Hello Scarlett. I'm a great fan of your channel. I love your creativity and the way you work. I'm French and I practise upcycling with many different things, my favorite at the moment being old porcelaine plates made into jewels (pendants and rings). You have an example in my picture. But, just like you, I use fabric from my own wardrobe or charity shops to create new clothes. I tried your towel dress and it turned out.... well, not as nice as yours but I love the idea so much! I had already done what I call patchwork dresses but straighter without any ruffles. Your last plans about the 20s - 30s style is very inspiring. WE call this period "années folles" in France. Art déco is part of it. I love the Chinese fabric that you presented and the bird cushion... Wouaw ! I 've been following you for a while and I wanted to thank you because you're a very creative, interesting and inspiring person. Wish you luck and success with your New plans. Brigitte

Thank you for your video and sharing with us, all the way from WA State, USA. I have a hideous sweater- dress I want to upcycle into a beautiful piece. The sweater material is sooo cozy. I feel like a chunky dress with a cowel neck would be nice and I want to make a pair of black jeans. I'm 58 and I've been sewing since I was about 7 yrs old. It gives me peace and helps me slow down and focus.

Colouring books are a fantastic resource for design ideas! I find that its often one element on a whole page that stands out, be it a single flower or leaf shape, an animal or pattern, but ones like the Art Nouvau/Deco books are fantastic. And never to be coloured in........!

I constantly upcycle denim into other garments and items., between other dress projects. I also knit jumpers and sox. The jumpers are usually just one per season and for myself. Cos I only knit one jumper a year, I take so...long to decide on which pattern to make.. im slow like that with sewing too..take ages to decide. I show most of my makes on my own channel ..I really love watching you chat about your creative process ❤

Once again...can't wait to see your projects come to life! You truly give me inspiration 💜 I was working on a quilted patchwork hoodie...spent many days watching videos while cutting and sewing, and cutting and sewing lol. I've put it up for a couple days because i got to the hood (last piece) and it didn't fit just right😥 Very frustrating! I'll get it back out after the holiday and finish it. Yeah, I've got lots of ideas ....most all are patchwork pieces.

Pronounced silk due-pee-on 😂 My wedding dress was made out of this because I didn’t want to be shiny 😅 it had quite a bit of lace and beading embellishment on the front of it so your needle turn appliqué will work fine. If you use a milliners (or straw) needle with a small eye it won’t leave a really big hole in the fabric. Oh Lordy you’re brave with foundation paper piecing and you’ve done a great job. Well done! I’m currently hand piecing a Jen Kingwell tempter called “I pink I love you” with all of the pinks I can find around the place and using up some very well worn vintage doileys in it. I think I’m going to end up with enough to make 2 quilts if I don’t stop soon.

I tried to do paper piecing with my students but we gave up! We reverted to applique instead. I love the grape design linen. The way you had on yourself looked good - like a kimono style. I have those pattern magic books and it's something I have been wanting to do for a long time - maybe you have just given me the push to try! I have 3 weeks left of the term and then I have 2 weeks off - so maybe then. The Japanese floral fabric is gorgeous. I did a corset making course once but we ran out of time and never finished it! :( it's a lot of measuring and toiling. Love the videos.

Love your ideas! Especially the butterfly paper piecing 😍 I am working on a few projects. They are all going to be second versions of patterns I'm testing for lovely pattern makers! First I have a shirt that I'm making out of a thrifted floral curtain. It's the Perennial Blouse by Sewnwithgrit, and is a cute crop top. Then I'm making a matching green skirt out of a thrifted cotton sheet with the Saturday skirt pattern by Cayden Naughton. It has lovely pointed yoke pieces. Lastly I'm making a Sonata set by Yoannas studio out of a gorgeous plaid tablecloth I thrifted. It has heart shaped pockets! I have made all these patterns once, and have some ideas to alter some of them to fit my body better. I'm very excited! Thanks for sharing all your plans!

I love love paper piecing. I use freezer paper (buy at the grocery store). You print your pattern onto the none wax side. Remember the pattern is backwards when sewn. I iron my fabric onto the block 1. Trim on block 2 side and put the cut 2 fabric upside down facing block 1. Stitch with small stitches. Press. You can stick glue fabric in place if a small piece. Trim at fabric 3 edge. Repeat. At the end you pull of the freezer paper and it’s quick quick quick as you have not stitched on it. Loving your KZbin. Cannot wait to see your next project being created or completed. I have my first granddaughter and she is 3. My daughter wants me to make her dresses. I quilt and crochet.

I do enjoy your videos so much! Even though I can't wear your style of clothing, I would look like a demented shepherdess, but they are so cute on you. At 64 things don't translate the same on my body.😅 First eyebrows. You're young enough that everything will keep growing back, however be aware that as you get older hair stops growing back. That was a big surprise for me.😮 do they have the wax strips at your local pharmacy? Those are much easier. Second I love the idea of the pants. I could imagine the stripes going up and down on the sides. But that's just me. And I am in love with the colors on the placemats! I was wondering if there was enough there that you could make loosely a kimono style jacket? And I think that's it. I've watched the video several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. oh, and silk dupioni can be washed and dried like any other fabric. It's very tough. It just gets softer.

Dear Scarlett, well, there is a decent amount of projects waiting on my to-sew-list. And honestly - there are new ones to be added nearly every day 🤭🤫 When I am having time again, I want to get back to quilting and bring all the upcycling ideas that I have in mind to live. Additionally I want to learn to sew clothing - for me and also for all the kids from my friends and be more active on insta and social media with the things I make. Maybe even creating a new account for that. I'd also like to have a stock of small handmade gifts that I can take with me as a thank you for e.g. invitations. Currently I am working on a EPP hexie project (a reeeaaally sloooooow one....) and I am embroidering on some cheap felt circles to put under glasses/mugs for Christmas (missing the right word right now). Not sure If they will be finished this Christmas - but any Christmas for sure. 😂 xoxo from Germany Stephanie

I am exploring the idea of using recycled textiles, sheets, thrifted men’s shirts, etc to try and sew myself a more sustainable wardrobe. ? As long as I am happy with the weight, drape, composition etc of the fabric I should be ok right? Any and all advice gratefully received. .
