OMG that is so cool about how your dad taught you things using math! “Nerd alert!” - hilarious. I wish I had grown up with math oriented guidance. My dad was a musician (kind of math-ish) and my mom was a nurse (also kind of math-ish) , but neither one incorporated math into every day life. They never said they didn’t like math, but they never said they did! I’ve been scared of math all my life until today, when I watched your base 10 video. I noticed there’s a video on “the dreaded” word problems; can’t wait for that one!!❤

Even though I grew up struggling with math, I didn't dislike it. I knew the reason I struggled with it was because I wasn't good at memorizing algorithms I didn't understand. The problem was that there wasn't anyone around me that could explain things to me. Even the teacher did math by algorithmic memorization. Whenever I asked about why something worked, there was no answer given. When I asked about alternative approaches, I was told that the standard way was the way to do the problem.

Hi (I don't know your name) Thanks for your vids. Quick question. I sense that my 3 year old (he will be 4 next in April month) has an above-average capacity for math and abstract thinking. I think he was able to count to three when he was less than a year old. He counted to ten he was less than two. And I think he started to make basic addition before he was 3 years old, and now that he is almost 4 he is learning the concept of multiplication (he does know how to count by two's or three's, four's, and five's since he was barely three years old) I think he even understands the concept of 1/2 and 3/5, (fractions) and that you can go from 1 to 1.2 and then to 1.3, in order to get to 2, but also he understands in some sort of capacity, that there are hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, etc. He does know that numbers have no end. I even explained to him the concept of negative numbers (he is very interested in weather, daily temperature, and seasons. What kind of books can I read, so I can get a better understanding of Math and teach him and make Math more interesting and fun to him? Do you recommend Polya's Book entitled "How To Solve It"? What other resources? I recently acquired some cards in the form of a triangle in Amazon. ( www.amazon.com.mx/dp/B00K6T9L6E/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_P1QDMZ4T9DDGJNWX0Z72?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) My goal is to help him to understand that numbers can be multiplied either way 3x4 or 4x3 to get the same result 12 and then that division is the inverse operation of multiplying. I am not an engineer like your Dad, plus I don't consider myself very good at math, however, I do think math is very interesting, Maybe the best way to learn it is to teach it to my kid. I do this for my child because I know if he is good at Math his life will be richer in general. (and he will not have nightmares struggling with school) So I just want to help him with that. plz help me plz when i was child my parents and my teacher used To beat me really hard because i cant solve math problems or i cant do my math assignments they always beat me they always say that im stupid in math
