You are lucky you didn't die. Thank you for sharing this. When I was in anorexia recovery in hospital for a month I shared a room with an obese girl. I wondered why she was in the hospital and thought to myself, she must be bulimic. Over the next two weeks I realized that she was deathly ill. Her vital stats were worse than mine, even though I "looked" anorexic and she didn't. I was so wrong. Whether you are fat or thin, you need to eat and nourish your body. Everybody needs to eat!

I have never commented on anything but you are describing my life. I am still on the edge and people just smile and say “well You Look Great.” You’re dead on with those words as you’re dying inside. No questions, no help. People smile at you more, men open doors for you... what are we teaching our children?

I am sorry to hear you are struggling Amanda and thank you for sharing your experience. It's such a tough place to be. One thing that really helped me was Christy Harrisons Food Psych Podcast. It became my lifeline as I worked hard to pull myself out of the eating disorder. There is a link to it on my website: staceymaria.ca/resources/ and a few other resources too. Thinking about you

Thank you for sharing this video. This is validating. My Atypical Anorexia began when I was 11 and I am now 49, I have recently relapsed and am seeking help. I am a PhD Psychologist and do Eating Disorder Prevention work and have a lot of shame for being a hypocrite right now. I resonate so deeply with everything that you are talking about in this video! My Spouse is desperately concerned about how quickly and how much I have lost, but seeking help is a challenge for those of us who have Atypical Anorexia. Shifting our paradigm to be Body Positive and understand that Eating Disorders occur in all body sizes is essential. I am grateful for your honesty. Thank you

Thank you for making this video. There is not a lot of content around this and there is still a lot of shame for folks to share their stories. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
