But in all honesty, if Asgore had mentioned his son at all when discussing how he broke the barrier, Asriel would have likely suffered the same fate as his father. I mean, how do you explain Asriel's inclusion in Asgore's plot of using human souls to leave the underground? So in a sense, Asgore protected Asriel and the other monsters by taking all the blame on himself and making himself out to be the villain (which he kinda was). He knew that he had no way out of the situation, so he made sure to take full responsibility.

Can't agree with that, Asgore was a good king. Frisk was a happy coincidence. A true king must ensure the survival of his people who were wrongfully doomed to live in a hole until they ran out of resources and died. That is actually what I liked about Asgore. Frisk had the determination to put her soul on the line, but Asgore had the determination to sacrifice his soul so that his people could survive. This is all despite being abandoned by everyone who he cared for. Morals and right and wrong are ideals, as in things you'd like to be if a time was ideal. You can choose to cling to them in times of adversity, and you may die because of it. This is your individual choice. As a king however, you're responsible for every person who believes in you. In this sense, clinging to an idea is nothing but selfish grand standing "Your family is dead, but it's ok because I did the "right thing" ". The world, despite frisk super awesome anime powers of hopes and dreams, can sometimes be kill or be killed and as stated previously he has a responsibility to make sure his people are not killed. Their situation was emblematic of that. So as sad as it is that the duty fell on the nicest guy in the kingdom, I think he has strong integrity and certainly does not lack it. Thanks for prompting this rant btw, please don't think I'm mad.....I just kinda tend to do this sometimes
