My Response to Saintontas...Is Calcharo Bad?

Calcharo is a great character and if you enjoy him you shouldn't be afraid of missing out on the end game at all.
That being said the points made by Saintontas and other Wuthering Waves CCs and players are valid. There is no reason for a 5 star character like Calcharo to have so many stringent constraints to circumvent in order to live up to his full potential.
If Kuro games is willing the relax some of those constraints, or just give him a buff like bringing his switch cancelling while retaining buff mechanics back, that would be great! I am all for it.

Excellent insight and the fact that you've progressed this far without optimal healer, utilized supports other's deem bad and have done so many solo Calcharo runs shows you actually have skill and insight into the character. THANK YOU for showing how the echo set buffs in real time that was so helpful to know WHY and when heavy atks are optimal and all the buffs they trigger I'm still learning him but what I think CC's get wrong on tier lists is when they fail to differentiate that Calcharo played optimally should be S tier, but Calcharo played lazily is A tier - or at least make two separate lists of just raw DPS vs easier dps. (I think he's only calced 1k less dmg than Jiyan (although both of them are like several K less than Jinhsi so I guess maybe she's the new S tier lol) ALSO, dps on paper does NOT translate the same in practice when there is interruption, parrying, dodge, etc...but i will say Calcharo is easier to play than CC's make him out to be I don't have a problem gaining forte for him but I do struggle to use forte without the risk of it taking too long and getting pummeled - I'm also on mobile with controller so I get button delay (plus my own skill issues hahaha)

I agree, Calcharo gets underestimated. That being said, I can’t disagree with some CCs simply stating that : “he’s a badass and we would just like for him to be a bit easier to use to his full potential” Hey, why not! If the devs make my life easier on a character I’ve already heavily invested in, I’ll be happy 😅

@@horg7203 Yeah delay is rough but I feel like clicking a mouse is harder than controller buttons ha True, the criticisms are valid where his kit conflicts with the game mechanics and punishes dmg for it - he should have interruption resistance during forte at the very least either way I'm thankful for players like you who take the time to break down kits step by step so I can get better!

Imo If he ever get leap (pgr term, like a post release upgrade system) His judgement cut should be His slam should be dmg resistance by 50% at least Dodge cancelling his slam should not lose all stacks His non ultimate slam should deal more dmg In my opinion after over 100hrs of playing him at least

The thing about meta perspective most especially in gacha games is that if you're not the absolute best, a lot of people will call you trash. That's just the thing with gacha games. But it doesn't make it true. It's just not "optimal", but it by no means makes something bad, "bad" is just the word that people throw around to say that a certain thing is not "the best". BUT there are actual characters that are considered "bad" for real and that is mostly because a lot of characters are better than them and out of the batch, they are at the bottom of the barrel aka the ones that you commonly see in the bottom of a tier list. But even during that case, it does not mean that the game is unplayable if you use the absolute bottom tier characters. It's just slightly harder, takes more effort and skill. Just a slightly different example, in Pokemon, Caterpie, one of the weakest pokemon of all time, probably within Top 3 weakest, weaker than Magikarp. But you can still beat quite a few pokemon games SOLO with just a Caterpie. You don't miss out on anything if you use something weak, you just have to be better yourself if you choose to use them.

I just see so many comments of people saying they feel tilted because they pulled Calcharo and it’s really not that bad. Even less so if you actually like him as a character and enjoy his style. TLDR : play the characters you enjoy!

Just beat impermanence heron hologram 6 with Calcharo, Yinlin, and Jianxin. Food buffs, sure, but that’s 0 sequence Calcharo with a battle pass weapon. Wait till I try him out with the new Jinhsi signature weapon I just pulled 😂

@@gyamfid.k5070also to clear a few things up : Calcharo out DPS’ Chixia and Danjin objectively at every single equivalent stage in their resonance chain. These are just plain and simple numbers. You can find them in a number of places including prydwen. Further, neither one of those characters can kill a difficulty 6 monkey S0 or S1. An S4 and S5 character with R3+ weapon is supposed to be strong. That’s how this works. Again, the issue is not his DPS.

