My RED Komodo vs The Canon c400 | Features or the final image?

I got my hands on the Canon C400 for the weekend and took some test shots to compare it with my Red Komodo. I wish I had more time with it since it looks great, but I was busy with another shoot. The rolloff on the c400 is slightly better on my eyes, but they are really close!

I prefer the image out of the red but that’s just my preference. It looks richer to me. But I know they’re both amazing cameras!

It's because the footage of the canon was brighter. And comparing it to 4K crop sensor is not fair because of reduced image quality. And the richness you can add in post

@@user-cn8kc8pj9i I shot on an Arri Alexa the other day tho and I’m telling you that resolution doesn’t mean shit. A simple rec 709 conversion and the image feels so rich.

All of these are using 3rd party luts, that's why you can't see RED COLOR SCIENCE

I prefer the Komodo, better textures and richer colors. The C400 has more of a "broadcast" feel, whereas the Komodo delivers a more "filmic" look. However, for documentary filmmakers like me, image quality isn't the only factor. The C400 paired with the RF 24-105mm f/2.8 lens is revolutionary in this field and possibly the perfect setup for documentaries! I only wish that someday, they complete their cameras line up, by adding a body in the style of the FX3. For example, a R5C MKII with CLog2, better battery life, and also 16 stops of dynamic range.

you speaking complete sense! This is the setup I want too, C400 + R5CII with Clog 2 + RF 24-105 f/2.8 is the perfect setup for me, particularly as I have a bunch of other RF L lenses

We can't judge which one is better because he slaps in 3rd party luts, every luts from each manufacturers were created and specifically designed to show their true color science....... useless test

Great video! Canon just looks (and always looked) too digital. Komodo has a filmic texture to it that's beautiful which is what a cinema camera should look like. I think that's the only sauce that Canon is missing. That's my preference though, I know a lot of people like the Canon. But in my opinion a "Cinema" camera should look like a cinema camera, not a camcorder.

I guess you are the only person on earth who thinks that canon looks digital. Have you ever seen C200 Footage? Or C70, C300 or C500? It's very soft and it always was. RED footage is always super sharp, almost like photography. How does this footage look like a camcorder? An FX3/6 has more camcorder vibes than Canon cameras... No blaming but please deep a bit more unbiased into the canon film look
