2 things 1: the right hook clearly didn't land, the wrist of the glove landed a bit, but the brunt of the impact was clearly the forearm 2: It wasn't intentional, Joe was desperate and trying to clinch as fast as possible and the shot that was supposed to be a hook was undershot and landed as an elbow.

As a boxer myself, I am aware that in the heat of the moment it can be difficult to control yourself at such close range and it can be easier to clip someone with a reckless elbow however these rules are put in place to protect fighters and by ignoring them on such a big stage it sets a bad example to other boxers and boxing promotions so although I do not believe the elbow was intentional I think you should be a no contest to respect the rules and set a good example Edit: Thanks for the likes I’m gonna buy a capri sun with the money

No contest is the fairest result I think, I don't believe there was any intent in the elbow (forearm really), it's clear JJ was going for the hook but missed and accidentally hit Joe with his forearm, and Joe was falling into JJ anyway. JJ was winning the fight so far but we can't say he would've won anyway, they weren't even halfway through the rounds yet. A rematch would probably be difficult with scheduling, JJ vs Tommy in August/September then JJ vs Jake in late 2023 or early 2024 makes sense. In conclusion: Should be no contest

The resoanble thing that happened is that JJ went for a hook, but Fournier leaned in for a clintch but it made contact with the glove, but all of the force was on the forearm/elbow. which resulted in JJ elbowing him unintentially I think it should be a no contest and definitely not a loss. As someone who (on a small regional scale) fought some Taekwon-Do (the kickbox like kind) tournaments i totaly feel you. In the moment of the fight sometimes you think something happened if the outcome matches what you were trying to do. If it i was like here a potential elbow i totaly get you for truely believing you hit him with your hook. Thats why there are judges and comittees. But if it comes out as "hit with elbow" it probably was. Nothing to cry about. JJ was winning 2 rounds out of 8, that’s not winning the fight, it was way too early to tell who was gonna win the fight, we weren’t even halfway through the fight. Some fighters are slow burners, they’ll take the later rounds and feel out the first couple, that’s how it’s always been in boxing.

If you pause it at 1:06 you can clearly see JJs elbow hit him in the face. Now that was unintentional for a couple of reasons. 1) It looked like Forniers head moved towards the direction of the elbow. 2) JJ trying to punch him, of course our elbow is gonna follow our fist, he whiffed Fournier and hit him with the elbow. Again not intentional. Now is this a 100% win for JJ? *Not really* He did knock him out but this wasn’t MMA. Now is this a major loss? *No* JJ could easily schedule a rematch if Fournier wants it.

It was obvious that you were going to pummel him and get the win, so I dont think you should get disqualified. From my perspective it looks like JJ landed the right hook but at the same time his elbow hit Joe. If you slow down the replay where everyone realized it was a elbow strike you can see the recoil on Joe's face from the right hook. After that Joe is falling forwards JJ and his head gets in the way of JJ's elbow. It looks like it was an elbow strike because you could also see recoil on Joe's face after the elbow strike also.

I could argue that MMA guys train that i if im not mistaken, right hook looped into elbow. If thats the case and they train Muay Thai techniques then theres alot more to be said about the back of the head shots too, but its very awkward the way he fights boxers, they lean in and get clipped by "accident" or strategic move to win by DQ. Honestly dude, a rematch would be pointless... KSI literally was dog walking Fournier the entire fight.. Yes, Fournier got in some good hits, but none of them shots slowed KSI down at all, and even was about to knock Fournier out, but the elbow literally fucked the fight up for him...
