I so love to watch your videos. I also live on my own and like you, I don’t feel alone. My friends always seem to feel sorry for me and are always inviting me to meet in coffee shops or to go to other social gatherings. They worry so for me! It amuses me, though I am grateful for their concern. I just find it interesting that so many people find being alone difficult. Well, we are all different. As a child, I spent many happy hours following my dear Pa around his garden. We lived in South Africa and he was a great gardener, growing all our vegetables, keeping chickens and goats. I didn’t taste cow’s milk until I came to Australia! I was 16 (70 now). Daddy and I were very similar in temperament and I’m glad I am like him. He took pleasure in seeing new buds on fruit trees, he said eggs were like little miracles and always thanked the hens 😌. Now that I’m retired, I realise how much I absorbed of my father’s slow, quiet philosophy of life. Grateful for nature, he was and never ceased to be amazed by the sight of a bee’s bottom disappearing in a flower and the goats bleating for him to come and milk them, they stood, lovingly and “let down” for him willingly. He would thank them so gently. I remember the big pomegranate tree, the peach, lemon, apple and pear trees that were always burgeoning with fruit that I ate straight from the tree, warmed by the sun. I could go on and on but mustn’t. Just wanted to tell you that you remind me so much of my father, your gratitude of and wonder at nature. I love your home, it seems so calm and I’m very inspired by you. Your videos are the ones I watch when I just want to sit quietly and relax for a while. I often fall asleep to the sound of your voice, I play one of your videos and just listen to your commentary. Thank you for sharing your life. You have a beautiful spirit. Regards from Australia 🇦🇺☺️

I have had my microwave for 39 years, and I use it most days - it is still going! I love your stoves, and so agree what you are saying about older things seem to last much longer than the new stuff they make now. I love your views from your windows. So good to see more of yourself these days, thank you. I treasure every one of your vids you make. My news for today is that I have decided to stop drinking alcohol as of today - which I know is going to be a tough journey for me, as I am on my own with my dog, and have been drinking more and more every day for the past year. Please wish me luck! I know you did the same, and it would be good to hear how it went for you at the start of that journey. xxx

I don't know how I came across this episode but watching it made me giggle at the similarities to your home and mine. I'm sitting n my bedroom with an old iron wood stove and an old Le Creuset kettle on top. The room is full of art, pieces of wood chewed by beavers, carvings and things I have gathered over the years. It makes the room feel like a womb of warm energy and goodness. Thank you for helping me recognize what I have created! I can't wait to watch more.

Your sitting room & office look so cozy, as does the rest of Bealtaine Cottage. When my home was built in 1998, the contractor was supposed to build a proper Rumsford fireplace in the living room. Clearly he didn’t know how to build this energy efficient design, so by the time we realized he had just built a traditional one with a massive 4x4 foot opening, it was too late. We discovered just how inefficient it was a year later during an ice storm that took out our power for a week. A year later a small Danish wood stove went in & keeps most of the house toasty warm! Your office stove was a true bargain! Enjoy!!

When you mentioned how some might not think of Willow for the wood stove, I completely understood. For the last 34 years we've used Elm. Most folks don't like the smell of it burning, yet the heat it produces is comparable to oak. The Elm is disliked by many, but we've come to respect it for it's drought resistance, a fast grower, and when it's life cycle is finished, it warms our home. We always look forward to Fall & Winter with our wood stove glow.

Wonderful to see you Colette and to spend a little time with you in the warmth and coziness of the cottage. I installed a wood stove about 10 years ago, best investment I ever made and the heat is just like a warm blanket. I am sitting by my mine right now as a matter of fact as we had our first frost of the season last night. It feels lovely. I have a "modest" request Colette, as I know you have so much time on your hands (smiles). Could you make your video's about an hour long and post one daily? Then everything would be darn near perfect in my world. Yes, I know I am being a "bit" selfish but I just find so much joy when I am "visiting" you and Bealtaine. Colette, I totally am beginning to understand what you mean about what we’ve been told is real and what is true reality. Since moving to the forest my perceptions have shifted drastically. I found that I have willow on my property so I’m going to start harvesting what I cut back before winter. Hugs as always to you and everyone here. 💕✨I am saving up to buy your books bit by bit. I can’t wait!

I also use a wood stove to heat my home here in Portugal, though we won't actually start needing heat for at least another month, and I look forward to the warmth and smell. Some of the wood I burn is my own, trimmings and prunings.. We buy most of our wood from local woodsmen who trim the olive trees, cut dead wood etc.but I stack it myself and feel very wealthy when I look at my wood pile, such a sense of abundance..I gather pine cones and bark for kindling... It's part of a peaceful life.

Colette, I hope I discover upon the history of your Cow picture on one of your videos. I do love him like all your decorations. Sometimes I weep because I want to escape this world of hate and evil and just be one with nature as you are. My life is good, don't get me wrong, however, I'm immersed in a job that is not suiting me after 23 years and Covid has forced me to see things i never knew about. I do have a beautiful piece of Property. I just want the guts to quick my corporate job and do what I love. Anyhow, Thank you very much for sharing so we all can enjoy your beautiful place : Mimi :)

Lovely to see your studio and cottage looking so cosy! I must admit I haven't been checking in as much recently as I've not been online so often and very busy building my own little studio in my garden where I can write, read play music and work. Very positive energies going on. Much love to you Colette 💕xxx

I love the sound of the wind.... Love your stove. It looks so cosy.!!! Yes, the old things are definitely the best. I saw the mouse run across the path straight away as I have a phobia,... I did give out a squeal as to me it looked the size ofcan elephant! it's any wonder it fit in the bushes. Now I'm getting myself worked up!! 🤣 I'm laughing cos I'm miles away.. love your videos 💕

I had an electric kettle as a wedding present, it lasted me for 25 years as I could just keep replacing the element . Now it seems I’m buying a new kettle every two or three years. My cooker is thirty years old, but they have stopped making parts for it so if any small thing goes wrong I will have to buy a new cooker, it does make me cross to be forced to spend money unnecessarily nowadays. Most of my furniture is family hand-me-downs or second hand shop buys and will go on being beautiful and useful long after I am gone.

Our first refrigerator was over thirty years old when we accepted it. We had it for another twenty years and it was still running, but not large enough. No refrigerator made today would run for more than fifty years.

THE CHICKEN LAMP! My heart sings. I was just reading about that 'other worldliness' today. There has been no language for it in English. The closest term for it is Latin 'mundus imaginalis' - the imagined world. There is a reference to scholar Henry Corbin's (a friend of Jung), who coined this name in his essay 'Mundus Imaginalis , or the Imaginary and the Imaginal', an English translation can be found online, but I have not read it yet. An example of something in the Imaginal Realm is love -- It is real, but not material nor imaginary. Imaginal, a third realm. In Arabic it is alam al-mithal, at a time which is no time, in a place which is no place.

I love your cottage...🏡😍 I can imagine how snug and cosy you must feel, hunkering inside those thick walls, a fire going in every stove, when the storm is roaring outside.... And by the way, you have the exact same doorbell as me...the one with the cat on top...😊