@@horg7203 oh I mention the 4 stars to counter his point of calcharo clears so he’s good. You can clear content with just the 4 stars too that doesn’t make them good. There’s a scale of reference 🤷🏽‍♀️. Also even tho awful might be an exaggeration I still stand by it. 😂 they might have wasted a really well designed characters potential with all of these issues. Reason being theoretically speaking calcharo should outdps encore. But in a real battle more often than not encore tops him. He has 0 leeway in his kit esp on mobile 😂😭

Cal is the reason I started to play the game. I saw the character and I fell totally in love with his design (and with him, why not). I started to play since 1.1 patch so I don't have Yinlin, but even with that, I feel the potential on Cal's damage. Even if I have a better geared Jinhsi (266% crit damage and 50% crit rate; almost perfect echoes with just the power of being lucky with her), I find her a bit boring to play cuz everything is just so simple, that's why I enjoy so much Cal. He's hard, rewarding and funny to play. But ye. We all want a buff for him. He deserve it and its unfair for a 5* character to have so many constraints to play optimal with him.

fellow f2p here. I absolutely don't mind if my calcharo isn´t dealing dmg like Jiyan or jinhsi alone, he's a standard 5* character after all... but what I do mind is the gameplay when parrying and not dying while doing his combos is next to impossible/holds significant dmg loss due to swap canceling. Danjin - a 4* character - can build up forte bar out of combat and has good parry animations and a very nice dodge counter attack, not even talking about the crazy solo dmg lmao. It's insane to me I can't 3 star clear the left tower with lvl 80 5* characters and their best in slot weapons (calcharo - lustrous razor, Yinlin - string master, Verina - variation). Im happy if I get out 2 DMs while fighting Aix lmao. Buffing yinlin´s outro to apply even after the resonator is switched out would make her gamebreaking and kuro can't do that after the banner has ended, so we have to target calcharo. Dmg changes can not make up for the effort you have to put in to actually only hit his combos or dying lmao (dodging while attack cancelling and swap canceling everything in his ult state) so we need faster animations (to properly parry, a core mechanic of this game) and for DM idk exactly what we need. If we buff/change his inherent skill so calcharo doesn't lose buffs while being swap cancelled in his DMs, that would take him back to CBT2 levels of broken and we don´t need that. So how about the animation gaining invincibility? Before you scream at me, the attack is still slow and can miss, but at least you don´t get hit and as we know, kuro doesn't appreciate swap cancels because it adds too much try hard mechanics into a casual gacha game, so this would encourage the player to stay on calcharo and not do swap cancels as well as not dying. Im Fine with DMs being kinda clunky - I mean the animations looks hella sick - but let his basics/skill have a fast start-up for parrying at least.. I don't think dodging/dodge counters should give forte/ult forte bar, because that would make him too broken (too many DMs), you can just cancel your dodge counter with skill and making skill give forte bar in his ult would make much more sense than dodge counters lmao. Do I love playing the absolute most mechanical characters in a game and tryharding the fuck out of it? Yes, absolutely, just like I do in other games, but the reward for this high skill ceiling gameplay in WuWa is a damage loss... like wtf

* as I can see from this video, he was able to 3 star clear Aix but that´s because of his godlike echoes lmao. Ive been farming exclusively electro echoes since day 1 and still haven't acquired a build even close to his, as a f2p the scarce resources are also kicking in like crazy...that´s another issue but just as my text stated, it´s not so much about his dmg numbers, more about the gameplay.

@@pikachichu__ I’ve done pretty much all content with either solo Calcharo or Yinlin (with 4 star weapon Jkeeper, no string master) and Baizhi… If you aren’t able to clear with Yinlin (string master) , Calcharo (lustrous razer) and Verina with variation then something is seriously wrong with the rotation you are using! 04:45 - Pretty sure you found a bug there. Heavy and Skill seems to be two separate stacks instead of one combinded one. In the Void Thunder set. I did check the other sets with similar effects, Sun-sinking Eclipse and Freezing Frost, and im pretty sure Void Thunder is not working as intended. Hopefully a bug report will get it fixed. I also checked Autumntrace, for fun. And it seems to work like it should. (You can use Basic and/or Heavy to gain all stacks) Void Thunder - Upon using Heavy Attack or Resonance Skill. This effect stacks up to 2 times Heavy or Skill cannot be used in succesion to gain all stacks. Heavy - 70 / 85 / * Skill - 70 / 85 / * Note* - to get full effect (30%) you need to use Heavy AND Skill. As shown in the video. Sun-sinking Eclipse - Upon using Basic Attack or Heavy Attack. This effect stacks up to 4 times Basic or Heavy can be used in succesion to gain all stacks. Basic - 40 / 47,5 / 55 / 62,5 / 70 Heavy - 40 / 55 / 70 Freezing Frost - Upon using Basic Attack or Heavy Attack. Calcharo is not bad in terms of DMG, because his DMG is insane. It's his liberation punishing the player to dodge counter, because you can lose an entire DM cast because of the time loss. This issue is more for higher ping players like one of my friends. Also that his enhance intro skill has a huge animation, but no time stop or time slow. I'm sure it ends up being a DPS loss right?

