Yes yes YES on a review of Azure Standard! This is my first time hearing of it but I already love the sound of it.

In case anyone is interested in getting a bamboo toothbrush, the brand Bite (probably best known for their tooth tabs) actually just came out with a completely compostable toothbrush - bristles and all. It’s also vegan! According to their website, they use castor beans for the bristles making them completely biodegradable. It might be a good alternative for anyone who doesn’t want to worry about removing the bristles when composting.☺️

Your hair looks so healthy and happy! My hair has gotten so long and unwieldy; I need to take the weight out a bit. And I love Azure Standard!

It was definitely a quarantine cut, but I really love it! Thank you :) Azure is something positive I've found over these last few months. I had heard of them before, but never purchased anything. It's so nice to be able to get most of my bulk items from them now! I used to drive around so much shopping a different stores for everything.

This has inspired me again! I’ve become way too lax during the pandemic. So many disposables, and I know for good reason... (maybe?) but this inspired me to take a look at rooms within the home - bathroom first! Thank you Alli!

Honestly, when this all started, I was focused on health and being ok, and sustainability went out the window. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm making better purchases. Don't be too hard on yourself, we're living through a crazy time!

My favorite shampoo comes in a Bulk format for me too. I also like the companies shampoo bar but wouldn't work for my hair long term.
@amyhodges80804 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you've tried them but I really like the Bar None brand of shampoo and conditioner bars. They're the most normal-behaving bar shampoo and conditioner I've used. That being said, I totally respect just buying bulk liquid shampoo and conditioner, there are so many different ways to be sustainable!

We have terribly hard water here too but I've been loving Humby Organics (I get it from my zero waste store here). They have coconut based sulfates that are safe and help clean out the gunk. Maybe that'll work for you (:

That's good to know, thanks Christine! I hope you and your fam are staying safe :)

Great video! Thanks for sharing your plastic free products. I use wash cloths as well. They are the best for cleaning you face and removing makeup, they wash easily, and they last forever.

I love the white face wash towels from Walmart, 18 for $4, and can be used for a hundred things and come clean with bleach if needed.

Thanks for this helpful Video. I started my journey with reducing my impact on the planet by watching your videos a couple of years ago. I didn't buy any new clothes (just second hand) for two years now, I'm pretty proud of that ! Thanks for sharing your tips and opening people eyes. Greetings from Canada :)

Love the video. Question: I live in rural America, is it better to order online zero waste products that have to be mailed to me individually, or buy conventional from the store? When considering that they are shipped in bulk from the manufacturer to the store, it cuts down on transportation CO2 and packaging than individual delivery. I never know what the right thing is here and was wondering about the zero waste community’s perspective. Thanks!

OMG I MISSED YOU/YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH!! Thank you for all these product recommendations, especially for the bulk soap! I've been looking these past few days online for the best bulk options, so I'll definitely try out the Azure Standard!! And YESS PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON THEM!! I have a question for the kombucha bottles, I have a few at home and would like to reuse them, but where did u buy the pump that fits the spout/top of the bottle?!

I am SO happy to be back!! Thank you :) I'm working on my Azure video now, I'm excited so many people are interested! I get my bottle tops locally from @byolongbeach - she ships too!

I have a LastSwab and I don't feel like it does enough. I'm still using it to try and reduce how many q-tips I'm using as a whole and I'm hoping I end up getting used to it over time! I'm also curious about trying a mimikaki stick, so that might be the next thing I try.
@keller2323234 жыл бұрын
I have a mimikaki stick and it works way better than the LastSwab. You might want to give it a try!☺️
@AlliCherry4 жыл бұрын
That's what I've heard from others too! It doesn't absorb water (obviously) and that's really what I use cotton swabs for.
@xoMiaMoore4 жыл бұрын
@@AlliCherry Yeah totally! I am so sad because I bought both the beauty one and the bathroom one and don't feel like I'm using them as much as I thought. Though I haven't been wearing makeup during COVID so the beauty one hasn't had a fair chance haha.

Some great recommendations that I'll have to check out, especially LastSwab. I only really use swabs to apply my acne treatment so I've been looking at bamboo swabs as well, but this will work out a lot better for my needs.
@AlliCherry4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I believe they have two options, a smooth silicone (that might work well for your treatment) and a slightly textured one. :)

I love this! Though I think I’ll stick with my electric toothbrush. My teeth need it 😬 check out plaine products for shampoo and conditioner! They come in aluminum bottles and you can send them back for disinfecting and reuse! I am curious why you don’t care for LastSwab. I got one recently and love it! Though I use it 1-2x per day so I used to use a lot of cotton swabs.

Probably ignorant here, but how do you compost bamboo? Is it recycled with paper or do you need to compost the same way as food!?
@AlliCherry4 жыл бұрын
Not ignorant at all! I'm kind of spoiled bc my city has curbside compost pickup- I just take the bristles off and throw it in the bin. If I were composting it in a backyard compost (with food) I would try to break it up into smaller pieces to make the process go a bit faster.

What about your shower curtain? Is it cotton? Linen? Thanks! 🥰
@novell3sque4 жыл бұрын
I bought a polyester curtain off of a local Etsy shop and wash it about once a month! I keep it closed after a shower, so it dries fast and well. :) It's not really plastic free, but I prefer it over a full on plastic sheet, and I wanted something that was washable and still repelled water a little bit, so its perfect.
@AlliCherry4 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it's synthetic, but I purchased it second-hand. Check out my last video, I talk about it more there! :)

I don't use swabs at all. They're not needed for cleaning your ears as you can do that in the shower (talking about the outside part of the ear, don't ever put anything inside), also physicians recommend against them. I don't need any specific tool to clean my ears and don't have to worry about looking for sustainable options. I couldn't think of any other use for swabs that couldn't be done by any piece of fabric, wrapped on some sort of stick if you need to.
@AlliCherry4 жыл бұрын
I know! They're a bad habit I need to break. I don't even really use them for cleaning, mostly drying (sorry if that's TMI!) :)

Cool video! As someone with poor teeth health, it's super unfortunate that fluoride tabs and more effective bristles exist.
