The big thing that would help the industry as a whole is making it so the big heads of studios/companies dont get paid such massive amounts. Yes as leaders they should be paid more but not so much more that they can casualy buy millions in cars while laying off employees at the same time. So basically 1 lower the pay for people like pete by a lot. 2 put actual people who care about games in positions like pete. 3 fire people at petes level who are the ones making the poor decisions that cause the revenue drops instead of the people who worked hard to give us what they were allowed to give us.

Reducing pay in any department of a company will lead to a difficulty in attracting top talent. Skilled individuals are aware of their value and are unlikely to accept less than they deserve. While discussing whether Bungie made a mistake in hiring their CEO is a separate issue, it is a fact that attempting to hire a CEO at a lower cost will result in not securing the most qualified individual for the position.

They started way too many projects and hired way to many people trying to be a publisher and now all those jobs and projects that weren't making any money or paying for themselves at all can no longer be carried by destiny (their only source of revenue). Most of these positions that had severe overlap with sony were bound to go away and probably should have gone sooner. As for the dude buying cars, thats his money, if we want to be upset about something it should be the board that approves such an extravagant salary while the company is in the red.

It isn't just the layoffs(though that is really bad) it's the episodes being the same as seasons, but with more timegating. And with no raids announced as coming and not even the promise of another expansion, the thought of just nothing but episodes for the future is NOT appealing to most people. So sentiment was already down and the layoff announced just knocked it even further down. Now that their hurting for many the idea we may be getting expansions on the level of Final Shape(or ANY expansions for that matter) in the nearish future is slim to none. They've gotta finish and launch Marathon so I'm guessing that's their main focus, and no hardcore Destiny player I know gives 2 shits about that game. So they need to stop this silence(using the people they fired as an excuse) and let people know if something worth sticking around for is coming anytime soon. Hell, maybe that's why they're being quite, they have nothing to talk about and they think if they just stay silent ppl will keep playing on the hope they're just keeping their "cards close to their chest" again.

Your argument is weird. So u want the devs to pump a raid every month? Salvations edge came out 2 months ago and u want another one now? Raids take a long time to make like any other piece of content. And if they don't have much to share, why would they spoil shit? That's not fair on the devs that have to deal with the dogshit over there at bungie as well as deal with"fans" like u that demand content every second. It's not pike the devs ever wanted this shit, it's clearly management amd their greed to spend money on everything else but supporting the games they have as a studio. Feel bad for the devs. They WANT to make the beat game they can. You've seen their passion. It's known. Get mad at management, at pete. The only reason they aren't saying anything, is cause at this point, anything they say will make shit worse, and the devs are the ones talking about their stories. It's fans like u that demand so much from the devs amd hate them ao much for what u have in deatiny, when managemeny made thesw dogshit decisions like episodes, less expansions, timegating, retconned story beats, a million imcubated games and so on. All i hope for, is that those devs at bungie get a good future and i want bungie to be better and not have leaderahip like pete paraon in it. My last worry is content at this point and so should yours.

@@hexmusicofficial Zackphy never said he wanted 'a new raid now' he is saying that in the past Bungie laid out a set release schedule for content that we all knew was coming up. We knew that every 3 months we would get bigger pve content such as a dungeon or raid. Now that episodes have released I don't think they have ever mentioned if we will still be seeing that level of content drop which means that players have nothing to look forward to play and they will stop playing because less content is not appealing. I am assuming after all the layoffs we will definitely be seeing much less content created for the game which is unfortunate. Also I am honestly not sure where they can even take the narrative and I don't believe the narrative will every come close to topping the final shape ever.

