this is what happens when high school mean girls are no longer in high school. They seek out a position that allows them to be constantly around those vulnerable so they still feel powerful and above them. If she was truly angry and upset then she would've quit being a nurse. I was a RN for 25 years before I retired. The incident with the teenager needs to be investigated, and a file needs to be made with the police. A "Nurses dose," typically means they give a patient more meds than what was ordered. This goes against policy in every hospital in the USA. Too much morphine distributed during labor, especially if given later in labor can cause temporary breathing and heart rate problems for the laboring mother. Affects are even worse for the baby. They can have difficulty breathing, shallow breathing, slow and labored breathing, no breathing, AND death. So basically this nurse giving too much morphine to the mother during labor could be the reason why the baby died. My heart goes out to the girl, and her family. OP needs to go NC with her sister for the safty of her and her child. Again, a police report really needs to be filed.

considering the sister's personality I would concur with the top comment on the update that she might have rigged the dosage. One of the main reasons for thinking so is that OP's main reason not to is her sister's tone which sounded guilt free to her but if we consider the monster she is that would be her proud moment although she probably won't say it outright. also hospitals would probably sweep it under a rug for their own benefit to protect themselves from lawsuits. this is how a lot of monsters like this keep repeating their crimes over and over again. they get fired get another job cause this isn't on their record then do it again.

As a disclaimer, I dont go looking for trouble but if there's trouble, I won't run from it. And this bitch wasn't actually in charge of my sister while she was birthing, but.. kept walking in/poking her head in to ask our nurse if she had seen [insert staff name here]. After the fourth time, I was super bothered and loudly said to her that if she wasn't in the room participating in the delivery of the baby, she needs to go away. She gave me a shocked look and quickly shut the door again. It was the last time we saw her. 👌🫡 The best thing you can do other than be on guard yourself, is make sure you have someone with you that's going to do you proud. I dont go Karen, I tone it down to Professional Bitch, if that makes sense. And yeah while the vast majority of nurses are decent people and deserve to be respected as such. The mean girls love to try and mask themselves as such. On the more masculine side of things there can be a similar pipeline towards policing. IE overly aggressive young men right out of high school can find themselves drawn to the profession since they can get a position of power over others that has traditionally been shrouded in either respect or fear depending on the community. Op was just getting over body image issues which can be a huge sign of past trauma. The BF trying to control what she wears is only a small part of what could happen to op mentally if she stays in the relationship. That is not him loving her. That is him controlling every aspect of what makes op who she is. A bikini is not "whorish", it's a swimsuit. Tight dresses are not, either. Men need to get over this ideology that we dress to turn them on. We dress how we like because that's how we feel comfortable. It's for us. Not them.

This would be like her telling him that he must have a beard that he doesn't want because she doesn't like people been able to see this chin because some other woman might find his face attractive without one. It's the exact same concept, "revealing" clothing is socially acceptable. Most men tbh don't really notice, there are far more sexually explicit things around us basically constantly than a woman wearing a crop top, or a bikini (hell even naked), the internet has seen to that. As for the men don't want to marry women on only fans, that's like saying men don't want to marry supermodels because they did an underwear shoot or a centerfold. Men who place all the value of a woman on such small things generally aren't worth marrying, most men are more than happy to marry a woman who is confident in their body, as confidence is sexy. OP in the 1st story should report her comments to the state medical commission & the hospital. A lot of medical providers think patients are faking their pain or are hidden "addicts" despite all symptoms pointing to under treated pain. On TikTok, many have talked about/acted out/filmed themselves AT WORK laughing as their patients they have denied treatment to, faked giving a dose (gave something like saline that feels like ice in the veins, which can be painful in itself), then gaslight them. You can even hear the patients in the background of some videos screaming/crying in pain with little to no pain meds as the nurses rolled their eyes, smiled/laughed, or put headphones in. On the other side, some providers will give meds just to "shut up" a patient, even if the medication is on their allergy/intolerance list & just try to give it to the patient without informing them what is being given. A "nurses dose" is a higher than prescribed dose of pain meds, which can be very dangerous when not requested, especially in a young patient who is likely opioid naive. Like with most med classes, patients can be fine on one specific drug & not on another & some may have interactions with meds a patient is taking. For example, my dad can't handle oxycodone, where hydrocodone works just fine. When he had to have neck surgery a few years ago, the combination of oxycodone, 2 antidepressant (one was for migraines, one for depression), & the propofol from the surgery had given him delusions, paranoia, & hallucinations. He thought that he was in the hospital chapel, which he had never been to, thought the Drs were trying to poison him, & at one point really wanted to jump out the window (which thankfully couldn't open, as he was several floors up). I knew his medical history, but since this was during COVID, I had to tell my mom to get the Drs to change him to hydrocodone & stop the antidepressants (I've hallucinated due to opioid/antidepressant interaction before too, it's long been established by research that they have dangerous interactions), which decreased his symptoms very quickly, the same day if not the next if I remember correctly. Its scary how little hospitals actually understand or care about patient experience on meds.

