You were in my dream last night. I was in a car riding to California from New York and saw you at a gas station. You were headed in the same direction so I offered a ride. My dad was confused when you got into the car with us and normally I would be very anxious about such a situation, but not this time. I knew you'd be incredibly polite and agreeable so I had no worries in my mind, even though my dad never quite understood who reviewbrah was or what he did, we had such a pleasant trip. Amtrak is an incredible experience. Their designs are so thoughtful and convenient, their accommodations are so spacious compared to any other mode of travel, and their staff are so courteous. The view is incredible, the food is wonderful, and I really don't have a single bad thing to say about it. The one thing missing from this review--which is understandable given that you had a private room--is that I always meet the most interesting people on the train. I'm not a social person and have a hard time making new friends, but there's something about the train in America: People don't take it unless they want to. Planes are faster, and cars offer more freedom. So the train tends to attract all sorts of interesting people who specifically want to ride the train. I've had such fascinating conversations over the years. On one occasion I remember talking to a student who wanted to build peace in the Middle East and intended to move to Libya. This was before the Arab Spring and the revolution there. I wonder what became of her. On another occasion I remember once sharing lunch in the dining car with an old woman who had ridden the train many a time in her life, and this was her last ride. She wanted to do it once more for old time's sake. Such interesting people! You'll never be disappointed if you ride the train with goodwill, and good attitude, an appreciation for the little things, and--fair enough--a good eight hours of extra padding in your travel planning, to account for those delays.
@SweetLuv13554 жыл бұрын
Same here. I dont really like the chit chatter much, so train rides are a nice pace 4 me to just listen to music, watch movies and just take my time getting to my destination. One particular train ride I met 2 sisters in their 70's. They said since children they loved to ride the trains. I was so intrigued by these women, full of life and both had a sense of humor. They offered me gin and chips😂😌 it was so much fun. I hope all is well with them. Such lovely ladies.

I took my daughter on the Coast Starlight, Los Angeles to Seattle, when she was 4. I had to go on business. We had the roommette with the bathroom down the hall, but the bedroom units were empty, so we used those bathrooms. The diner food car was good. There was a complimentary snack basket in the roommette upon arrival...fruit, candy, wine. The porters, as they were then called, pretty much adopted us and took good care of us. We had a lot of fun, and even though it was years ago, she still remembers it. Glad you enjoyed.

I took the Amtrak from boston to LA. Amtrak is incredible. The architecture of the stations make the journey of the experience for me. Albert Khan is a legend.

Been on the Amtrak from Los Angeles to San Antonio many times, you're right about the food! You plan your day around breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always had great service from all levels of service and hospitality. Slept like a baby even when the train was bumpy - like being rocked like a baby. You meet alot of great people too, especially in the dining car. Alot of stops that last forever. Used to have a smoking car - I wonder if they have those still

I rode Amtrak for 18 hours, and I can say that even riding in Coach was a good experience. The chairs reclined back and it was for the most part pretty quiet at night. And the cafe car offers different snacks for reasonable prices so you can lounge in the viewing car and enjoy the view while eating and reading. Because there was no wifi on board the train I was on, I talked to the other passengers instead and heard some cool stories. And if you want a meal, the prices for the dining car are pretty reasonable to, and the food is good. Or you can bring your own snacks or drinks as you want. Overall, for the price it was an interestingly calm and fun experience!

Reviewbrah, If you would've just voiced over the entire video without preface, this would be a perfect video. You could have just paused at a screenshot of the food, and talked about it for 3 minutes, no need for explanations of equipment issues. I have no problem looking at a steak picture for 3 minutes. You do a great voice over. No need for excuses, as you already have the talent.

Very surprising how it looks! Coming from Germany (our Europe in general), trains are one of the main sources of transportation.
@juliusfucik40114 жыл бұрын
I am from Europe too. Amtrak is really good. It does not get your everywhere and certainly not to work and back, but it is really comfortable. Americans strike up conversations on trains. They are so friendly. In Europe people on trains are mostly grumpy.
@GPXgirl4 жыл бұрын
100% agree, the food is fantastic, the place is neat and clean, everyone is friendly, amazing service and it's such a relaxing ride. Love falling asleep to the relaxing train whistle and motion at night. All things you could never say about traveling by plane in the US.
