Had my driving test yesterday which I failed as the instructor asked me to follow Centrum instead of Lillhagen and I missed that round about as I did not read last place is Centrum, he made me to do turn around from next right small road then. After turning to Lillhagen side next 2 round about does not have any sign with Centrum so I asked instructor (because I wanted to avoid another mistake) but he did not respond anything and I slowed down to that he intervene and failed for it 😌 He was an old guy and bit strict I felt as he was screaming at me after 1st miss and did not allow me to take next round about instead asked me to do turn from small right lane which made me more nervous. This was the exact route until Tagene after that they again ask me to go back to E6 > 155 > Backaplan > Parking in Beltima > Säve > back to Traffikverket. Thanks a lot for all videos they are very helpful and a complement that even traffikskola instructors suggest your videos 🙏
@ClearRoadDriving6 ай бұрын
Sorry that you failed your exam. But don’t loose hope and keep trying. I completely agree with you that some instructors are strict…As long as you do it safely, missing exits on roundabouts is not a problem for most examiners. So it feels the examiner you faced is strict. Happy to hear that the videos are helping and being suggested by instructors! I also want to thank you for sharing your exam route…I will use it as an input for my next videos.

at 23:08 I did not hear your engine raising to move quickly out of the track. Is it because of the pedastrian crossing?
@ClearRoadDriving Жыл бұрын
You are watching the videos really in detail and raising interesting points, thanks for that :) In this case, at 22:56 you can see that there is a cyclist warning and this cyclist warning is for a cyclist passage right after the railway crossing. So when I pass the railway crossing, I can't just accelerate over it. Definitely, I shouldn't be slow on the railway crossing. But I will have to also carefully watch potential cyclists (and of course pedestrians as well) that can suddenly show up right after the railway crossing. So it is a compromise between clearing the railway crossing quickly, but at the same time crossing it with a speed that is safe enough to not hit potential cyclists or pedestrians after the railway crossing. But In this case, other interesting point is what should I do if there were a vehicle in front of me and that vehicle stops right after the railway crossing to let pass pedestrians/cyclists? -this is a real trap for a new driver. Because if I am not proactive enough in this condition, I might be forced to stop on the railway crossing (this is a real dangerous situation and is a definite fail on the practical exam). Because the space seems not to be enough for two vehicles to stop right after the railway crossing. So a proactive driver should avoid stopping on the railway crossing and rather stop before the railway crossing or even before the traffic light if he notices the situation early.

at 17:43 the sign board shows rabout 3rd exit for Lilhagen but at the next rabout it doesn't show any sign board and the exit to be taken. Does it mean we should follow the same previous direction sense until we find the next sign board? Thank you so much for all the answers! :)
@ClearRoadDriving Жыл бұрын
I think you are referring roundabouts at 2:43 and 3:24, generally if you don't have a sign that shows different direction to your destination or you don't get instruction from the examiner, you can continue driving straight. But if you are confused, it is always okay to ask the examiner....In my case, on the second roundabout, I continued driving straight (second exit) because there is no sign that tells me Lilhagen is on a different direction and the examiner also didn't gave me another instruction.

@ClearRoadDriving Жыл бұрын
At 5:05, I already said that the examiner asked me to go to E6 Oslo before reaching to that direction board. Examiners change the direction you need to follow based on where you are and based on which direction they want you to go on the next intersection. They give the new direction in good time ahead of the direction board.

Thank you so much for such an informative video 🎉.. Just I have one doubt like you were mentioning we don't need to indicate while entering roundabout but we need to indicate while exiting ( right indicator). But most of the time you have turned on the indicator when you enter the roundabout. So I'm a little confused about this approach. Please don't mind if my understanding is wrong as I am in the beginners stage😅 Cheers
@ClearRoadDriving Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. The Roundabout rule states that one must indicate right when Leaving the roundabout. The rule doesn't state if we should indicate or not when we enter the Roundabout. You can see the roundabout rules on page 44 and 45 of the 2022 Driving License Book. So the examiner will not fail you if you don't indicate when you enter roundabouts. But it is good practice to indicate left when you enter roundabouts if you are NOT exiting on the first exit (turning left) or second exit (going straight). This practice will clearly tell other road users about your intention. Thus, on the video I indicate left when I enter the roundabout if I am going to use the third or fourth exit. But if I am going to use the first or second exit of the roundabout (so that to turn left or go straight), I will not indicate left when I enter the roundabout. Pretty soon I will prepare a separate video about roundabouts that will explain those facts in detail. Thanks!

I see no indication at 11:15, immediate fail? when was the best time to start indication? because we cannot check the blindspot untill the truck move away.
@ClearRoadDriving Жыл бұрын
I indicated at around 10:39 which is heavily covered by my sound while explaining the situation and the noise created by the lorry also covered the indicator sound generated while it is kept on. At around 11:30 you can hear a very low "ka" sound which is the sound of the indicator stick while I turned it off....But on the raw video (without my sound and other editing), the indicator is pretty clear and I can consider sending you the raw video if you are curious :) . But the main point here is the question when to indicate, the short answer for this is that you can start indicating when you start driving on the acceleration lane, then you can check your mirrors and blindspot while your indication is running. You can make both lane changes with a single indicator. The indicator I turned on at 10:39 was running until I made the second lane change.

At 11:09 when you had to give way for the truck to pass on 70kmph road, how much did you have to slow down to allow the pass and then merge? Do you remember? I’d like to know how much slowness to do such a manoeuvre on a 70 road is acceptable. Thank you for the good video. 🎉
@ClearRoadDriving7 ай бұрын
I don’t remember the exact number that was being displayed on the speedometer. But, generally, lifting your feet off from the accelerator is enough to let the other car pass. This is, of course, assuming that the traffic on the other lane is not very slow. If you want to see what to do while merging to a a crowded motor way, have a look at the recent video I posted about manual driving.

10:00 blindspot check only applicable in multi lane round about. So it is not necessary to check blind spot for Single lane roundabout during exit?
@ClearRoadDriving Жыл бұрын
It is evident that on a single lane roundabout the appearance of other road users on your blindspot is less probable. But concluding that you don't need to check your blindspot just because it is single lane is wrong....Because Motorists/cyclists usually try to ride through the narrowest spaces you can think of....check this video link and see how the cyclist crosses the roundabout and you can imagine what could have happened if the car driver made a slight side movement to the left at the same time as when the cyclist tries to pass on his side: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKjIlpKwi6yLbNk
