This hotel was the highlight of my stay in Kyoto. I was there last year and it was soooo good. I decided to go there again in May/June this year. Experience was again top class. It’s about 100€/night but the onsen, breakfast, massage chairs, the atmosphere.. etc etc. I will definitely go there again next year. I love Kyoto so much❤

I am not sure. 😅 But I am pretty sure if you don't say anything and just go in, how will they know?

@@azntoogood If you had read the instructions (in English) in the room for the Natural Hotspring, you would have noted that the last item reads "The hotspring is not available for persons with tattoos." If another guest were to be using the hot spring at the same time as a person with one or more tattoos and the guest were to inform the management of the situation, one of the hotel employees would come to the hot spring and insist that the person with tattoos leave the hot spring immediately. I also note the "No Tattoo" in the onsen rule is stated immediately below the "No Camera" in the onsen rules shown later in Chinese, Korean, English and, in small print Japanese. Clearly, our reviewers did not read the rules with sufficient care.

Some Japanese people are quite wary of foreigners already. We should do our best to respect their customs. Tattoos are viewed as adjacent to the Yukuza (a crime organization) customs, so it's not a custom to be taken lightly. Assume that tattoos are not allowed and ask if unsure. Some places and private onsens will accept, but public ones generally not.

I was there. They have tatoo stickers. Biggest one was about 4” x 4”.
