REACTING TO THE ENGLAND EURO 2024 SQUAD. Gareth Southgate has selected his 26 man England squad for Euro 2024. With England set to face Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark in their group, can England finally win their first major tournament since 1966?

Hi George, I advice you don't get buzzing with the quality of the England squad on paper. Start worry about how Southgate can manage them efficiently. The squad is there but I worry about the coach after watching the Iceland game.

The only creative player on that squad yesterday was Palmer. Dropping Maddison which would be another creative player we could have used was a terrible decision. All we have now is pace and physicality but not much creativity. If Southgate doesn't play Palmer as a 10 forget about making it out of the group stage 😅😅😅

The problem of England is that they always wanted to go forward, they wanted to do it fast and efficiently. They don’t go sideways or backwards first in order to create the perfect situation to go forward. They think that doing more is inefficient. They wanted to get forward as quick as possible. As a result, they never get the ball forward in a perfect situation. Because they never create such situations. If the opponent’s defence is being dragged wide open, then making a pass becomes easy, and even a half decent pass would turn into a great chance. If the opponent defence is still in good shape, it’s difficult to make a pass, and even if you make a great pass, it won’t turn into a half decent chance. England always go forward against a defence that is still in good shape. They never think of going sideways and backwards to breakdown the defence first.

@@thierryhenry674 Rushing forward against a low block is not a smart move. You need ballers who don't rely on pace but can slow down the play and find ways to thread the ball through or create openings. Palmer can do that but i can't think of another one...Maddison was another one yet Southgate dropped him. Oh well it's coming home for sure as in England is coming home after the group stage conclusion lol.

There is a reason that Pep once said he wanted eleven attacking midfielders on the pitch. But it’s not just that. The whole tactics and mindset has to be changed.

Back line has taken a bit of a hit because of injuries, but this squad should still be favorites to win. But I think it won’t come home because of Southgate… he’s that bad. Even if his player selection is better, his tactics suck. I also think Tomori and Branthwaite would’ve been better choices at CB than everyone he took except Stones, I feel Maddison should’ve made it, and I don’t understand why he’s never acknowledged JWP’s existence

Ex Spanish player and LaMasia graduates are preferable. Tactics, 09-12 Barcelona, 17-20 ManCity, tiki taka. Bellingham is the closest player England have in terms of matching the Busquets skill set. He has played number 6 for Dortmund at times and also in youth football. Even if you don’t consider him a number 6, he has to be the one because no other players can do the Busquets job as good as he would. Foden, Palmer and Maddison can’t quite do that. Palmer can play the false 9 role like Fabregas did. RicoLewis and Trent can be the Zinchenko and Cancelo. Eze and Grealish are probably their most tricky wingers if you want some of Ronaldinho/Neymar magic in your team. Ramsdale, White and Stones are their most tiki taka capable GK and CBs.