funny thing with "meta" is that it's essentially calculating who makes the game easier...which in a way, is not really a boast (for those who seem to turn it into a sense of security/prowess). So you can have meta characters for easier gameplay, or meta players who choose higher difficulty lol Games are meant to be fun and some characters feel fun because they are powerful, complicated, easy, fluid movements, etc.... That's why I'm building Aalto for fun, I like the way he moves even though I don't need him on any of the teams I'm building lol

As a Carlo connoisseur, can you do a weapon comparison? some say Lusty sword is good but the attack substat dragged it down, which leaves us with Verdant sword that has 48 crit dmg and 24 dmg boost for heavy atk (to build up thndr set), Then we got Jinshis sword which has 24 crit rate and sum goofy ahh 48% Skill damage boost, Plus Both of them have permanent 12% atk boost unlike Lusty which only boost 21% Liberation dmg when using skills at full stack, and some energy regen. Then there's also a debate about which set to use between Lingering and thunder, since we now know Thndr require heavy attack to stack people start talking about the lingering set becoming superior since you don't have to risk being vulnerable to do heavy (some aren't swift with their hands) so lingering set removes that extra hassle, plus 60% Outro dmg which fits Calcharo very well since he currently got the best outro dps with how quick it is (195.98%+391.96% of atk) so whats your take on this?

@@kraney195 I personally prefer void thunder on him. You don’t need to play out the entire heavy animation to get the buff either. If the argument with lingering is that you don’t need to heavy, then just don’t heavy with void thunder either! As soon as you cast it you can cancel the animation and still get the buff! Even if elemental skill generates forte, it's useless as u want to swap cancel DM and elemental skill goes into cd for the 3rd dm, if he retains the outro buffs even when swapped out during his ult, it would make him really good.

hey dude, i've been coocking of a good change that can make calcharo smooth, because he looses most of his dmg if he can't do mercy/heavy attck forte or death messenger (resonance ult mercy i guess) if you dodge, my problem is that you cant continuously do this damage when fighting bosses, its to risky, you'd have to wait 10 years just for them to stop attacking or maybe they wont, also because of how long the animation of it is, so my solution is just make the echoes that calcharo summon do the mercy, maybe just in his ult would be very nice, now there would be no risks or waiting which would definitely feel alot more smoother or easier, anyway do you have more thoughts or changes the devs or kuro gamescould make? and not to change? good vid

We really can't deny that he was nerfed so bad compared to his CBT version. If you are just a push button player, you gonna have a problem since his skill ceiling is so high now compared to Encore(standard banner) but I still find him fun to play. I've managed to beat Floor 4 Aix and Heron using him, and yes, I do believe we can beat Floor 2 Beringal too if only we have more Verina 😂Currently sitting at 12/5/12 at tower. Wishing Zezhi will be on par with Verina in terms of supporting.

@@horg7203 I tried using s6 Mortefi as Verina replacement for Heron floor. Worked quite well got a video for it, even though I forgot to swap his gun to ori type2 to proc rejuv seat (need to dodge to proc). I think you can try any 4 star s6 as long as they have atk buff for sequence 6. I believe you can do it well since you are a highly skilled Calcharo main 💪

I can never make sense the term "nerf" on him based on CBT which we all know a stage where game not considered being live yet. but if it's "adjustment" it'll be make more sense since the "T" on "CBT" literally mean "Test" to measure what's good to keep and what's necessary to adjust so the game balance didn't broke the moment they're live

I think even if they are planning to implement this, they probably will not do it this early in the game, although I really hope they buff calcharo now.

@@reyn471 not really, it’s different. Tower is just a stat check mostly. Holograms starting at difficulty 4/5 start to get very challenging and are much closer to fights in a souls-like game than anything you’d find in a gacha game. Basically : Tower = do you have the stats for this/do you have the characters (and enough of them) for this Hologram = your wallet has no power here, welcome to hell.
