Unreal, I'm sat in the bath searching reviews on modern scooters and came across your video and couldn't believe my ears when you said you was going to Stockport College Motorcycles for your MOT. I started at Stockport College in 1986 and that was the goto place for parts servicing. Great to see he's still going strong and the inside of his shop still looks exactly the same all those years ago. Back in the day the building opposite was a shitty carpark and Remoco was a Hundred yards away. By the way, I'm bathing in Brisbane Australia Happy Days.

I have had a change of mind about the royalloy GT. I have decided to pay a bit more and go for the TG 125cc ac in burgundy and ivory. Have to wait until the end of the month for it to come in. I still like the GT, but as this will probably be the last scooter I buy. I thought i would go for the higher quality scooter.

I had the same problems , had the bearings replaced . Even after you loosen the steering, but after awhile our weight will cause the problem to arise again. Pls replace it immediately. My mechanic kept on insisting it is ok untill I told him to ride my bike . When he rode he understood what I was saying. Royal alloy should reimburse the repair. The bearings only caused $30sgd but the labour was the killer about $180 because it involved removing quite a lot . Hope you get your bearings fix, now my bike feels great . Can u believe that I was riding with the stiff bearing for a year.
@RoyalAlloyRider Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience of this. May I ask where did you source the bearings from ? Waa it MotoGB / Royal Alloy or an aftermarket off the shelf alternative ? I'm guessing mine will come up again on the next mot !!

Head bearings are a nightmare on these. Factory fitted bearings are too dry and they self tighten over time. TG's are the same and we have had to change bearings under warranty very often

My Yamaha MT01 developed notchy steering. They had used roller ball bearings instead of taper which had caused indentations in the upper casing.
@RoyalAlloyRider2 жыл бұрын
Hope you got it sorted Andrew. thanks for watching.🛵👍
@mrmoon1482 Жыл бұрын
Taper bearings still cause notches, it’s caused by impact from potholes and braking, using lighter oil in the forks to make them softer can make them last longer, most need to be replaced every 20.000 miles or so, I’ve used taper and ball bearings they both last about the same length of time, the taper bearings make more of a groove than a notch so you’ll definitely notice when your at low speeds it’s like getting your front wheel stuck in a tram line, then change them asap 👍

This is in my experience what an MOT tester says when theres nothing wrong with it and they need to create a job to 'fix'. Had a mate take his scooter to a garage in Stalybridge called oily bikers and they said the same, another mot tester in Oldham said nothing about the steering. Unfortunately sometimes you just have to go yeah 'okay' how much to 'fix' it, thanks. 😂👍😎 good stuff!

Over tight steering head bearings do seem to be quite common. When I bought my Milano one of the things I discovered immediately was over tight steering bearings. So much for the PDI the dealer hadn’t even test rode the bike as there was zero miles on the odometer. So it was down to me doing my own PDI with assistance from a mechanic I know and we adjusted by slackening off the bearings as they were over tight from the factory. I don’t think the dealer is still trading, there have been many negative reviews on Google about them and they’re not listed as a Lexmoto dealer any more.
@RoyalAlloyRider2 жыл бұрын
Terrible ! Sounds like they deserved to go out of business ! Thanks for sharing that Dave
@ipaddy2 жыл бұрын
Glad you managed to get it sorted yourself but the possibility reason your dealer is not showing up as a lexmoto Milano dealer is they are no longer producing that model but you can get nearly every thing for yours from any ajs Modena dealer
@AliasMrHackenbacker2 жыл бұрын
@@ipaddy I do get spares and accessories from either CMPO or AJS shop, both have given me excellent service. I’ve had the Milano nearly 6 years now with no real issues and the reliability has been great. This is my ride to work/shopping bike but have covered distances on scooter runs with my local club. The Milano and Modena are not in the same league as the Royal Alloy scooters build quality wise that’s probably why the E5 Modena is roughly £1000 less. The Royal Alloy scooters were not out on the market when I bought my Milano so I didn’t have to choose, I’ve not regretted buying the Milano in fact I would go as far to say it’s been one of my better purchasing decisions in many years of buying motorcycles and scooters.

When we stripped the scooter the state of the grease around the original bearings was shocking.. it was like some sort of real thick toffee.. replaced bearings and replaced with good quality grease and problem soughted.. well worth doing this job if you haven’t already.. you’ll be amazed at the bearing grease which the factory has used. in fact just do it…. And see… 😃👍🛵