What she did to that teenage girl was abusive. Glad she got reported. Nobody who talks about patients like that should be in the medical field.
@DragonflyandTheWolf7 ай бұрын
I went to a friendsgiving once where a couple of ER nurses were also invited. We briefly talked about their job, but they made it clear they could not talk about patients, even if they kept their names out of the conversation. Their patients were not conversation starters. They took their patients' privacy very seriously.

I suspect it's more common that the people go into the fields with good intentions, but are ultimately unsuited to it and burn out quickly. Then they fall into the sunk cost fallacy regarding their training/education time and money, so they won't switch careers. The bitterness just keeps building up.

Story about OP and her sister that shouldn't be in the medical field brought up some unpleasant memories. I'm disabled and I have had to spend more time in hospitals than most people ever will have to. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT DISCIPLINED FOR THIS BEHAVIOR! I had a nurse in the ER that was 100% convinced I was faking my seizures (I was not) and so she was convinced I was untrustworthy when I told her I'm allergic to some medicines. She then to prove a point gave me a HUGE dose of that medicine to prove her point and instead I had a serious allergic reaction and stopped breathing. I obviously survived but she worked in that ER for another 5 years after this event. Nothing happens to these people.

@@SapphWolf I have no idea, I just stopped going to that ER after awhile. I can hower speculate; She likely didn't put the medication she gave me in the chart. There was likley no record she had done anything. The medication is a common sedative and is in general on hand in the ER for more agressive paitents or for people shock and 1 or 2 vials going missing isn't unusual. Without that proof it's just another patient coding in the ER.

My immediate thoughts on seeing the title of Story Two: Oh, that's cute (sarcasm). They dated for two years, and only now is he saying something because he didn't feel like it was his place to tell her what to wear? It never was his place to tell her something like that, and it never will be.

As a retired nurse, I find OP's sister's behavior disgusting. I have worked with some nurses that I didn't think were compassionate enough or slacked on their job, but this takes the cake. Often nurses vent to other nurses since they understand and it would more often be about the workload or stress. Or when you have a person constantly hitting the call light for small things or when the family is overbearing and are constantly in the way. I don't ever remember working with nurses that were that judgemental and insulting the patients (even behind their backs) is not cool. I've never understood why some people go into nursing when it's obvious they don't really care about people.

I literally had to pause the video. My mouth dropped! Thank god I wasn't drinking my coffee. Dear Lord! This is why a lot of people say the mean girls in high school go into nursing for I don't know what reason. I'm happy OP did what she did. That lady does not deserve to be a nurse. Nurses and doctors are supposed to help patients.

There’s a difference between viewing your patients poorly and treating them poorly. The nurse sister is doing the latter. She’s giving pregnant women too much pain meds to shut them up.

As a nurse myself I'm absolutely horrified at OPs sister 😳😰 she sounds so cruel. Sure everyone vents from time to time about their job, but this isn't a behaviour I'd ever accept from a person looking after me, especially in one of the most valuable states. It's like she's on a power trip and it's seriously disturbing.

