Yes the doors open on the platform toward the last row of seats. The doors are very thin. Scroll ahead to around 17:08 or so and pause the video as I walk pass the open door. Pinch the paused screen in a little and you can there is not much space. Thanks for watching.

While all the fools are busy crashing in to each other and getting stuck in snow banks, train travelers speed on to their destination. Trains travel in intermediate snow falls even without the help of snow plows and, when the going gets rough, they simply plough the tracks. Weather immunity is one of many advantages of rail travel.

Nice new modern trains. Wish we could get new trains (And the train network) in Western Canada too. I could see this being busy running between Edmonton, Calgary and Banff. Unfortunately Canada is imbalanced in the rail network world, always has been, sadly.

One thing I notice that is a major safety hazard is the upper luggage rack, no dividers and no safety strap along the front. If there were ever to have an emergency brake activation luggage would be flying everywhere.

Great eye. So true. Thanks for watching. They have room to make the cup holders a little deeper in the pull down trays. This would prevent a few spills. Right now it seems it would not take much for one’s drink to get knocked over.

I find the updated ORC leather seat way too hard and a curse for shorter people, how are these seats? And I so wish they would give every seat those foot rests.

Lloyd I found the seats a little stiff. But I don’t have much commuter train experience to make a fair comparison. I am 5 foot nine and my travelling weight keeps increasing and is now 184 pounds lol. The seat size was good for someone my size. I did not see a need for foot rests for my 32 inch inseam. The head rest were comfy and the gadget plugs in were conveniently placed.

Looks like a seriously underwhelming "achievement" - how about a dedicated high speed corridor already. Or maybe lay one concrete sleeper, somewhere in Canada for pity's sake. I just watched a great video about Israeli high speed trains and it looked great.

I would rather have a reasonably fast train service that is reliable than a 'high speed' train line that is so expensive that it never gets built.

These are made in USA trains, and the ADA rules dictated wider aisles at the cost of narrower seats so wheelchair can traverse the whole car: the wheel chair doors to ground level are not in every car so wheelchair passengers need to traverse at one or more cars to get a to a door with the wheelchair lift.. And the seats, to save money, can't be reversed which means half the people travel backwards, When the LRCs were first introduced in 1981, they were like that and the public backlash forced VIA rail to rething this and make seats reversible or reverse the trains. VIA is repeating same mistake but the backlash now is lesser because they started to do this with the awful black seats on the LRCs. The inside of train is very aseptic and lighting is certainly not "luxury". The Montréal metro cars have more interesting lighting than the Siemens cars. Too bight inside the car = can't see outside at dusk/nighttime. The bike rack requires luggage be taken out of luggage rack , luggage rack be disassembled before bike can be hooked. Considering how much space is wasted around the car, you'd think they could have sqeeked the bike rack on its own (which can be used for skis in winter). The seats without window is not acceptable. Then again, VIA put curtains on LRCs that obscure half the windows.

Just more red tape rules for no good reason. It's very logical and simple to create an area that is fully accessible to wheelchair users without squishing the 99 percent of other pax in narrow seats. As seems to be the case with N American design there is simply a lack of knowledge about the subject matter called train. Perhaps upgrade the track and electrify and get with the times already Canada.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. It’s definitely a bit loud too and it over rides the announcements and train sounds which I dearly love. I feel my editing is getting a bit better but still needs work. Figuring out the sound and colour adjustments however is a a major piece of work in progress.
