My Thoughts On Lidia Sobieska! - Tekken 8

I haven't gone through everything with a fine toothed comb yet, but I get the feeling that her niche is in controlling neutral. It feels like a higher amount of her moves jail versus other characters, and of course she has built-in rush down that forces the opponent into mix-up defense. Political Storm is entirely guaranteed if the first hit hits, not even on CH. I was shocked by that, especially because it ends with a heat engager. Not sure if it was the same in T7, being fully guaranteed. It also fully jails from the first hit, which is active in 14 frames. As a trade-off she has useless lows. If she had decent lows she would be broken. So instead just have to focus on pressuring people into making mistakes taking their turn.

I typically stay away from stance characters but I'm also drawn to characters that have parry/reversals and just frame mechanics. Plus, I like her overall design so I'm going to try and learn her.

There's so many stances in Tekken haha, I think there's less people who don't have stances than characters that do. I can only think of Asuka off the top of my head

@@NameTakenSensei True, I a probably should have said heavy stance-centric to be more clear. My main is Jin and even he has a stance (zen, plus breaking step if that counts). Lidia, however, has 4 stances, which takes more time to learn.

D2 is a great CH tool imo. Chunky FC df2 guaranteed into her heat game is awesome🎉

It’s not great, it’s just ok, it’s -14 (remember there is characters that can launch -14) then it’s -4 on hit, that means if it’s hit then it’s not your turn anymore and also this low does only 12 damage, it can’t be great even with ch fc df2 follow up

I would prefer old db2 from t7 that was 16 dmg and -1 on hit and on ch +12 into fc mix

I think for the type of character she is in T8, it's amazing. IMO characters that have either solid parries or stance transitions benefit from being -4 ~ -7. When compared 1 to 1 with similar moves, I agree it's just meh; but im looking at the complete package

I really like her. I think I'm gonna try and learn her and have her as a secondary. The execution of her combos is something I'm gonna have to get used to tho.

start with Sample Combo 3, it does nice damage for the execution.

@@h3artcxxk yeah I've managed to get one of the more execution heavy combos down pretty consistently now. I'm just not doing the qcfqcf2 cause that only gives 1 extra dmg.

I hear ya. But the way I see it, I was expecting her to be way too strong with no real weaknesses, just stance pressure into stance pressure into forced 50/50 etc. But it looks like she's got pretty distinct weaknesses. No super threatening lows and very easily stepped, but above average combo damage and punishment. I main Jin, and I feel like such a tier whore for it, but I just liked the look of his fighting style since 6, so having my secondary back and NOT broken to hell is pretty sweet for me. IDK, just my thoughts on her though, we'll see when I play her if I'm still happy with her lol

Nobody is going to touch her in tournament. She only becomes strong after she powers up, so that means she’s good starting 3rd round. Emphasis of “good,” not “amazing.” She has no good lows, which is a huge downer. Her best low is locked in stance now. Terrible.

I'd compare her to Lucario in Smash when i used to main him way back. They both have lackluster options at the start of the game and require you to purposefully drag out the game to take full advantage of their mechanics. Why play a light Lucario that requires you to TAKE damage, when you can play someone who is good round 1. Why drag the game on for at minimum 3 rounds or 2 rounds if you can access HnE in 1 heat to access her full capabilities when you can play someone who you know, can play at full strength round 1.

Well, Ulsan already saying he's going to main her next, and saying she's really good after trying it on EVO booth.. And he main Dragunov before, if pros think she's better options than Drags, since lot of pros already get used to drags, then she's good enough..

She seems to be able to be punished for going into heaven and earth stance despite it saying she’s armored. WTF? I mean is this real. Super disappointed.

A bunch of stances usually means an extra 20 moves or so which is nothing crazy. You can get the hang of it easily, especially Lidia who’s all about ff2
