Tea is a reading essential for me, too. There's just something perfect about a hot cup of tea and a good book! I'm going to have to look into getting some book sleeves now. I carry a book with me everywhere, and I'm always worried about my books getting torn up in my backpack.

I just got my first ever book sleeves as a Valentine's day gift. Both of them are a cute Harry Potter themed bookshelf design. I got the one meant for normal sized books and the one meant for massive books like Harry Potter or Cassandra Clare, and I love them. I always had the same problem you have of never wanting to put books in my backpack but now I can put it in my backpack with no worries 😊

I have used the same off-white paint swatch for the last twelve years, since the wee days of eighth grade, as a bookmark. My friend started to draw their name on it, but got distracted, gave it to me to hang on to, put it in my book, and never looked back from there. Oddly enough, I designed a couple bookmarks a few years ago, but I think it's a bit precocious of me to use my own bookmark. Paint swatch crew, all the way.

I just love curling up in my recliner with my book, my current TBR pile within reach, my cozy throw, cozy socks, a hot cup of camomile tea, sourdough pretzel nuggets, a fun bookmark, colorful flags, and my daschund who loves to curl up on my lap. I like to match the music to the book. Like if there's a tv show or movie adaptation of the book I'll listen to that. I read the first few Outlander books by Diana Gabledon and I feel like the sound track made me so much more immersed in the story. When it comes to eating and reading, ebooks are a life saver cause all you need is one finger to swipe to the next page and no worries about getting a book dirty x

I will use a receipt or something similar if I don't have a bookmark handy but I do enjoy using bookmarks and have quite the collection as well. I love book sleeves and own five of them (three were from subscription boxes) that are a variety of sizes because I like to keep my books looking nice especially the soft covers. Book Beau has come out with a special one for ApollyCon that I really want along with a few new Harry Potter inspired ones :D . I do enjoy music occasionally when reading so will listen to classical or Celtic music or will put on an ASMR video that has the sound of rain and or a thunderstorm and a fire. I tend to use my phone as a paperweight as well and to listen to audiobooks which I always go through Libby for. I've been tempted to try other audiobook services but I don't listen to enough audiobooks for a subscription to be worth it. I love tea as well and will usually get tea at B&N to drink especially if I plan on spending some time reading there which is usually Iced Green Tea but I do like to jump around with tea flavors. I also enjoy using Goodreads and really helps me keep track of books I've read also I can record my progress on a book if I don't happen to have my book journal with me at the time.

I love listening to things while I read too! So most times I play HGTV in the background or I play ambience videos on KZbin (so like rainy day ambience, crackling fire ambience, cafe sounds ambience). I can’t seem to read in a totally quiet room, so some quiet ambience in the background helps !

My essentials include: a bookmark (sometimes my dog's tail will do the job, since I'm mostly reading in bed and he's always next to me), plastic tabs cause I like marking quotes I like, water or tea and sometimes a snack, though very rarely. Also, I use my phone to listen to music and to look up word definitions since English is my third language and sometimes I stumble upon unknown words and my curiosity will kill me if I don't look it up. I am a huge audiobook reader. I have a vision impairment so audio books are my best friend! I agree I can't just sit there and listen. I listen usually when getting ready in the morning and before bed, whenever I am in the car or def while cleaning or doing other chores. I have gone through more books since my vision impairment than I ever did when I was fully sighted

I got super happy when I saw the bookmark I hand made for you show up. My reading essentials are quite similar to yours. Bookmarks, Booksleeves, I have a notebook to write my bookish info in, I use Overdrive and Audible to listen to audiobooks. Tea and snacks are a must for me. I use highlighters in my notebook for my book notes. One downside is I cannot read physical books in the car because I get motion sickness. But I love to listen to books while driving.

My reading essentials include book sleeves (when I go out), bookmark, phone, and Goodreads. I use my phone to track how many hours I’ve read. I heard people are using other apps that are like Goodreads such as BookSloth but I like to stick to Goodreads. Although I’m interested in BookSloth for organizational purposes. I also like to match my bookmarks with my book. I can’t read and eat. I get too distracted. Same with music although sometimes I can put some ASMR in the background.

I use my phone a lot while reading too but more because I have a group chat with my other friends who like books where when reading we text things when we need to talk about it like when we’re falling over laughing at dialogue or a good character dies or when we’re making predictions or just ranting about random things😂

Drink and food are essentials as is goodreads. I use the app from my phone. I tend to use whatever I can as bookmarks. I own magnetic ones and a metal one with my initial on it, I have two that a friend made for me. I will use a random post-it or a scrap piece of paper or even another book sometimes. I'm not much if an audiobook reader. Those book darts seem interesting, I'm gonna have to look into those.

This video is great for me because I've amassed a small store of stationary and this helps be realistic about what I actually need. I've thrown books because it hurts to hold them while walking downstairs, so book cosy would be a good investment. I haven't used Goodreads in years because it's just hard to navigate and I hope they update it and turn it into something like Letterboxed, minus the subscription model of that site

I've tried the book darts for several months now and I can tell you that they are pretty much weightless. You might have to be a little cautious while putting them on depending on how thin the paper is but I've marked like 20 books so far and I have never had a ripped page neither from putting on nor from any weight. As I said you almost can't feel any weight even with 20 of them in one book as they are so incredibly thin, it's amazing ^-^

My true only essential when I’m reading is to have background noise when I read, whether it be music when I’m out and about or the TV on while at home. I just need background noise. (Fun story: when I was elementary school, it was really loud in my classroom and I still managed to read. When my teacher told the class to turn down the volume on their voices, she said something along the lines of “How MaryBeth is able to read with all this noise I’ll never know.” That was the one and only time someone has ever questioned how I am able to read with noise). Other than that, I don’t need much.

When I listen to my audibook, recently I've loved using a color by number app on my phone, I'm not the sort of person who can just focus on one thing at a time, so I can't just lie there and listen to my book, despite how much I love physical books I do find it really hard to focus on them and often find my mind wandering and can't remember half of what I read, I'm reading The Trials of Apollo at the minute and I honestly have forgotten so much already, I'm on book 4 and I barely remember the other books, aside from the big plot points.
