This is part one of me sharing my story of leaving the Amish culture at the age of seventeen. The journey of leaving the Amish community at such a young age was not easy but I being raised in the Amish community also taught me a lot of thing that I would not know today.
Although the path is not always I hope my story inspires you to keep believing in yourself and keep going regardless of what obstacles stand in your way!

These people who are talking down to you are sinning themselves because it clearly says that judge as you want to be judged and ye who lives without sin can cast the first stone too and as far as the clothing issues there it clearly states in the bible says come as you are too it doesn't say that you have to dress like them either and I'm proud to hear that you have leaft them too now idk that they were like that here either okay have a great day now

I just happened to find you WHAT A STORY! I too left my house because I lived under ridiculous rules, extremely strict father and a very jealous dominating stepmother, I was burned from studying all of my life (pre med) I had a boyfriend they hardly let me see, I couldn’t go anywhere. He asked me to marry him, my dad said no, I didn’t have his blessing and he wouldn’t go to my wedding, I was heartbroken he was the world to me. I didn’t speak to him for two years. I left eloped and we have been married 41 years. I’m so happy I found you

Its hard to connect to the divine with too much limitations organized society at large is not very different from the strictness of the Amish just different rules often adding up to much insanity. Are you really "leaving the Amish" or are you just following Gods calling to "spread the Amish" elsewhere into the world where you now live by personifying the best aspects of your culture to connect to those who never grew up in it? When God closes a door he always opens a window :) God bless you all :)

fear and self preservation serves only half the need, however, with all these people starting new communities with different rules that are merging societies together something magic is happening. There is definately good things about Amish culture to, and if you truly understand the horrors of war and statecraft you would know. Plus, there is toxic contracts I believe are held with at least some Amish councils with governments, its relation to Bureau of Land Management agreements with the cults of power similar to all other communities experiencing human trafficking. This is because THERE IS NO CITY RESERVE OR TOWN in the country without the influence of the Masonhood global government apparatus that just gets to live and left alone without PAYING RENT. So, lots of vulnerable children in reserves easy to snatch and rack up a big reputation red flags etc. The babies out of wedlock, as far as I understand they get trusted to agencies to adopt out in the cities not in the community, its done in secret, which allows for trafficking to go unnoticed. I have been at this stuff for a long time surviving childhood youth and adulthood in Ontario and the trafficking is organized by CIA and CSIS drugs to.

Moving hurts in all cultures. Having a voice in where you go and what you do is very important. It leads to anger when things are done to us without choice yet we are not able to find a way to survive away from that situation.

My Grandmother was AnaBabtist, I remember how strict she was, when I visited her I had to abide by her rules. I had to wear dresses to my anlkes, cover my head and arms. She had no electric or running water in the house. It drove me nuts, I had lived in the real world and just didn't understand why she had to be so strict.

Ich hätte in einer solch strengen religiösen Umgebung schon spätestens mit 8 Probleme bekommen. In such a strict religious community, I would have run into problems so much earlier. before my 10th birthday. Ich habe immer schon viele Fragen gestellt. I always asked questions. Luckily, my family was never member of any church or religion - and so am I. But just as an adult I can fully appreciate this freedom, as I can say what I think - no religion can tell me what I shall say. I love your videos! We are literally driving home right now from Harrison Valley, Pennsylvania. A young man in our community left the Amish with his brother, he came back and immediately his fathe (very heavy-handed, also the bishop of the community) got him treatments. It's like his father thought he needed to have whatever in him that desired to be English gitten out of his mind somehow. I've seen that a lot as the driver of the Amish . I love your candidness and your passion! So many people just don't understand or believe that life isn't always sunshine and rainbows being Amish.

No where. Heaven is for those who repent of their sins, turn away from them, and believe in their heart that Jesus is God come in the flesh who died to pay for our sins & we then confess to others that we believe he is who he says he is. This is not just head knowledge. for it is with the heart (spiritual) that we believe & with the mouth we confess.

I'm one of the biggest atheists you'll ever meet. Last time I read the Buybull, it didn't say that only Amish Luddites went to heaven. Shunning people for not following the Ordnung is NOT what Jesus would do. He welcomed the stranger, hung out with sinners, clothed and fed the poor, you name it.

Although I was not Amish, I left a rules oriented conservative cul- like religion many years ago, and I have never looked back. My only question is why it took me so long, but I know the answer to that, it was raw, naked fear. Today, I know that any person or organization that can control your feelings can control your mind. People in a cult desperately want you to stay and will do and say anything to make you stay, because your leaving invalidates the feelings of those who choose to live in the safety of their gossip chamber of judgment. Jacques Cousteau once said something that helped me, perhaps it will mean to you what it does to me. " The conquering of fear, is the beginning of wisdom." I have found that to be true, and you will too.

I just came across your video. You're incredibly articulate, by the way. I can't imagine the courage it took for you to break away from the Amish community. Your story was compelling and heartbreaking at the same time--especially what I'd call the betrayal by your parents, when they read and burned your journals. I am wondering about one thing. I thought that at age 16, Amish adolescents engaged in a rite of passage called Rumspringa, where they were encouraged to go out and explore the outside world. Did you not do this? Thanks for sharing your experience. It reminds me of the experience of the Jewish Orthodox woman depicted in the Netflix movie "Unorthodox."
