Hyuna and E’Dawn both said they spoke about the consequences with each other before revealing their relationship...E’Dawn said he spoke to the Pentagon members before revealing it too. Ppl were accusing Hyuna of sexually harassing him during Triple H promotion so I think they were fed up with it and wanted to be honest. I understand fans spend time and money on their faves but I can’t fathom how it makes them believe that they are entitled to controlling their idol’s life...

Hyuna has a name for herself but Pentagon is kinda unknown. They are also idols the company basically creates this like little fantasy for these fans who spend their money on them. Finally someone I can agree with on the issue. I personally have no problems with idols dating, but I understand there is a difference between Kpop and Western music. It is also not correct to just say "they are not real fans". When 90% of the "fans" supporting Hyuna on twitter has probably never bought her or Pentagon's album or streamed their songs. What right do we have to tell ppl who has actually put efforts to support them that they are not fans. Also we have to understand that one is not entitled to be a fan forever. It's a cultural difference in perception. People in the western world often bristle at the level of control agencies have on idols in Korea. They tend to see that level of control (if you can date, if it's made public, etc.) as a borderline human rights violation or too invasive to an individual. It can be hard for people in the west to understand idol culture in that idols are expected to be in a constant state of 'gratefulness' for the 'position they've been given' and are expected to appear to remain forever 'available', focused, and committed to their fans as a tangible expression of that gratefulness. It's not necessarily a black/white, right/wrong situation. It's differences in cultural perception. Just one opinion in a sea of many.

If I remember correctly, his relationship was Lowkey(?) and when they got married knetz were just about ready to kick him out of the country. I agree with Edward's opinion. I think more international fan's are not ok with the relationship with an idol group and their fan's obviously because they're not used to the K-pop idol "culture". Even fan's that no longer stan a group were once one of their biggest fan's. They might have led them to success. I don't think what happened to pentagon or e'dawn was fair, especially when pentagon were becoming more successful. I'm not bashing hyuna, but maybe it wasn't the time to tell the K-pop world about her relationship with E'dawn. 👌

Thank you Edward! These are the points I've been making. I love Hyuna, but I was really pissed cause she confirmed something that wouldn't affect HER too much but would hurt E'Dawn so much and by extension, 9 other people. I saw it as really selfish. Especially to do it after Cube's statement and therefore humiliating the company. When I try to say this people think I'm hating Hyuna or condoning dating bans or whatever which I'm not. But things are the way they are in Korea and I'm not gonna act like her actions don't have these consequences.

I get the "reason" why Cube "kicked them out" but honestly, after all, the agency is the one to blame. They decided to just deny the rumors right away and probably didn't even check with Hyuna and E'Dawn. If they had talked to them, maybe they could get to an agreement of keeping it a secret for a little more time or to just confirm everything. Even if they confirmed, it would cause a less bad impression of all this mess (not a good impression because some fans are gonna be hella mad no matter what). But anyway all of that already happened and they decided to go against the agency and confirm it, but I still think that Cube could have dealt with that in a better way, but they decided to just hide Hyuna and E'Dawn in their basement and see what happen and, obviously, the reaction was terrible. So anyway it's Cube's falt! They are just proving how terrible of an agency they are and well, BTOB is not going to promote for some time since the members are starting to go to the military, so Cube, watch your back or you gonna die soon.

I kinda think that denying would be a natural reaction of any company protecting a growing group. Its not that they dont allow, its more that they know how easily a young group can break. Not even just the fans leaving but also the big press around it and that can influence in brand investing in them because sadly its considered scandal press so the group is more unlikely to be booked for a CF or other brand deal. They simply protect a whole group from the falling into this limbo. Of course the situation wasnt well handled, but I totally understand why an agency would react like that with a rookie group.

+Athos Drumond In this type of situation, Hyuan and E'dawn are the ones at fault. It's clear they didnt tell Cube they were gonna announce their relationship to the public. Cube wouldn't have denied it if they were gonna confirm it right away. Idols are in no position to make decisions on their own. It's obvious Cube was trying to protect their rising group from scandals so denying it was the right move from a business/marketing perspective. They brought this upon themselves.

In the end we don't completely know, what was known from cube's side and what was really discussed and what not. the only thing that is clear is that the couple decided to speak out over what is written in their contract. I understand their urge to tell the fans the the truth and its an emotional matter, as well as how the fans react to it. tho from law perspective for one and business perspective the couple breached their contract.

i think that is not fully hyunas' "fault". Since they allegedly are still together that means the decision was taken by both of them. If Hyuna would've done this behind e'dawns back without him knowing,with the outcome that it clearly had on them,Pentagon and cube ,I don't think they would've still been together, or at least he would've said something about it, probably they weren't expecting this much of a fuss to be made about it. I also think it could've been handled better by cube,I'm not buying the 'broken trust' card since they back paddled on their statement after seeing that the damage control they were trying to do by "kicking" them out backfierd, doing even more damage to their stocks..plus both hyuna and edawn found out through articles about it.

I’m glad you made this point. The fact is they went against the company they are contracted too, essentially the boss telling them don’t do this it’ll ruin your career and the company image but they did it anyway so it’s kind of logical to kick them out. Most of the people that are angry are western fans saying let them date, well they have been dating all this time, it’s not about letting them date or not it’s about if you want to be an idol there is certain sacrifices you have to make, like keeping your personal life private. I don’t think western fans have fully understood the concept of being an idol. Still I hope they can learn from their mistakes and make more music because they are both talented individuals.
