I'm relatively new to riding. I've actually only ridden the 501. After hearing the weights of the other DS options I just can't imagine them being any heavier. I mean, it's heavy! Also, I can't imagine having much less power. I was thinking however of eventually transitioning to the 701 to get those higher tarmac miles.

What an awesome review! Really enjoyed it. Getting the 2024 501S when it hits the showroom floor next month. Currently on a 2020 KTM300XC and will probably keep it just for the knarly Az single track.

Hey really enjoyed that pal. I have an old Swedish style Husky 510 & it gives a similar riding experience. OK not nearly as refined for sure. Also have a twin cylinder 220 kg road bike & the idea of taking something that huge on the trails does not appeal to me at all. Understand your decision totally.

I have a 22 KTM 500, and it looks like you have used a lot of Taco Moto Co's equipment (my assumption) do yourself a great favor and put a Rekluse in it! This will completely end the stalling and if you use Jeff Slavens recommendations for the spring set up for the Rekluse. You won't sacrafice any clutch action and it won't stall ever! I have the same issue with a 350 as well. My 350 is a 21 and the 500 has more time on it than the 350.😃

Great review! Love being able to see what the bike can do along with the commentary. Nice job! What are you wearing over your gloves?

Thanks for your comments! I am wearing Mobius wrist braces. These are designed to help prevent hypertension of my wrists in a crash.

Not as bad as you might think. I have a 300, and it is for sure lighter, but the 501 isn’t far off. Any bike being lifted from the low side of a trail will be heavy. The 501 is doable by your self, an ADV is not, at least for me.
