My Tesla Camper (in English)

I converted my 6-seater Tesla Model X into a camper, by removing the two 2nd row seats. This created a flat space for a comfortable bed of 2 x 1.4 mtr (6.6 x 4.6 ft) and huge storage beneath it.
I blinded the windows, loaded a powered coolingbox, provide 220 volts and 2 charge ports and made it is detachable, so it can turn back to a normal car after the summer.
The only problem were these massive unfoldable 6-seater seats from the 2nd row, that Tesla bolted down.
Still, I managed to convert it into a practical camper and travelled 4.500 km / 2.888 mi with it during two weeks.

Very cool setup! The tumble forward middle row in the X made the S seem the better camper but this fixes that. Plus, kids love cubbies like that! :)

Definitely a great idea something I’m willing to explore if I have a camper by four I think this is one of the best camper conversions I’ve seen. I do have a question. How do you cover the windows on the top so nobody sees you any ideas?

How do you camp in the 5 seater? I have a 4Runner right now that I’ve camped in and seats fold flat, I wanted to know how I could do the same with a model X. Waiting for the cybertruck to replace my 4Runner but if I can do the same with an X I would do that

@@tnygp I use an Exped Synmat Duo LW. I chose it because it stores in a small package. Yes the seats fold completely flat. This pad pinches in at the wheel wells but not enough to bother me and mine. But lucky you, recently Exped came out with a new model with cutouts for the wheel well! www.expedusa.com/products/megamat-duo-txy The only con to this model is that it doesn't pack down as small. But that is because its 3.9 inches thick, mine is 2.8. Mine is super comfy. Side sleeping I don't bottom out. The LW will be crazy comfy. Depending on your needs either will make you happy.

What would The Auto-Level accomplish. I’ve camped on uneven ground and don’t really notice if I’m a little bit at an angle.

A little bit uneven probably doesn’t matter. When camping in my X I use a sleeping bag and the pad. Depending on how much slip there is in between those materials not being level can be a problem. I’ve camped in a tent when the ground was only slightly sloped and found myself at the low end of the tent in the middle of the night.

Software update does not work, as it won't accept the selftest (missing seats). Removing them with experience can be done in half an hour. I do not have a photo of the message in the screen (shown as small popup ath the bottom, does not bother you I guess. I do not have the X anymore, so can't make a photo.

I use some kind of sound absorbing foam, from the DIY store. Its easy to cut, firm enough and darkens great.

I had wanted to do this with an X but read about the warning and lack of updates, I ended up getting a Y tho. I'd love the storage area for my audio equipment. I've seen someone say they made a "dumb adapter" from seat parts that fooled the car into thinking the seats were in, I'll try and find that forum post. but this looks amazing.

Did the airbag light goes off after you reinstall the seats? How did you reset that? (The yellow connector at the base of the seats is for airbag)

Not yet. I did create everything to split the flat floor so that it allows room for one chair on the second row. This allows room for one person to sleep (or for storage).

It shows a popup (also while driving) but its not annoying. No beeps while driving.

Yes, it complained that the seats were missing, but I could drive normally and all systems worked fine. The warning in the bottom of the instrucment cluster keeps visible though, but it not annoying.

@@Daginski the airbags in the backseat are gone of course, but no warnings of those remaining being disabled whatsoever. I did not test that of course ;-)

Hello For your cooler, it take battery from small battery or from big Tesla battery ?

It's connected to the small 12 volt battery. This small battery is always charged/kept full by the big battery, so no worries.
