It’s refreshing to see a BW showing how even with relaxing our hair 3-4 times a year OR as needed for anyone’s particular texture isn’t a bad thing. I also appreciate that you never say that natural, non processed hair is bad, just sharing that healthy hair is the goal regardless of how anyone of us chooses to rock our tresses.

I just subscribed. I've been natural for over 3 years But I'm going back to relaxers in 2 months. I realized my relaxed hair was actually healthier than my natural hair now. I went natural because I was curious how I would look plus all my kid pictures with my hair natural my hair was always braided so I couldn't tell what texture I had. I like my natural hair but don't love it. I can't keep it moisturize and i get tons of single stand knots it tangles easily it's too much work to detangle 😩 and I miss my long hair. My relaxed hair used to be below bra strap. Sorry for venting but please stay relax I can't find team relax girls out there

I recently relaxed after being natural for 9 months. (I've been natural on and off for the past 15 years, by the way, sometimes for years at a time). I just had enough with the maintenance and to be honest, my hair was not healthy this time. I don't like anxiety associated with hair, so when I started to feel that "pressure," I took a step back and asked myself, "What do YOU want? How do YOU feel?" I felt pressure to grow it long and stay "natural." Well no MORE! I love short cuts, I hate the heat damage of straightening, hate all the gels and being stuck with curls if I want my hair straight, and I'm not a fan of weaves (for ME). Thank you for this content! For all those out there feeling stress and pressure about your hair, RELEASE. Do what YOU want and forget social media, family and friends' opinions, or society trends. RELEASE and DO YOU.

When I did relax we went from 15 minutes on the timer to 10 minutes. Started from the back to the front. My mom always noted my crown and front didn't need to be overly processed. I believe I would shampoo at least twice if not 3 times. Before I transitioned I was past WL. I miss my relaxed hair sometimes. But since I can maintain WL hair I am happy. Your hair is beautiful it's great your changing it up with a fresh cut.

Been following you for years, I had a set back because of all the years of a no lye relaxed(affirm sensitive scalp) but my current stylist used a lye run through process to help with all the calcium build up and a mini cut and my hair is so much better especially in the back. I was said to lose my length but it was worth it and I am back on track. She uses affirm lye and no lye from time to time now. Also switching to Carols Daughter products has worked wonders for me. I mainly use the monoi and Lisa's hair elixir line. I had to stock up on the latter because I believe its discontinuing now ): Also I go to a JC Penny salon since there are not many black stylist in Southwest Florida which was a bummer to learn when I moved down thete to start my legal career.

Tia Huntley I’m having a bit of an issue with Affirm. I have fine hair and now I don’t think it’s working for me anymore. Any advice?
@tiashadae11436 жыл бұрын
Personally I go to JC Penny Salon and I have a sylist that has been styling hair for decades. I have really coarse, thick hair so I would advise you to go to a sylist you trust to see if there is another relaxer line that may suit your hair type better. Also, my stylist switches up my routine regarding products once in a while because your body can sometimes "reject" a product shampoo, body wash, whatever from overuse which is why I rotate beauty products from time to time for better results imo at least.

Wow Tia. Seems like you’ve learned a lot. A setback is sometimes a blessing in disguise. What is your hair length now?

Your hair looks amazing! I’ve been following you for years. I’m still relaxing...can’t get myself to go natural. As long as my hair is healthy and growing I’m fine. I use the Linange line. Well texturizer and neutralizer. My hair is fine so I relax each section separately (4) 10 minutes per section. Seems long but it’s really not and i find it just works best for my hair so it doesn’t over process. Cowash, DC, air dry then style.

Your hair looks great. Relaxed hair is decreasing on the internet. There are a lot of people going back to relaxers or are relaxed but it is not represented on the internet. I think relaxed women don't' get on the internet because of the negativity. Where I live about half are relaxed now and rising. At church only 2 are natural now.

HereDianna That's why I say a lot of KZbinrs be lying. They had a girl on here who said she wanted to get off the natural hair bandwagon because it was a popular KZbinr who had many subscribers. She said the girl in the video showed her scalp and her hair in the video, but when she said that she saw this same girl in person it was a lace front wig. But on the video it looked real and people thought it was her natural hair but in person it isn't. I am natural but I don't idolized youtubers because a lot of them lie for subscribers. I stay natural because it is better for my natural hair, I don't have to worry for a chemical sinking through my brain causing something that should not be.

Love ur hair so healthy looking and long!! I relax every 6 months and like u I do let my neutralizer shampoo sit for a few min bfore I rinse several times. I use the ors kids relaxer which is pretty strong for my hair, but mild enough to leave texture in it, deep condition with ors hair mayo, & then leave in & moisturize. AND like u I'm not gonna say I will never go natural but I'm loving my hair. It's strong, healthy bra strap length and I'm working to get it long as yours!! Thx for video!!

