I’m kind of surprised that people seem to be mocking the first story and nobody seems to feel the sadness in it or even the goodness in it. A young black man in a tough world going down the wrong path. He’s only 15 but he comes on stage and admits that he just wants his daddy. There’s so much beauty in that story and I for one felt a connection with it because instead of acting like a spoiled brat with no sense, he was vulnerable and honest and strong about what he really wanted. Idk if I believe him that he shot someone at 12 for bumping into him, I think it’s entirely possible that he just wanted to add shock value to his story so his father would get it. I could be wrong though, who knows. I would much rather watch a story like that, see that ending, then most of these horrible parents that come crawling on that stage not giving a damn about their kids and being proud of that. A father who wants to change and do better and a son who does too. I so hope they mended their broken relationship and that he grew up to be a good man.

@@onnie.6815 I felt his vulnerability for real. Both of them, actually. I think he was embellishing somewhat on his kind of “I’m hard and a thug” persona, because he needed his dad to wake up and realize how possible that lifestyle is for him to get into if he doesn’t have his father. Like I said earlier, it’s entirely possible that he was really doing all of that. For some reason I just got the feeling that he is a much softer person then he’s letting on. More of a gut feeling I guess. I want an update on him!

The lack of responsibility & troubled life without a father's affection & drugs, may have been the reason for his stunted growth (mentally.) Proof was there in that kids really do need guidance & love. They also need & WANT parents to be stricter than not caring where they go. He was just honest enough to admit it. I really pray the father took it seriously & they both worked together to change their lives for the better! For the whole family & rest of the world.

His father knew he needed him. You can't tell me that wasn't a cry for love. I couldn't take his father seriously unfortunately. The poor kid, would rather get reprimanded just to know his father actually cares, esp about his feelings & safety. You don't wake up suddenly & realize your son just always needed love & you suddenly love him. They both really need to work on their bond & the Dad needs to WANT his son around & to help him, not just tell him what to do or not to do.

You need to show clear boundaries. If he is not willing to step up now, he wont once the baby is here. If he were mature, he'd be preparing for the baby and being reliable and consistent so you both are stable and ready for the child when he/she arrives. It's not easy, but you need to show him you have self respect and you put your child first. If he cant step up now, leave. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy surrounded by people who love you and care about you, people who are willing to help you be at your best and to be stable before your beautiful baby is born. This MIA Father keeps saying that he wants respect but respect is earned. If he hasn’t been there for his son then the son feels like he doesn’t love and care about him so of course he’s going to build up resentment towards him and look for some other father figure in the streets. I hope one day that Father realizes all the pain that he has caused his son and apologizes sincerely instead of just demanding respect for doing nothing really. He should be thanking the mother as well for holding it down while he was in and out of jail and she had to do everything herself.

To me it sounded like he was trying to take some blame off himself by saying that and use it as a way out when he is being a bad father. Oh if you don't respect me then I won't be a father to you, it would be all your fault.

How wonderful! I hope this young man and his father keep a good relationship going. I know what it's like wanting your dad but never having him there. But I am a female. Now my dad hasn't even met my 6 kids. It's awful. That's why I am still with my kids dad. I chose a good man to be the father of my kids. I would never take them away from their dad. Even if we split. EVERY CHILD NEEDS A DAD! And props to the men who take on kids that are not theirs. A parent doesn't have to be biological.

This father might’ve never had his own dad either. Hopefully he learns to be a better man for his son and himself. It’s never too late to make a positive change. Keba needs love and guidance instead of being yelled at. She’s been hurt and is obviously still in pain. I wish she had been approached with more love and compassion as opposed to just being attacked. Young women like her often end up found dead. This was hard to watch.

Kevin Jr is a sweet boy. I love that he referred to him as his daddy still. He's just a kid that needs his daddys love and attention. He's doing the things he was doing for attention. I really hope that he kept his word and helped his son and nourished that love he needs.
