Thanks for a great video and congratulations on your purchase. The Sig P220 SAO LEGION 45 ACP is a good choice for those who don’t want to fuss with a 1911 of similar price. After my second pistol purchase, I used laser cartridges in the chamber to figure out the trigger control ergonomics of different pistols. This made dry fire practice better and practice with live rounds cheaper.

Just bought the 229 sao to go with my 226 sao. Just an awesome line of firearms. Not a big fan of 45 caliber but I might look into this. Also, oil that frame and slide and let it sit for 24 hours. Helps protect the finish from drying out.

Have the P220, made in Germany model, purchased for $485 as LGS. Sent to Sig for 'upgrade'. Short Reset Trigger, Gunsmithing the action and sights. It shoots the lights out and is a college payment less than the Legion. Save the bucks if interested in performance vs cute grip insignia. Go w/std P220 with performance upgrades.

@steved5518 Good way to upgrade. My friends did the same thing you did with their older Sigs. At the time I purchased the Legion, Sig discontinued the SAO versions called the Hunter. I have several Sigs, but no SAO models. Can anybody speak to how the safety feels? I also have a 1911, so I’m curious how it compares. The only think I don’t like about sigs is I have a tendency to ride the slide release and I’m worried that after shooting 1911s I’ll have more problems. BTW: Sig uses a “combat” sight picture. They use the front circle to put on the target around 10-15 yards. They have a better description, but there’s plenty of articles and KZbin videos on it.

@wjjohns04able Think of the safety as a 1911 safety. I shoot it with my thumb rested on the safety. No issues. Try to shoot a rental, you'll enjoy shooting it. Yes, Sig uses a combat sight picture. I use what the Sig manual says for sight picture for point of aim etc. I haven't had any issues. For my shooting style, if I use a 6 o'clock hold, I'm too low,.off the center of the target. If I cover the bulls eyes with the front sight it's dead on. That's just my shooting style, yours will vary. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciate it!

Kinda funny way back in the day I qualified with a P220 ( old version) as my first off duty handgun while in the police academy circa 1988. Back then we carried the P226 as a duty gun. @Bill Keouh Absolutely. Sig's Legion SAO line P220, P226, and P229 work the same way. Put the safety on, load a magazine, then rack the slide. There will be a live round in the chamber. If you want to unload with the safety on, just eject the magazine and rack the the slide with the safety on and the live round will eject. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciate it!

The p220 is awesome. And I've always felt the p227 had the potential to be another amazing pistol. I just never understood the way they made options available on the p227.🤔 1. The tactical didn't 'originally' have front serrations or the option to come optic ready. 2. The variants with front serrations weren't available with a threaded barrel or optic ready. 3. The p227 rx wasn't available with a threaded barrel or front serrations. 4. The nail in the coffin was they then offered the p220 in *10mm!* and in a Legion variant. It's like sig made the p227 and almost single handedly did whatever they could to undermine it. A. If sig would have offered the p227 with a culmination of features I would have bought a p227 instead of an 'FN FNX 45 tactical'. B. If Sig would have offered the p227 in 10mm I would have bought a p227 instead of a 'Tanfoglio Witness Stock III'. IDK, maybe it's just me.😕

@EndingAnthem I have the P227 as well, it's roughly the same size all around like the P226. Very good shooter. You can use the same holsters in some cases. The Legion offers more refinements such as the trigger, sights, grip, checkering, and beaver tail. I think it's a good upgrade but pricey depending where your shop. yours actually looks to have the old pvd coating that is easier to wear off the gun, when was it made? in the past year or so they have started using a grey/green cerakote instead of the grey pvd coat because it is more durable. i got a 226 rx legion a few weeks ago that has the new coat and a few days ago i got a regular 226 legion but it was made 3 years ago. it was still new but had the old coat but nest to each other they are very noticeably different colors and the newer one is more shiny and more durable but the old one i think looks a bit better. i love both but i wish the old one was more durable as my 226 had dried up by the time i got it so the first rack back caused me to lose coating on the frame fortunately it is under the slide mostly and is only a little visible when locked back. Also i have noticed that the 226 made a few years ago has a bit slimmer handle and grips that feel better in hand and after close comparison side by side after taking the magazines out i confirmed that the newer ones grips stick out a bit wider, still feels good but the older made one feels perfect, both i got brand new. I decided i will just recoat the one made 3 years back when the time comes as i love the way it feels slightly more, i mean it is perfect. Both are SAO also, wouldn't have them any other way and i plan on getting a 220 legion soon too in 45 acp that is SAO as well. lol

Keanon Gilliam hmm yeah im not sure the exact date but they started the new coat in 2019 so some of thea earlier 2019s lookt to have it, also the serarions on the slide have been slightly altered to not have that rounding in them they are just all straight edged, but i only say tht cuz looking at yours it looks the color of my older one, which i actually prefer that color jus wish it was more durable, but as long as you dont bang it up too much the finish should last, apparently some were better than others. anyways nice video ive seen a few of yours now and when i hear you start talking and its you i usually tend to watch the review lol, nice job man, trying to get into making some videos myself jus recently got me a top notch camera

I know this is a .45... what makes this differ from the p226 legion?? Why is this with a rounded butt, but the p226 is not?

@KingOf Ny The regular P220 has the rounded butt and they just made the Legion version the same way. This dates back to 1975. The rounded butts started late 80s, early 90s to enhance grip and conceal ability. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciated!

P220 and P226 will feel different in the hand. P226 is a double stack 9mm and has a wider grip. The P220 is a single stack .45 ACP or 10mm and has a narrower grip.

That was my question.. sig p220 legion sao vs. 1911 they are almost the same gun. And for me the trigger reach is more important because I have med size hands and the reach for sig da/sa is hard to reach for first shot. So just wondering on how it compares to 1911 .. thanks

@@climber73127 Well this is different from the 'standard' P220 and P220 Legion. This is the P220 Legion that is 'single action only' like a 1911. If you're worried about trigger finger reach then the 1911 is your firearm and has a great trigger. The single action only on the Sig is like a hybrid of the 1911 so to speak. Most people don't like the beaver tail safety so the Sig would be a good choice. Thanks for watching!

I just got a p220 da/sa legion, slide release lever is very stiff. I don’t use it, sling shot the slide. Do you have the same problem, is this a p220 issue? I don’t understand why I can’t use the slide lock lever unless I push down really really hard.

In all honesty, your video wasn’t near as bad as some of the others I watched tonight on that exact same gun. I’ve been trying to get an honest, not “bought and paid for” review on that particular weapon and you gave that to me so I’m happy. Any recommendations on a drop-leg holster (brand, store to buy, etc) for the weapon?

@@gbuster8167 No worries. A company called TacticalGear (KZbin won't let us link) sells Blackhawk drop leg and thigh holsters. Opticsplanet sells Safariland drop leg and thigh holsters. Safariland site itself have a variety. When I was in law enforcement officers and SWAT Unit guys used Safariland.

The Legion has an oversized trigger guard for use with gloves and it has about a 20% larger profile than a commander style 1911. The Legion is nowhere near the size of a commander style 1911, I have no idea what you're seeing.
