You're an inspiration to others with a superpower and you've educated us that don't! I've been teaching myself ASL for a few months now, but since you mentioned your cochlear implant on the show I've started to research cochlear implants and watch videos about how they work and what they sound like, so thank you for educating us! Sending love from Miami

you are an absolute star, and all my best wishes for you and andrew, as you both set off on a wonderful adventure, as one of the most prefect couples i have seen in many a year, thank goodness you made it back together on the show, i could not understand why all heads turned with the so called bombshells that came in, as the only bombshell was the very very handsome andrew who looked a natural looking boy with no phoney looking teeth etc, but to my delight you realised what you had was right in front of you. You are a very brave lassie, and you fought hard to get where you are now, and it is all well deserved.❤

my story is so similar to hers, i wear hearing aids, she wears cochlear implant. my mum found out i was deaf at 2 half years old (maybe younger, thats when i got 2 hearing aids) i grew up doing speech therapy & sign language. went to public schools. only deaf person in my family too! thank you for showing your superpower on national tv... everyone really needs to learn more about deafness & that we are also normal people! love you tasha! xoxo

Loved this video Tasha! I have a cochlear implant on my left ear, I was implanted at 1yo in September 2000. I was (then) the first youngest British child to undergo the surgery. I can resonate with your feelings. Being deaf is a challenge, but I felt good knowing your time in Love Island educated everyone on deafness. Proud to be profoundly deaf 🦻🏼x

Come to think of it, the one thing I would reproach Love Island for is not getting much of ur experiences of being deaf being shown on TV, since it's really important for ppl to know this. It's a superpower indeed, and I wish they gave us more of that, rather than a lottodo with Gemma's Dad and all.

I’m so grateful you went into such detail about it cause I genuinely find it fascinating and it’s a hard thing to understand auditory perceptions that are different from someone who was born hearing without someone with hearing loss explaining it. If you ever do another Q&A I’d be so interested to know how it’s impacted your dating life pre-love island… maybe I’m wrong but I imagine it’s not something everyone is so embracing of

From someone who went undiagnosed with single-sided deafness until I was 17 & now living with hearing loss, I cannot thank you enough for speaking so candidly about this & raising awareness. When I first got my hearing aid, I would always make sure it was covered by leaving my hair down but not anymore. Glad to say I now wear my hearing aid with pride so I can show off my superpower🦻♥

Tasha, you are a superwoman inside and out ❤️ You was my favourite islander from day 1, not just because of your ‘superpower’ but because how genuine and normal you are. I love this video you explained your ‘Superpower’ in great detail, you are a true ambassador to the deaf community, listening to your story was very emotional to hear and watch, but it proves what a strong, beautiful woman you are and how it doesn’t define you!!. I changed from wearing a normal hearing aid 🦻 in my twenties/thirties (which wasn’t working for me) to a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) back in 2018 and it’s changed my life massively 🙌🏼 wishing you Andrew all the best for your future together and you personally a very success and happy life, keep being YOU never change 💞xx

You are absolutely incredible! I love how you’ve reframed what most people would call a “disability” and called it a superpower, because it really is. You’re so inspirational and it really just goes to show how strong you are as a person. ♥️ I know you talked about how sound is different for you, and I think it would be REALLY cool (if possible) if you could make a video talking/showing more about how YOU hear sound/voices. Like try and imitate how different sounds sound to you. I can’t imagine meeting someone new and having to train myself to understand them, the only possible similarity I could have is if I met someone with a really strong (maybe Russian or Irish?) accent and couldn’t understand them at first. You did everyone proud on Love Island, and have continued to do so! You’re such an amazing person and such a superhero ♥️

I used to work with 2 little boys (alongside a BSL interpreter) who were deaf, one was completely deaf & came from a deaf family and didn't want to wear hearing aids (he found them uncomfortable and preferred using just BSL) the other little boy came from a hearing family and had a cochlear implant but could only hear deep or very high pitched sounds. he couldn't make our voices or anything the way i saw them communicate and adapt to their surroundings and people talking to them was so incredible and the more i learned the more amazing i found it, because of everything they did. it did inspire me to start learning BSL. i think it's amazing you're so open and honest about it, and teaching hearing people about the experience of being deaf and what stuff you go through! your work and inspiration and education about it had been amazing- i'm sure you've made the deaf community very proud!

I'm deaf in one ear (and have been completely before) and was fascinated to hear more about your experiences and the community, Even on a small scale I can understand some of what you were saying in my own life and thank you for pushing the good fight!

So inspirational my son has cochlear implants as your self was born deaf such a struggle for him with school lot of people have no idea or understanding what cochlear is how they work or how it effects the learning journey. You inspire and show young children that they can achieve anything and not to feel different❤️

It’s so good that you are sharing your story. I know someone who has a cochlear implant so I understand how hard it can be. So well done
