Very pretty. Love the colors and the way you removed some of the mica powder with tape. Glad I watched a different way to use frames. Hint: If not using resin to hold the clay in the frames, coat the inside of the frame with liquid clay. Then coat with polyurethane varnish.

I’ve used the tape/mica technique, but used a single strip of tape per section/line. Since I also work with UV/regular resin as well, I put the strips - one by one, lined up the same way - in a silicone mold, press down, and viola! I have a mica imprint on the mold. Of course, when the time comes, I pour resin into the mold and I have earrings/pendants etc and no mica waste. I always use a cheap cheap CHEEEEEEAP transparent tape so it gives up all that goodness easily! I’d rather use a lot of cheap tape than waste my precious mica.

Those are gorgeous. Yes resin will yellow if left in the sun. Sometimes you can recieve a purchase of resin through the mail and it will arrive with one of the components yellow.. UV and 2part resin have a tendency to yellow and that yellowing can ruin your projects.

They are all beautiful. The colors remind me of a landscape field of wheat, too. You could add crows and even a scarecrow along with sheaves of wheat. Great job!!!

Hi…thanks for asking.❤️ I just don’t want the hassle of shipping etc. At my age, I would just rather make things out of clay for the pleasure it brings me. I really, really enjoy giving it to those that I come across who perhaps need “something good to happen” in their lives. Nurses, waitresses etc….those who serve others day after day after day. I did do some craft shows when I first started claying. I never found it satisfying…especially not as satisfying as giving pieces to those I mentioned above. If you enjoy it and you want to sell, I hope you take that step and do it. God bless you.

Hello, I watched this video last evening as I couldn't sleep, from the sadness of losing Wendy, watching this helped, there pieces of clay jewelry that you made here are gorgeous, wow you are very talented. But you mentioned that you don't even try to sell any of your jewelry, I am surprised about this.

Joanie may I ask what temp and for how long in the oven. I am a newby and I used premo turquoise and it came out too dark. I used 275 for 30 minutes. Yours stayed true to the color. I am using my home oven(digital) dial and using a foil tent also😊

Of course!🩷 I bake for an hour at 275. I bake my pieces on a tile that I place on one of my cookie sheets. I cover it with a large foil pan. You may want to put an oven thermometer in your oven to see how hot it is actually getting. Your oven may get hotter than 275 even if you set it on 275. Happy to answer any of your questions anytime. Have a great day!❤️ God bless you!

I tried using the tape method to lift mica from my clay and it stuck to the clay and made texture. I don't know if my Clay was too warm and sticky or if I used the wrong tape ...
@grannyjclay-joannieholdhus925
@grannyjclay-joannieholdhus925 Жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry that happened to you.❤️ I use scotch tape and sometimes clear strapping tape. When I lay it on my piece to lift the pearl-ex, I tap it onto my piece fairly lightly. You use more tape doing it that way, but it works well. I have had tape stick to my piece before as well…not fun. Maybe a lighter hand when doing it? Since I wasn’t there, I’m not sure why yours stuck to your piece. Don’t give up! I have had to experiment a lot with different clay techniques over the last 30 years. Some work…others do not work. It is worth the time to try and figure out why something isn’t working….you’ll get there!! God bless you!!
