Having a good editor is one of those things that I think a lot of people don't really think about, but is such a valuable and crucial thing if you're into making videos. Saves you tons of time and gives you some breathing room to do other things. While I'm sure for some KZbinrs editing is fun and good (and others just can't find the right person for the job), most sensible people I know on this platform seem to always have an editor or two, or else they're running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to do everything all by themselves.

6-10 hours for editing. Thank you for this. I have only done a few, very short videos, and it was taking forever. I thought it was just noob slowness and I always wondered how long it would take someone who knew what they were doing. 6-10 hours for a half hour video, so around 15-20 min editing time for each min of video. A very realistic goal to aim for, thank you.

Hey Morgan, it's about time I took a few seconds to thank you for the great videos. It's so much fun to watch you work on this project and the various animals doing their thing. Especially in these times of the pandemic, there is something very comforting about it. You have put a smile on my face so many times. Thank you! One can see that you deeply care about your animals and that they have a greater value for you than the purely material one. In your videos, one sees that these creatures have feelings, personalities, and relationships: Whether it's Toby enthusiastically greeting you, or the caring mama goose protecting her clutch, or even Ron Swanson as accepted part of the Parks and Recreation gang. It's wonderful to see the animals allowed to pursue their drives and needs at your farm. You have set the standard for what I consider ethical animal agriculture. As a result, your videos have inspired me to learn more about keeping chickens, as I found the thought very nice to have some in my garden. Although I come from Germany, the land of sausage and schnitzel, I eat a veggie diet for ethical reasons and have always made sure to buy organic eggs. In my head I had the idea that the producing animals must be doing nearly as well as the ones on your farm - because they are organic eggs, right. While researching chicken farming, I quickly became disillusioned and dove deeper down the rabbit hole: The way sentient beings are treated in the industrial production of meat, eggs and dairy products, even in organic-industrial production, is barbaric, cruel and so far away from what you show us at Gold-Shaw-Farm that it broke my heart. Here in Germany, from childhood on, for a good reason, we are always confronted with the darkest chapter of our history - the Holocaust. That is our legacy. Everyone who still has all their cups in the cupboard agrees that something like this must never ever happen again. No compassionate person today would say that it was in any way humane, just or necessary to gas millions of people. But for many of us, compassion stops with our own species. Although pigs have the intelligence of a three-year-old child and, just like us, feel joy and sorrow, maintain friendships, and have a consciousness, we keep them in concentration camps under undignified conditions and kill them by the millions every day in our gas chambers. Is that humane? Is that just? Is that natural? Is that necessary for our survival? I don't think so. We humans have completely lost touch with nature. In advertising, the industry tells us fairy tales of small-scale idyllic farming and happy animals, and in the supermarket we only see the abstract products wrapped in plastic, but not the suffering of the animals that we create and sustain through our demand. I would like to see more people daring to question the normality in which we have all been socialised, to explore the conditions under which these animal products have been produced and whether we can reconcile with our hearts and minds how we treat God's creation. It is time that we as a society take the next step on the path of our ethical and cultural development. As Gandhi said, "The greatness and moral progress of a nation can be measured by how they treat their animals." Because I don't have an ethical farmer like you next to my place to buy my eggs from and I also don't have a garden of my own yet, where I can let chickens live as they wish to live, I decided two months ago to start eating plant-based only and I'm thriving :3 Keep up the good work and stay true to your heart! Thank you for giving me the contrast to see the world as it is.

You should utilize the water from the natural spring nearby to keep the pond completely full with fresh clean water. You could set up some type of pump or even a pipeline that could transport the water with gravity like the one in the old barn that they used for water for the cattle. I just love to see the pond completely full especially with fresh clean water, and I am sure the ducks and geese would appreciate it too!

I actually started documenting my parents' farm because of this channel. So thank you Morgan for inspiring me! We're only at the farm on weekends though, and our farm is labor intensive, which leaves very little time to film. I do plan ahead on the topic, and how I want the video to look. That does reduce time on finding the right clips to use, but it still takes a few months to gather enough usable footage.

I almost went back to school for animation back in the '90s but opted for a BS in Fine Art. Now, at 65, I'm developing a line of Fairey hand puppets for both small children and adults (fit for small hands to adult) to act out their own stories. Thank you for the peek behind the scenes! Your story telling talent and personality are what make it worth documenting your farm life in this elaborate way, in addition to your views about raising animals and producing food. And I hope they choose you to lead the terra-forming team on Mars! 🌱
