If you are watching this odds are you have shingles yourself and are looking for some insight. I just recently had shingles and it was a really scary process for me. There isn't a ton of information on what that process looks like in your 20's, 30's or even 40's. I felt really alone and clueless during this process so I wanted to make a video describing my experience in as much detail as possible. I talk about what the rash looked like, what my doctor experience was and how I healed it.

I'm going on day 7, and it is TERRIBLE. The pain is debilitating. I've had 3 cry sessions between today & Sunday bc it is that unbearable. I feel like I'm getting poked with a knife, while being burnt simultaneously. I'm hoping whomever that's going through the same thing find some relief, and a speedy recovery. This stuff is no joke!

Yup! I'm going through the same thing right now. It's been two weeks already and the shooting pain is still going on. The rash seems to be scabbing but not clearing up. I'm a Manly-Man so I have yet to cry about it yet. HAHA. It certainly is miserable though.

Yarumi, my rash is gone but I have scarring. Still have numbness and pain across my left front ribcage. I also get itching sensations on both my front and back left side. I believe I suffered nerve damage. I think I'm one of the unfortunate people to get long term complications from shingles. I'm just rolling with the punches and staying active. I work in construction/remodeling. I'm hoping just moving and keeping busy might help? I'm definitely not 100 percent at all to answer your question. I am wishing you the best and a speedy recovery. What a miserable virus Shingles is. God Bless.

I'm 29 and diagnosed with shingles after being diagnosed with COVID 3 weeks before. I'm not trying to downplay anyone else experience but I was luckily blessed with the mildest part of it according to other people experience with it. I'm not in much pain, it is itchy at my rash spot for the most part. I am sooo sorry for those who had it worse than me. May you guys be happy and healthy soon!! oh my shingles are in the scabbing stage.

This makes me feel so much better. I’m 28 and I’ve had it for a while. It’s not something I really think of until it comes back. Currently have a small patch on my elbow so it’s killing me whenever I accidentally place my elbow on a surface. Someone saw it today and was grossed out and said it looks like herpes and asked if I’m contagious. Never happened before and I felt the overwhelming need to over explain what it is and was just embarrassed.. Just wanted to say thank you for making me feel so comforted and normal about this.♥️

I’m 33 & got a terrible case of shingles in the same region as you, in the bra line region wrapping around my back. Glad to have went to a walk in & be prescribed valacyclovir 3x a day for 1 week. It’s been 4 weeks since initially spotting the rash. The blisters have since dried up & have gone but my skin is still dark in that area almost like a scar not to mention it’s so itchy. Topicals like calamine or colloidal oats & even lidocaine aren’t working. I’ve taken antihistamines but they aren’t seeming to have any effect. Apparently this is because the itch is nerve related & doesn’t respond the same way an allergic reaction would to these medications. It’s tiring being in pain & it’s tiring to be itchy. It’s ironic that it worsens with lack of sleep & stress when that’s what shingles causes. I was sleeping just fine before & didn’t feel stressed at all. I know another girl a few years younger than me who also got shingles. I feel as though they need to update their academic records on what age this affects & maybe learn more about this. Apparently there’s a vaccine for shingles so I’m hoping to get that soon because I would hate to repeat this nightmare experience.

My advice- do NOT try to toughen this one out and if you see these symptoms go to urgent care!! Medication and taking them consistently. Following up with loose clothing and keeping them dry does extremely help. I looked all over for a good video but I do think shingles while your younger vs older is totally different. I feel pain for the older it seems so much worse. For me this was painful but I feel very blessed to be getting better each week.