Any tips for first time self relaxers? Every time I go to the salon to get my hair relaxed I feel like I’m playing Russian roulette. The last time I went to get my hair relaxed the lady complained that I still have texture which is why my hair is difficult to detangle and proceeded to run the relaxer (no lye) through the entire length of my hair including the the previous relaxed hair. Despite me telling her not to. I was able to catch her and she did one quadrant that way but my hair is falling out. Needless to say I am done with salon relaxing

I relaxed my hair in 2016. Til early twenty seventeen my hair was pretty healthy and about to grow past my bra (so mid Back?) But it began to thin out at the ends and become dry. I really didn't know anything much about hair care (especially for relaxed hair) so I was stuck and my mother (who believes she knows everything about anything) wanted me to cut my hair. So I did (just a little bit under my shoulder) and besides being pretty good for a few months it didn't work much, so it was cut again, about neck length. It was bouncy, much healthier and I was estatic and hoped that it would grow out and stay healthy. So, I started to search up videos about how to take care of relaxed hair. I got a few results so I asked my mum if we could purchase these products but my mum said they were 'cheap' and the everyday products I'd see here (I live In the Caribbean so we're kinda limited in terms of imported products but we have amazon so) . I'm just saying this because even thought my hair right now isn't in it's best condition, I am getting alot of help by watching your videos

Your hair looks amazing! Reminds me of when I used to relax my hair. Now I just periodically get a silk press of these kinky coils of mine and keep it as far away from humidity.😁 I can never say I'll never go back to "creamy crack" bc I did have a go to that made my hair shiny and thick(s&b botanicals) but I have never been okay with these neo-hair nazis in the comments of a lot of the videos I watch so it's nice to see you sticking to your guns and making them mad by looking so healthy with it! ❤💖❤

You have such beautiful hair. My hair is pretty great but it’s been breaking lately and I have used no-lye for so many years now. I recently started doing my own research on the difference between lye and no lye. I have now decided that a lye would be better for me. Just watching your video l, was really encouraging for me. I just relaxed after 2 years and I’m loving it! I have noticed my hair is pretty dry though 😕 (but it’s always been that way) so I’m trying to figure out how to retain moisture. But I used the just for kids no lye regular relaxer.
@HairliciousInc6 жыл бұрын
Monisha Vance to combat the dryness, try using a chelating shampoo to remove any calcium deposits from the hair due to the no Lye relaxer. Also, up your moisture levels by deep conditioning, Baggying, and moisturizing and sealing etc.

Excelent video. Have a question: It is true that we have to relaxed the 80% texture of my hair? I'm experiencing a lot of breakage.

Thank you so much but i heard that olive oil relaxer they say that is super strong. I'm kinda scared because I did some keratin and my hair are sensitive now

I have reached a growth plateau so I’m going back to basics. On a relaxer day I relax one half of my head then rinse and neutralize once and then do the same with the other half. This has not been working too well for me because I do get chemical burns so what I’ll do on my next relaxer day I’ll have my mom and my sister simultaneously work on both halves of my head so I can rinse and neutralize all of it in one step. Hopefully they agree and cooperate with me 🤞🏾

Do you ever get 'hot spots' when you relax? The last time my stylist relaxed me the front perimeter of my head was on fire during the neutralizing/rinsing phase and that was really unusual for me (usually I start getting that telltale 'hot' feeling in the crown area of my head). She did base me, but I"m wondering if the burning sensation was caused due to the fact that I wear my hair in a bun 99% of the time and the edges being pulled, even slightly as I do not do tight buns, caused issues. I was careful not to manipulate my hair in any way before the relaxer was applied and I also avoided caffeine as I heard that can cause burning scalps for some people. Anyway, your hair looks great and I might see if my stylist is willing to try that ORS relaxer--I normally use Affirm and it works well, but that burning the last time scared me (didn't scar me thank goodness LOL).

Hey girl love all your videos. I am going to relax my hair for the first time at home. Do you have any advice in terms of me using lye or no lye relaxer? Or any tips on how to base my scalp and or avoid getting the relaxer on my hair?

Hello, are you still using the Lye relaxer? I’ve used the no lye relaxer and I want to switch now. Do you think my hair will have different texture if I do so? Thank you

Is there a reason you used lye instead of no-lye relaxer?

@hairlicious I really want to start self relaxing my hair but I want to know how do you self relax the back of your hair without being able to see if your overlapping the relaxer on your already relaxed hair? I would greatly appreciate the info 😊

I relax my hair with my sisters help. I do the front of my hair and my sister does the back. Since I can’t see back there. Lol