@@SpaceXPeekedツ and i get what your saying. but they have in a lot of the sense, communicated to us what they are planning on, and what they have to show. they've told us in twids and twitter posts what they have next, like how they had said how they are working on an exotic mission that is a lot different from what we expect. they've mentioned the other episodes, that i expect to be better than this season. and while i understand people's frustrations about this current season, as i agree, this one is not good by any stretch, the other ones at least have a story and concepts that are at least more interesting than this one. hell, i wouldn't even mind a story with the vex in it, but they gave us a villain we don't care about and a story that doesn't have impact. and i can understand why people are bothered with that and have a problem with all that. But with all this being said, it's not fair to say they haven't communicated with us or given us anything to be excited for. Along with all this, i'm more surprised that people are placing such hard judgment on bungie with this current season, when a lot more people should've expected something like this to happen, where a void would be made after the final shape. the final shape was our endgame. the main villain of 10 years is dead, what now? would you rather it be a moment where they say "sike, the witness was really alive and ran away"? It's the endgame effect. marvel is just as much struggling with getting a new story rolling and it's not working for them because they have no bigger villain than thanos. they could probably dig deep and do someone like galactis, but they'd have to do the whole set up for it. this is where destiny is currently at. the set up, and i'm not expecting the action to be high atm. i'm hoping by the next expansion, or whatever the next major content is, that the building blocks of a new villain or crisis is developing. my expectation for this year is to clear up the last loose ends of the story we had for the past 10 years and while this current season is bad, i'm choosing to hope that the next episodes actually bring things that drive players to want to stay and enjoy. I do also agree that in the past, they have shown a more traditional roadmap on what to expect, and even though in a sense they have shown us SOME stuff with their last stream they had where they showed revenant and heresy, it wasn't to the same scale as in the past. my hope is that soon, they show more information on what they plan to release, like how they said they'd make a stream in august talking more about frontiers specifically. My assumption now is that that's going to get held back a bit because of the layoffs. regardless, to me bungie has been communicating to us, maybe not to the level in the past. i can agree in that, but i find it unfair to say that they aren't at all. they've been pretty clear with us since into the light and i'm not expecting them to be ready to show everything all at once. i hope they can show us more stuff soon, but i'm not in a need or rush to see stuff exactly right now. all i hope is that the next episode is better. and if not, then that's when concerns will be raised a lot higher than right now. for me right now, the main problem is management, and how they are handling this game, and the fault of devs for having to do what their being told to do from the top brass. i know for a fact that they just want to make a game they love and enjoy. and with this whole drama happening, i think the last thing we should even worry about, is getting angry at them because a raid isn't coming soon in a month.
@hexmusicofficial

@@youraveragehotdog6836 huh? I'm not shutting down any criticism. his argument is that bungie hasn't been telling us anything and that he expects big content after big content, after we got the biggest amount of content from tfs. I don't even like this season, but i pretty much expected this season to be bad, because it's a pattern that bungie has where the first season or expansion is bad. remember curse of osiris? remember the first season that came with warmind? remember season of defiance when lightfall came out? I'm not saying i want bad content. i want good content like any other player, but it's not fair or justifiable to say "bungie bad because their not giving me a raid in 3 months after the expansion launch, which came with a raid." Also, so many people have said that tfs is probably one of the best, if one of the top 3 favourite expansions they've played. look at a large majority of the destiny youtubers out there. they say the same sentiment. You can dislike it if u like, that's your choice, i just don't agree with u, along with a large majority of the playerbase. "Why should we take a knee and just enjoy the game, people like YOU are the reason this game has so many lows nowadays". I'm the reason? i didn't make season of defiant or season of the deep. i didn't make curse of osiris. i skipped season of defiant. i really dislike the practices bungie was running because of activision. i didn't start any of these problems. that was upper management. hell even now i'm still critical over bungie right now, but with me, i'm critical at people like pete who is ruining a company that made one of the best dlc's that's come out in a while and did a big redemption arc with into the light. bungie was riding well. they were doing great. and scumbags like him have made problems within the studio a lot worse. i want the game to be good. the game is at a shaky state, but i'm not going to hate the devs or say bungo bad. because i know they CAN be good. but at the moment, there's lots of problems that need to be fixed, and as far as i've read, they are, at least in some small sense, trying to get fixed with supposed rumors like how sony is sliding into the company and taking over. maybe this is what bungie needs, idk. maybe this is the end. idk. i'm just as unaware as any of us. but all i really want is both the game to be good, and for the devs to be cared for. so no, i don't eat slop, i fucking think. sorry that i do that. idek why your defending the guy as hard as u are. is he your friend? did he tell u i cyberbullied him and u felt compelled to tell me off? sorry i suppose? also, if bungie paid me, that'd be cool. idk how being paid is a bad thing. money is money. money's tight in this day and age.

that first scentence really sums it up, the new generation of gamers are a bunch of social media and tiktok addicted kids that need their dopamine hit every 5 minutes or they'll get bored. The appreciation of the briliance of this season and the ending of the light and darkness saga is already forgotten even thought the creating of all that probably took bungie months if not years. The idea that management is the problem is wrong, the gaming community is the problem. Well when you play a single game for 7 years and the game refuses to evolve in any substantial way you cant really blame people for getting bored. As much as i love destiny (have 5000 hours on it) it can get pretty tiring grinding the same things over and over especially since most activities arent regularly updated like strikes we get 2 per year and theres really no reason to run them aside from story mission, pvp is just now starting to get new content after like a 3 year drought, gambit is pretty much dead, raids which are the best thing in destiny come out once a year. Seasonal activites are all somewhat identical aside from something like the coil which switched things up and was a welcomed change but it just isnt enough. You cant expect people to play a game forever if the content is not there.

