Sounds plausible and convincing. Problem is cutting up a 15 to 20 dollar bait making it weaker to break. I've added stinger hooks from the main hook and helps out hook up ratio allot. I hope you can do a video about barometric pressure id love to hear your thoughts on it especially with the big swimbaits.

Sitting in my bait room making swimbaits and worms...with the exact same pair of scissors in my hand 😂 Every bass that I catch on my 6” swimbait chokes it. And these aren’t less than 5 pound fish. Why not drop down a size on your swimbait?

Many years ago my father taught me to drop the tip of my rod when using a buzz bait. This allows the fish to inhale the bait better. With regards to this video I wonder if the bites your getting (that mis the bait) are not the bass thing to knock out stun the bait so the can then eat it. If you try the same technique maybe the fish will inhale the bait and lead to a higher catch percentage as well.

Have you tried a stinger rig with 2 trebles like the Euros use for pike? You push a short rod into the bait and the trebles hang down and you get a better hook up plus the hooks break free from the bait to help reduce leverage.

Hey randy the way u can also improve an idk why i'm giving this up but instead of cutting bait near hook what u can do is get a another split ring an add it to the one thats already on bait. So u will have two split rings going to swivel and then bend treble hook just one of the points into a 90 degree angle. Then that treble hook will be back a little more making it almost in the middle of bait an also u can use one size larger hook as well an u will get even more of a hook up ratio or get a long shank treble an then just bend one point like I said earlier.

I fish table rock and stockton every week for fun and tournaments and I catch a ton of fish on the 8 inch without modifications but that big one is another beast. Lots of nippers , not ONE hookup!!!! I'm excited to get home and carve up one of my big ens lol.

Great tip and modification, definitely worth a shot. Question: have you ever tried to boil the Magdraft baits to soften them up? I know it works for other well known 6" & 8" baits. Curious if anybody tried it with the Magdraft.

I really like magdrafts, original & freestyle, have one tied on every trip sense last season. They work extremely well for me but I haven't tried the 8 or 10" yet

The Magdraft color in "Nude bass" is the real deal in lakes where perch and sunfish are the main forage!

Magdraft looks great coming through the water, but have to fish it so slow so it doesnt roll on its side. Also, hard to fish it deep or near the bottom for me...

Good tip Randy. Also try a decoy quad hook and pin the hook down with a cut paperclip.
