Schistosomiasis could be the condition the daughter is suffering from. The common nature is bilharzia. It is an infection caused by freshwater parasitic worms in certain tropical and subtropical countries.The fresh water becomes contaminated from infected animal or human urine or faeces. The parasites penetrate human skin to enter the bloodstream and migrate to the liver, intestines and other organs. Symptoms include bleeding in urination. They need medical treatment. Some parasites can hide or become inactive so if an intense test is not done by an advanced laboratory they won't detect it.

Piccanto, the lady's daughter that got a disease from swimming in a river probably got bilharzia or schistosomiasis. Let them try a medication called Praziquantel or BILTRICIDE tablet. 600 mg Dose is 3.times a day, 4 to 6 hours apart with a meal and 8oz of water. Check with a doctor too. Hope this helps. Hope you have this medication in Ghana.
