Hey! im in Sophomore year at a university in Pakistan, and the only thing im wishing right is if you had made this video 2 years ago. This video feels like a conversation with someone who is not only a ridiculosuly talented individual, but whose heart is in the right place. Thank you so much! I was having trouble with the intellectual vitality essay. I wanted to talk about Math or Neuroscience, but I was afraid that wasn’t the right move. I decided to talk about the sounds and rhythms I hear everyday and occasionally connect it back to math or neuroscience. I did the essay about what is meaningful to you about a series of events that led me to pursue neuroscience.

Wow! It appears you have diverse interests - particularly art, comp. sci etc. My question for you is: did your main passions in highschool relate to your chosen major? I enjoy French and English; however, my plan is to double major in French and Biomeducal engineering. Great video!

Yes on my application I put CS+Humanities (and I wanted the humanities to be art). I think your plan is great. Honestly though, what you put on your application for your major for STANFORD doesn’t really matter. They are flexible and encourage students to try out multiple things.

Thank u so much for your vid! I’m often worried about how sincere my essays might seem to the AOs. I wrote an extremely personal essay for my common app, but I’m worried they might perceive it as a just a sob story.

It depends how you right it. Make sure to not just focus on the challenges but emphasize the steps you took to address it and how it influenced your values as a person!

Hi Dyllen! For the "Last two Summer" essay, would you recommend saying the specific name of the program you take? (My counselor recommends to do so but I think that would be exactly the same as my activity list) Thanks a lot!

Hey! I think it is much more creative to say what you were doing within the program in a fun and new way rather than restating the name of the program!! I totally agree that otherwise it's just the same as your activity list :)
