my interpretation of that lyric (When I fight you used to tell me I was brave) is when their relationship was once there she felt that that was real but he just betrayed taylor and that is why when Taylor fights figuratively or the hate that she doesn't deserve but he's on her back but then again he is just another betray. The person she loved is her worst enemy.

Whenever you had to face hardship, they'd encourage you by saying things like "you're brave " ,"i believe you can pass this" etc..
