Hi Tara. My name is Tera. :) Thank you for your share. I'm a binge drinker whose been trying to get sober for awhile. A few weeks go by, sometimes a few months and I think to myself...you can have some wine. Two days later I'll be pulling out of a binge. I never drank until I was twenty-five, because I saw what it did to my father, who is the strongest man in the world. He died of cirrhosis when I was 28. All four of my grandparents were alcoholics, and of course, I accidentally married one 11 years ago. He drinks 7 days a week. My drinking was normal, until about the age of 35 when I went through something very traumatic. And I began to use it to sleep at night. And at some point, my genetics took over. Yesterday I drank, and for the first time my eight-year-old asked me, "mommy are you drunk?" So I'm spending the day cleaning and listening to sobriety stories. And you're right, sharing stories really does help.

Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. I know that an immense amount of shame comes with substance abuse and one of my goals is to help others know that they are not alone. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. 🙂

That's right! Sometimes it's just one minute at a time and that's okay too.
