OP had an idea something was going to happen, but left the watch in the safe anyway? Go back to your room, retrieve it, and walk out of the house, making a scene to show you had the watch in your possession. I did that with my GameBoy many many years ago with my younger sister. I worked all summer to earn enough money to buy one. Entitled sister just demanded one from our parents, but they told her to do what I did, get a summer job. She always demanded to borrow it. I was going to a weekend camp, no electronics allowed, so had to leave it at home. When I was walking out towards the car, I saw my sister's grin on her face. I turned, went back to my room, grabbed the GameBoy and walked out with it, showing it to my sister. She yelled and yelled as I handed it to my best friend, who lived a few doors from me, to look after for the weekend.