So how are you doing now? I'm on day 15 since I first noticed the rash. I actually seen the doctor on the second day of the rash but he misdiagnosed it as a allergic reaction to the pain patch. When I called him to tell him the rash was getting worse they just said Keep trying the useless cream. I waited five more days before going to the emergency room and getting diagnosed with shingles. I still haven't been to a dermatologist, couldn't get an appointment until Thursday the 28th. But the pain is more incredible today then it was a week ago and I'm on 600 mg ibuprofen. 😢

I decided to watch since I also had shingles glasses in my late 20s. Back then they didn't have the antivirals so the treatment was tylonal with codeine and using an astringent on the rash. This was back in 1980. It started with severe stabbing pains in my back, like an ice pick. After about 4 days the rash appeared and that lasted three weeks. The stabs of nerve pain continued for about six months. So of course when I was eligible for the vaccine I got it, but that was the old version, which was less than 60% effective. Then, on my 65th birthday I felt a familiar stabbing pain. Yes, I had shingles again. This time I went to the doctor immediately and got the antivirals, but even with those it was a miserable two weeks. Now I've had Shingrex with is almost 100% effective so hopefully it won't happen again. You mentioned the pain but really that's worse than the rash because it doesn't stop and is worse at night. If you're eligible for the vaccine GET IT. Don't put yourself through weeks of misery.

Yep, shingles at 28 for me! Right side of my forehead. Started as a pimple and then crusted, wept and spread. I was initially diagnosed with impetigo and given antibiotics. It felt like a blowtorch constantly applied to my head, and then ongoing pins and needles all up under my hair. Then i felt really extremely unwell and my whole face swelled til I looked like an alien! Diagnosed correctly the day before Christmas Eve (so we sang ‘shingle bells’), was given antivirals, couldn’t open my eyes the next day without feeling really bad, but got some open-eye time on Christmas Day. :) Slow recovery over the next couple of weeks or so.

It is super wild. I think mine happened cause of going to the chiro...cause I got them so randomly too when I wasn't more stressed than I usually am. From what I have read the virus lays dormant in the nerve tissue near your spinal cord so maybe the cracking woke it up.

Get a product called km, made by Matol International. It’s a tonic made up of 13 different herbs and 3 potassium’s. In this case you’d apply to the affected areas, and depending on what stage the rash is in will dictate how many applications are needed. If you get to it when it first appears, it will continue to reappear after each application. If a person has had the virus for a few weeks, then it will disappear after the first application over night.

There has to be a reason there is this increase in shingles in younger people recently... if that is the case (or are we just saying this?). It's definitely not because of stress because lives of people in the west has never been more stress free in human history than it is now - especially for young people (if you think it's not, you need to do some research on what life was really like in decades and centuries past). I just got it a week ago and thought it was no big deal but it seems to get worse (even though I'm anti-viral meds, though it's questionable if they do anything anyway). The worst part is the pain in my ribs that feels like the muscles or tendons are being ripped apart. The skin burning is tolerable though it will change to stabbing every now and then. It's a VERY odd disease.

Thank you for this informative video. My sincere thoughts and prayers for all you young folk that have been stricken by what I’d thought was reserved for older guys like me. I can only commiserate with all of you. Last month I had a bad case of Covid, immediately followed by shingles. I initially thought it was a mosquito bite on my side, but in the mirror I saw the rash and immediately got an oral antiviral. Yeah, it’s burning and awful. It’s been a week now and I’m scared it’s going to spread to my eyes, face or head? Does anybody out there know if the effected nerve pathway (rash) can spread to other areas after an initial rash has already begun the shingles cycle? I’ve also learned that Amitriptyline and duloxetine can also help with longer term pain. Gabapentin and Pregabalin (Lyrica) can also help with pain. I already take this med for another nerve condition and I truly believe it is helping reduce the pain of shingles. Again, thank you for posting this and again my healing thoughts are out there for all of you suffering from shingles. Bless Ya’ll ! 🙏🏽

Cause once I started taking the antivirals it took about three full days for it to stop getting worse/bigger. On day four the rash reached kind of a standstill. The blisters turned into scabs in like a week from day 4 of antivirals. So two weeks of it being a full rash. After two weeks it still looked like a rash, so slight bumps and redness but it was scaring more than anything else. I would still get shooting pains here and there but it wasn't uncomfortable or anything like the beginning of it all.
