Two decades ago, I took an unpopular position in support of marriage equality when I was running for Governor of Massachusetts. It might have cost me the primary, but it was the right thing to do.

We should get our Cities into the same position our states are with Federal law. Vacate archaic county borders and simply divide states up by concentric and overlapping metropolis regions that are both city and county in duty but similar to states v. fed in exercising rights. Each city may differ by its majority populace vote. Texans are actually in Majority blue but the state is called red because red voters are so spread out. Which is obviously horrible for paying its emergency bills independently.

Thank you sir! Now can we talk about marriage equality in the disability community? When two SSI recipients get married, Social Security will slash their benefits because "people's expenses go down when they move in together." Never mind that their benefits are already well below the poverty line, or that policies forbid them to accumulate any savings or assets. The end result is that marriage is out of reach for SSI recipients, and they have to be very careful about even giving the appearance of being married or having a serious relationship. Personally I suspect it's a quiet holdover from the days of eugenics, but that's just my opinion. If marriage and family values are sacred, they should be for everyone.

Run again, Robert. Ill take two white dudes on the presidential ticket, if they're you and Bernie ;). Smart, progressive politics could fix most real issues in the US within a few decades (many could be changed overnight). Keep up the research, leave no stone or economic sector unturned. There's a lot to be dealt with, a lot of pain to be bourne, but a tremendous amount of hope to be found in the truths found in this channel. One area I'd love for Doc Riech to cover is the agricultural industry. Too many people know too little about the 1980's farm crisis, the shift in economic and conservation policies, and the traumatic repercussions that have rattled farm country, particularly the midwest. If politicians out here gave a damn, and wanted to speak truth to power, they could revolutionize politics in the rurual (red) midwest within a generation. We could have huge portions of the rural-forgotten hop on to progressive agendas. I make these statements based upon my rootedness in critical thinking and pursuit of education, as well as years spent as a farm kid and small farmer in the midwest-- an occupation I still proudly hold (despite my understanding of the flawed system I have to participate in). Please, please, do not abandon us as rednecks who can't be reasoned with. I want progressive change, i just want to make sure that small producer's, like myself (i recognize my bias) aren't left out of the discussion and process.

I'm not against the supreme court reversing decisions of previous courts. But a court with the same chief justice and mostly the same judges reversing a decision that isnt even that old would completely undermine their own authority and erase public trust in them

It’s not the governments business to say about who should marry who. Let them do as they wish. If you believe it is sinful it is our place as Christian’s to show the love of Christ. If the government is given the power to decide who marries who, what else could it be permitted to do? Separation of church and state! This is a huge issue amongst Christian’s that we say “rules for thee, but not for me!” In respect to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, ect. And turn people off majorly to Jesus.

Amazing man, I appreciate that you took the risk to defend an unpopular opinion, while politicians think of their popularity first. No matter what position we have about each law. We need different opinions but authentic honest ones that will debate and make the best decisions based on common interest and not personal interest.

I wonder what others think the unpopular opinion of today is? The policy we need to embrace in order to educate the public? For me it would be outlawing religion. It’s not a popular view, but it needs to be done.

When Court says they want to "reconsider" some ruling, they're telling political lawyers to bring a case they can use to write another law. They're also saying they could give a damn about precedent, which makes them perjurers because they *all* said they stand by precedent during the job interview. Also, they *not* have "lifetime appointments." The constitution says they "shall retain their offices under good behavior." Taking bribes isn't good behavior, neither is committing perjury. Both are felony crimes. Its also a federal crime for a judge to fail to recuse when they have an interest in the outcome, or have taken gifts from those who do. So Thomas and Alito can both be charged with crimes, tried before a regular trial court, imprisoned, and fired.