OMG, when I gave birth to my first child as a teenager, a nurse did the EXACT same thing to me because I was crying because I was overwhelmed and just had my first C-section which was my first surgery ever, on top of it all I had a horrible doctor who purposely took me into surgery after he told my family to go home, eat, take a shower and come back so I was alone during and after my C-section. She was really evil and mean, however, I shut her up when I told her she didn't know how or why I was pregnant if I spread my legs as she claimed, or if I had been SA'd. I was terrified when I learned I was pregnant with my second baby I went into panic attack's thinking I would have to deliver in that hospital. It was a good thing my husband moved me to a different state to have my second baby.
@LisaApril Жыл бұрын
Story one: it's not that the sister was venting about being a nurse and her patients, It's that the sister was talking about how she was cruel and abusive to her patients. There were some nurses who posted on TikTok talking about patients this way, and they were all fired once the hospital became aware of the TikTok's. It didn't take too long because someone who saw it reported them. I've given birth, and I had good nurses who encouraged me and helped me. I can't imagine how horrible and traumatizing that experience would've been if I had horrible nurses. I have been in the hospital and had a horrible Doctor who told me she didn't know what the side effects of a medication were or how it worked and told the nurse to print out pages for me to read and make a decision on if I wanted that medication. This was crazy because I was in the hospital and in very bad condition. I have to go to that same hospital because it's the only one in my area, but I have it in my mind to refuse to let her treat me. When I told my primary doctor about this once I was out of the hospital, he shook his head and told me that should never happen. I was too weak to think straight while I was in the hospital that time, and so I did not have the wherewithal to advocate for myself. I do believe that this is why it's very important that whenever someone is in the hospital a family member stay with them at all times to advocate for them and make sure they're given the best care and ask questions, ask questions, ask questions.

Wow at the nurse story. My best friend is a nurse and has been for years. She is very jaded because of that career, but not a cruel ahole still. She rants about patients, but only the ones who treat her badly or refuse to cooperate for no good reason. But integrity is important to her no matter what.
@owl7072 Жыл бұрын
Story 1: "She shouldn't have to kiss up to patients in order to do her job efficiently" She has to if she wants to _keep_ that job 🤨 you work in a literal hospital, treating/talking about patients the way she has is the exact opposite of what someone working there should be doing, and nobody wants a nurse they don't feel safe with _period,_ let alone one they don't feel safe with handling their health. She'd have an absolute temper tantrum, likely to a point of throwing herself on the floor, pounding her fists and kicking her feet while screeching like a banshee if she was treated even _remotely_ similar to how she's acting and likely sue the place, so what makes her think she's safe 🤨 "she was just venting" didn't she blatantly admit that she did/said some of this directly to a patient 🤔 I want to fight this woman and land her in that same hospital then deliberately send someone with a matching attitude to care for her (For legal reasons I'm joking.) (Maybe)

I have family who work delivering babies-what the sister did is unfathomable, unforgivable, and frankly if we got an update about her being jailed over her behavior it wouldn’t surprise me at all. That is half a step below serial killers in the medical profession who deliberately kill their patients through overdose. Can ask family member the extent of trouble this is later if anyone is curious but I can’t understate how serious this is. The pattern of behavior is only going to make it worse. Even beyond the moral and legal issues this is like worst nightmare shit for a hospital. There is no way the story is over. This is the kind of crap that would absolutely show up on the news the second a reporter catches wind. Like I cannot understate how serious that shit is. That’s like a teacher going ‘oh I hated the six year old student I was teaching so had him stand in the corner for hours until he pissed himself, then called him every horrible name I could think of’. EDIT: Asked about this. Relative is very doubtful it happened (I hope it didn't) because it's so unimaginably bad. She said if it did, the nurse wouldn't just be fired--her nursing license absolutely would be revoked. She's unsure if prison time would result or not but it might. People were saying that other nurses were probably behaving similarly, but to be honest I doubt that because the vast majority of people don't join the profession (let alone labor and delivery) with a mentality like that. The other thing crossing my mind is, practically speaking the hospital can't tolerate this crap. Even before the teen that woman would have been a walking lawsuit. It's unlikely that for the number of patients she's done this to they all stayed silent, and if a doctor or other authority found evidence of even one incident of the magnitude described that would have been serious trouble. Corruption exists, but if the sister got away with her behavior that long again it's a news story.

I had wonderful nurses when I had my baby. I had a c-section and was in the hospital for four days. They did everything for me since it was during the lockdown and partners weren’t allowed in the hospital long. They even changed nappies and looked after my baby while I took shower/went to toilet. On the other hand, the lady I was sharing the room (on the last day) with had an awful nurse that was screaming/shouting at the mother and EVEN THE BABY! Good lord. That first story was awful. That nurse should get prison time for giving that poor teenage girl extra medication. As someone who's had a stillborn baby, I don't think I could control my temper if I heard a nurse blaming someone for having a miscarriage, stillbirth, or for the death of their baby. I probably would've hit that nurse, even if they were a family member. That sorry excuse for a human being should've lost her license a long time ago.