If they're worried about money supposedly then honestly it's for the best if they don't release these content packs or frontiers or whatever because then they'll jist be spending more money than they'll get back since most of the playerbase will be gone or not willing to spend money for whatever it is. Best case scenario is to just let the episodes play out and end it, stop trying to keep the game running when eventually it's gonan end no matter what. Move on to newer stuff. Thank God d3 isn't/was never confirmed because honestly we don't need another one and even if we did get it they will need to change everything however they won't because the players who worship this game will complain that it's diffirent. Then they'll just go back to complaining about the same problems over and over and over... all because they get attention from it and they feel empowered.

The lower-level devs and development leaders deserve every single prop in making Destiny the best they can, even if they do make some odd decisions. It’s always the goddamn execs that ruin the game by not giving both time and manpower to the actual people who make Bungie what it is

I think people are just over the game, lightfall in terms of numbers outperformed tfs and the player drop off after 2 or 3 weeks of tfs was massive. There just isn't much they can do with the game mixed with the terrible company practices, it's either destiny 3 or the game will rot away over a good while. Because trust me, without an expansion all these people saying "the game won't die lmao" are gonna eat their words, this game is built on expansions since D1 day 1

Why does this situation feel like Destiny will actually die within the next year or two? Like the first round of lay offs I felt like they had one more chance and that was TFS had to be awesome or that’s it. Now it looks like that doesn’t matter anymore. It’s like if Forsaken came out now and Activion splitted but kept Destiny 2, that’d be a dying moment for the game

I always pre-ordered and bought the annual pass, Final Shape was the first time I waited for the launch to see how it was received, even then I bought the standard edition, once I got through the story and worked through the content I was back to what I used to do, login on Tuesday to see what was available for dust see if there was anyone I felt like doing a little grind with or help, if not play something else. Playing something else seems to be pretty much what I'm doing now, the game has just fell into the same boring cycle, episodes are seasons by another name.

James 1:14-15 but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath concieved, it bringeth for sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. This time it was a lust for money and those cars, and death comes soon after. Its not all doom and gloom though, as in the next verses it is described that every good gift is from above. You do not pay 3.6 billion for a franchise and its game developer and stay absolutely silent on its future. Yet Sony has. Unfortunately Parsons left Destiny 2 in a very bad position. No updates or revamps to core parts of the game for literally years. PVP, Strikes, Gambit and Planets left the way they were from the day they dropped. No plan for a D3, no preparitory work on a D3. Instead the effort went into Marathon that had a tentative release sometime in late 2024. A playerbase angry after repeatedly being lied to by Parsons on doing better by the game with more content, more depth to that content, playability concerns after repeated crashes, and players concerns on Destinys future from 2019 until it all imploded July 2023. So Sony has an unfinished game in Marathon and Destiny 2 needing a major update to it core parts. Plus a plan for a direction the franchise can go in. All a major investment for Sony. Who has remained silent on the franchises future. So Sony is either pulling a Parsons like move and eeking the last bucks from the game or they are as inept as Bungies fearless leader on how to save it.

Sony hasnt said anything because one of the conditions Bungie put on their contract was for them to remain independent even though they are technically owned by Sony. Sony didnt buy Bungie to help them make destiny better infact im sure no sony devs are laying a finger on that game. Sony bought them cause they wanted Bungie's help at making live service games and obviously wanted a piece of the destiny pie but they arent responsible for what is happening so why would they make a statement?

People are stupid. The entire gaming industry and tech in general are going through a correction for over hiring, and I guess most gamers don't know how business works. It sucks that there are layoffs, but they are jobs that wouldn't have been there at all if COVID hadn't created a bubble and the industry had believed it was real growth. Honestly, gamers need to go and look at all of tech, and realize that Bungie isn't unusual. If anything, you should be big mad at the companies that are laying people off after over hiring because they want to juice profits. Those are the real bad guys.

I think the criticism is moreso coming from a point of frustration over how management ruined the game. They wouldn't have needed to lay people off if they didn't get into financial trouble by overexpanding into clearly unprofitable genres. The tilting away from quality towards copying other monetization schemes has been 100% a fault of management. The efforts of management to lower the amount of quality in favor of drip feeding have been, surprise, the fault of management

I seriously doubt D3 is canceled. Christopher Barrett (lead Dev for Taken King and Forsaken) was pulled from the Marathon promotion he got (because of his great work on Forsaken) right around the time Bungie announced the Final Shape delay. Although Barrett is personally a asshole, he has led development on some of bungie's best content. This would be another reason for Catarina leaving (no reason to keep her on, if Barrett is back working on Destiny) Watch his linkden,, If it changes to Sony or somewhere else. If so, then I'd say D3 is dead/shelved. Other than that I'd expect a D3 teaser in a month or two.
