People who don't play bass don't appreciate how tough it is to keep such a simple song like this right on the beat for the entire song. One missed beat and the thing collapses. Well done sir. Songs like this and Jessie's Girl and Jenny Jenny are REALLY easy songs to figure out the notes and are GREAT songs to get your timing down.

Jeff Isles agreed. This was not an easy song.
@Aprilmaedchen20016 жыл бұрын
Jeff Isles I don't and can't play the bass, but I highly apreciate it, because for me it's the instrument that forms a song the most, it has rythem and melody in it's participation in the song
@f8at5 жыл бұрын
To play constantly octaves and moving up and down the bass is not easy. For me is difficult not to tap the string moving on octaves.... is not easy at all... and as you said. Out of beat in one line and the song is ruined... the bass is the base of the song, what makes it so distinctive.

Francisco Ochoa - you couldn't be more right. Nile's was a very tight bass player. Averre get's the glory with that immense guitar solo but it's because of Nile's bass playing.
@cometface2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with this. I played this song many times live, but you and your drummer are going to be hurting by the tail end of this, even if they don’t want to admit it ;)

Perfect cover. This is not a simple song to play, to be sure, and you did a great job. This is still one of the most kick ass songs for bass ever written.

I'd love to learn bass.. and I actually have 2 basses that are my dad's. But they are right handed guitars, while I am left handed. :/
@rekindled36248 жыл бұрын
Many left handed guys actually play as if they were right handed. The point is that you're gonna move your hands like you never did before, so whether you're right handed or left handed doesn't really matter
@razvysme8 жыл бұрын
Soo not tru, maybe in the beginning yes, but when getting to more complex stuff, u really want the best hand u can get to play the rhythm in time.
@rekindled36248 жыл бұрын
Razvan P How many people told the exact same thing to Jimi Hendrix? That's not how it works bro
@razvysme8 жыл бұрын
U realize Hendrix played with his dominant hand, right?
@rekindled36248 жыл бұрын
Razvan P I was referring to the fact that due to that he had to change the "standard" guitar technique quite a bit, but it wasn't challenging for him because he did it since the first time he played guitar, it was normal to him, just like it would be normal for a lefty to play any instrument like a righty from the beginning
@markellis48803 жыл бұрын
He has the main riff WRONG. This bass player is sliding up from F to G but is should be F# to G. There are a number of videos of The Knack playing My Sharona live where this can be confirmed. Clearly the original player is sliding F# to G.

Ok, so this is clearly the simple way to play this riff/song...which is the best way. However, why is it that I see some players are playing the A and G strings?? Which is more accurate, technically speaking?? I obviously like your version better!!
