Andrea C.I.C. Andrea C.I.C. I think that the whole point of her channel is to make you realize that you don't need as much products as you would think to look good ! You might have a less perfect skin but in this case, put a little concealer on your blemishes and don't cake all your face. Try and maybe you will see that Violette is right. And I think that she tells us what to use and not use. She applies cream blushes, cream and subtle highlighters.... You see so many beauty gurus putting heavy full coverage fondation, high coverage concealer and crazy BOOM highlighters.... but it looks so fake in real life!! I'm French and see makeup the way Violettes does. She inspires me to put less on my face, to go with my mood and to use the same kind of products she uses... you don't need 3 times more makeup to look like her :)

I never "cake up" nor exaggerate the look like most people nowadays, that's not what I meant, but I do have tons of blemished, rosacea and hyperpigmentations to cover. So, using concealer to cover each one of those, would make me look heavier because concealer is heavier, that's why foundation is the key in cases like that, I don't use tons of foundation, but I do use it all over the face, then I can spot conceal. Violette has perfect skin, so she can get away with just a little in some parts, but not everyone is like that, and the necessities may vary. Also, she looks like a model, so without makeup she still looks like she can walk the runway, that helps a lot!. I like her videos because she gives me ideas of colors and textures to use, but she's not the ideal makeup artist for people like me, instead, I listen to Lisa Eldridge for that matter, she has not have perfect skin, and she is older than Violette, so that's right up my alley. Thanks for the concern!. I'm latinamerican by the way, I went to Paris last fall and the makeup there is very Violettesk ;) beautiful

Andrea C.I.C. I think it’s all in the application. Using your fingers instead of a brush is going to give you a more natural finish even if you’re applying more product than Violet. It also helps to build up the product lightly so you get just enough to cover what’s necessary. I think the idea is to get it just right, not necessarily PERFECT. So a little blemish here and there is ok. Confidence is key!

On lighter skin days I like using the YSL Touché Eclat under my eyes and on areas of redness like the cheeks and chin. For whatever reason I'm like you too and end up applying foundation to my entire face, but the pen works really well for brightening and evening out skintone.

Violette, your video was a breath of fresh air. I follow many youtube makeup and beauty gurus -- who are superbly technical, and sometimes we want those brushes and extra techniques -- but I appreciated the finger-blending here, the more casual and light approach. I'm an American and I like my big things, but I really like your more relaxed approach -- I find it more modern (saves busy women time -- older women can do this look, too). Love the softened pinky red tones, and they are more accessible than what you would find in, say, a Jeffrey Starr video (btw, I'm also a fan of his -- that's where I go for high-drama techniques) but your tutorials are more suitable for real women everywhere, day to day. Merci!

The Stila liquid eyeshadow is called Glitter and Glow shade Next to Notte. It’s a limited edition shade and it might be gone soon. It is only sold on Stila website. I didn’t see it on Sephora or Ulta. Violette has told us before that her editors will put those shade names because that’s what they think they are and she’s forgotten which product she used. Not her fault! I just did my digging.

if you apply it right, it makes you look younger. Trust me just dont apply like the youtube gurus do, thats for a look that photgraphs well. For real looking skin, put a dot on under each eye and blend. Moisturizer is key btw for looking supple and young. Makeup always wears better with supple skin. I started putting aquaphor (just a tiny bit so it doesnt sperate my makeup) underneath my eyes and on my lids for a glossy effect and I look like ive slept 10 hours when its only 4!
