click periodically while rewarding them with treats (or their lunch). You can also give them pets. Greet Politely - When working on polite greeting first access there default behaviour around a person. Be prepared to redirect them from any lace biting or unwanted behaviour. However, make sure your reward them for siting calmly and being pet. This also acts as a distraction to unwanted behaviour and shows them that the right way is even better then the wrong way. If they are persistent in biting the cuff of the person's jeans or shoes have them step back and redirect your puppy with a treat. Only reward them with a treat once they focus on you instead of the unwanted behaviour. Be mindful that puppies need a lot of human socialisation at a young age so try not to be strict with there manners. At this age any positive interaction is good. Socialisation: Reinforce positive interactions with people as much as possible, and try to introduce them to different kinds of people so they are comfortable around everyone. Free Play: It is essential for your puppy to learn and play by themselves.Hope this helps :) Make sure to sub to Zak George and buy his books for more info on Dog Training.

I have a special recall with my puppy. One of my parents’ cats have a VERY special meow. And my puppy often hears him and sees him, and wants to play, but the cat doesn’t. So I learned to copy the meow, and now if I make that meow he will come 100%. But it sounds pretty weird in social settings XD

@benfennell4251
@benfennell4251 5 жыл бұрын
I found an easy way to teach my Puppy to speak. She always barks when she gets on our couch. So I grabbed some treats, put on her on the couch, would say "Speak", then she would bark (because that's what she enjoys doing on the couch), "Yes" and reward. Repeat X times. Don't reward if they bark without being asked. She super quickly picked up on the game :)

@@benfennell4251 As a kid, I taught my dog to "grumble". He had a particular, higher-pitch howl-growl (and pursed lips), which I taught him to do instead of barking when he wanted something. It came from natural play sounds he made, so it was very easy for him to catch on to! Far cuter than the sharp play/attention bark, and much less annoying!

When training my puppy's, I have always given a quick yipe when puppy biting gets too hard. My thoughts are from pup to pup play, they let each other know when play gets too rough. Of course, on response and redirection after the yipe, I reward, but that has been successful for me.

Hi Zak! I saw that you were talking about making her a KZbin/Instagram star. First of all, she definitely has what it takes! She’s so cute! Second, if you want her to look at the camera, there is a simple trick. Depending on what kind of phone you have, you will want to buy cheep headphones that fit in it. Next cut the cord so that all that is left is the plug in part. Next, take one of her favorite toys (a ball works best) and glue it on the plug in part of the headphone. Next, plug it in and she will look at the ball attached to the phone, making it look like she is looking right into the camera. P.S Your videos helped me so much! Thanks!

Are we gonna get a more in depth video on the frisbee training? My 4-month-old Golden will chase it, but doesn't pick it up most of the time and I'm wondering if Inertia had this problem or not.

So glad my catahoula is out of the puppy phase, she would chew everything in sight (the rug, curtains, bedding...lol) if we didn't keep her occupied with training or an edible toy.

I remember the puppy biting days! I went through that with my puppy who is now 3 years old and fortunately out of that stage, lol! Little Inertia is so cute!

I taught my dog (also named Indie!) that 'okay' is her release word and I actually wish I had used something different! Only reason is because I say 'okay' in my natural day to day conversation, so if I have her at a sit stay by my side while I talk to someone, she sometimes will hear me say 'okay' to the other person and think i'm releasing her lol. Just food for thought! Definitely recommend having a release word for sure :)

Thats what my border collie puppy was like! Absolutely insane!!! The ankle chasing, lunging. Constant puppy mauling 😭. Glad we were able to work through that. Hes 6 months now and still bites occasionally but nowhere near as bad.

I tried your trick of replacing my puppy's biting with a toy, and it worked. He's still young, and I definitely don't want him to make a habit of toe biting.
