I haven't heard of many successful stories of men setting off into the sunset with massage therapists and living happily ever after. It's usually crash and burn. But I agree with you on middle-class Thai women. Thai women who are middle and upper class don't usually go for foreigners. They prefer Thai men on and above their economic level. Unfortunately, this leaves the low-quality Thai women, which a lot of foreigners end up with. Now don't get me wrong, as a farang, you can still get a decent Thai lady with a good job and good morals, but such Thai lady is hard to find and you will have to take your time through vetting and getting to know her properly.

It's not complicated at all. She had learned from a very early age that making someone "feel" loved was her side of the transaction and being paid well was the other party's side of the transaction. It's ingrained in their culture. Imagine how frustrated she was when it became so much harder to make the same person "feel" loved. She was expected to do a lot more than that as a wife. Just go out shopping for a car and see how many salesmen will make you "feel" special. I can understand how being completely smitten by somebody could blind you and cloud your judgement for a while, but when she cheated on him the first time, it should have been game over, a should have been a wakeup call, whether she was remorseful or not.
