@tazinlwfl, I've notice the Plasma TV screens are warmer then the lcd and lcd/led TV in the store when I was doing my research. That is why it uses more energy. However, it is energy star and only uses 183 watts according the government spec for this model. The screen is warm but not hot, I also feel radiation heat when I get close. Also also have the video in movie mode which looks very nice to me, maybe you friend has an older model or has the video in vivid mode?

@MescalineMe, I picked the Plasma as you can see. I don't have any reflections problems because there no are light sources at angles where I could see a reflection. I also have not seen any burn-in problems. Search on "plasma vs lcd" on google and youtube

@jasonhchea, The C indicates it is a 2010 model. It should be cheaper now then when I got in last year. But you may only be able to get the D 2011 model.

@tmz90, I was unable to compare the PN58C8000 TV with the PN58C7000 side by side. As far as I know, the only difference between the two is the color of the bezel and the True Black Filter which reduces reflection for the screen. I ordered the TV over the internet but I'm sure places like Best Buys have it or can order it. I have very happy with the TV.

Thanks for summing up the differences, I agree. Depending on the size, I think the energy saving over a plasma is not that much. Sales people also like to promote the energy savings of LED over a LCD but you I look at the energy usage sticker, they saves only a few dollars a year.

@SuddenMovieImpact, I have not had any problems with the TV. I have had no burnin. I keep the TV is a little darker room when the one I did not video in. I useally have the TV in movie mode.
@MikesHDVideos

@SuddenMovieImpact, I've had the TV for about 6 months. LCD/LED has a plastic screen while plasma has a glass screen. I understand the glass screen is easier to break if is shipped improperly . You should never lay the screen flat because the weight of the glass also makes it easier to break.
@MikesHDVideos

@WaXzTRM, I've just checked and cannot see any burn-in. I keep it in a darker room then the one I took the video and I usually have it is "movie" mode which is less bright then the default.

Nice TV you got there. After doing research on Samsung's LED, I decided that this Samsung Plasma is the way to go for contrast ratio and viewing angle. Plus LED has issues as you named.

Continue, I connect the TV to my blu-ray and digital camera. All are different brands but use HDMI CEC. It is very nice to control all devises with one remote without havening to program any device codes. Also, when I turn on a device, the TV automatics switches the input to that device.

@Peter101282, I've heard year old technology is good for business. It almost as good as the latest but not as expensive. The Samsung C models are the 2010 models, the Ds are 2011 so you should get a good buy on the Cs but don't wait for too long.
@MikesHDVideos
@MikesHDVideos 13 жыл бұрын
@Peter101282, For example, I just got a sound system for the TV (KZbin video soon). During my research, I decided to get 2010 speakers. The internet prices where a lot cheaper for the 2010 but stock was low. However, I waited a while. The 2010s were out when I decided to get them, so I had to pay the big bucks for the 2011s which I don't think the speakers are much different.

@tachyian, I've tried it tonight. I did not see any change in brightness when I rotated my head 90 degrees, however, the 3D effect went away. This makes sense when you think about it. I also tried wearing the glasses upside down. The 3D effect was backwards, meaning what should be in from was now in back. It was a little nauseous so I stopped. This also makes sense when you think about it, both the backward 3D and the nausea. :)

@tazinlwfl The remote is pretty nicely designed and quite easy to clean even with a wet cloth, seeing how it doesn't have any of those spaces and openings in between the buttons like how most other remotes do. The heat from these new slim plasmas now only dissipates from the front of the screen and not from the back unlike the older plasmas from a few years back. The heat is very minimal due to the low power consumption, even when it's been on for several hours.

@supremfire31 no, the newer ones don't usually burn in anymore since most of them have screen savers and some new technology they put in them. I believe that LG and samsung are the 2 best plasma makers out.

I went to BestBuy and compared 3D TV from Panasonic and Samsung. The Pani was plasma and the Sami was LED. One thing that I've noticed was that when I watch 3D contents with a 3D glasses, if I rotate (or roll) my head like when you're lying on the couch, the video on the Sami darkens. It didn't occur for the Pani. I wonder if it was so because the Sami was LCD and the Pani was plasma Do you also experience this kind of darkening due to angle (not left to right angle but sort of polar angle...)?

Thanks, I have not checked recently but the link I give in my description gives the max power used by a model uses to qualify for the energy star. I know the power usage between Plasma, LCD, and LED is promoted more by sales men then the actual dollar amount difference.

I bought the 63" about 10 years ago... and it is still alive and well. I don't use it much for 3D viewing, but I do watch blu-ray movies and a whole lot of gaming on the Xbox One X. I don't regret owning this TV. It has served me well. I am looking to replace it with a bigger 4k/8k TV. Any Recommendations? I will pair up the TV with the Xbox Series X

@AalexX136 Actually, the glare on this TV isn't as bad as you think. Samsung put an anti-reflective filter on this model and it works reasonably well at cutting out most of the glare. Even with bright overhead flourescent lights during the daytime are not a real threat. Bright room performance is one of this TV's strong points, so no worries there.

@MescalineMe, I found some summaries and youtube videos with the difference and +/-between Plasma and LED TVs. Sorry I don't remember the URLs. Many people like the bright images of LED. Many video purest don't like the bright "Get a Suntan" images of the LED/LCD. Plasma have glass so they are a little heavier, usually reflect more light, and easier damage if abused then the plastic screen of a LED/LCD.

@NoWee5000, The simple answer is a LED TV is the same as an LCD TV but uses LED as a backlight. The LCD blocks different colors. No blocking makes white, blocking all colors makes black. A plasma aluminates different colors . illuminate all colors makes white, illuminate no colors make black. You need to search the internet and youtube for a better answer and the pros and cons for each type.

This is a 58 inch TV. The size of the TV depends on many factors like the size of the room, personal taste, and one's budget. I like my 58 inch size, especially for 3D as it is more emergent. Sometimes I think the 63 inch would be better. The only problem I see is not all program material was filmed in HD and may not look very good on a large screen. I use my older 34 inch HD Sony TV I got back in 2001 when there is something I want to watch which is not HD. Most of the time I do not watch it.

@KILLLER526, There are several SD channels like the 44s and 2.2. Channel 62 is 480i but also is the "Retro TV" channel and several of their shows are from the 70s so the source is very low def. They would not look good even on an HD Channel. The News is a good example of this. The News programs are 1080i or 720p and look fantasist when they are in the studio. But some locations shots like from Afghanistan look awful. The large screen makes it looks even worse. I may make a vido about it

@andrewcobra2000 Plasmas still produce a better image than lcds. Deeper blacks, more accurate colors that dont over saturate and the most important thing...RESPONSE, not frame rates. You can talk up your 240hz all you want but the fact is, response on plasma is 0.00001ms compare to 4-12ms on S-PVA panels found on lcds. This is what you want for 3D. This is why plasmas have no ghosting
