As someone who understands the science that this came from and was a scientist myself at one point, I love the crying scientists in that one shot. Totally accurate. I'm very sad that the extremely cool quantum physics underlying where particles are or aren't was misunderstood so badly and that at least some people in that community/cult have used to make the people who "fail to reality shift because they didn't want it enough" feel bad. That is the worst! The physics behind multiple realities is so cool! And makes sense on another level. Because we'll always have to wonder - how did the universe begin? Multiple realities would make that make sense - someone in another reality figured out how to make a universe, so they did and here we are. (The universe beginning from another reality is 100% my unserious hypothesis, I have never heard a scientist say that.) But you know, I get it. I think the intent behind the idea isn't wrong. Quantum physics can get super, super, super, super weird. It says so much about how weird it is that multiple realities was brought up by a serious scientist talking to other serious scientists, and the idea was taken seriously. So sure, let's ask the least ridiculous version of the question. Could our consciousnesses be shifted to another reality? Who knows, we sure don't yet. The science underlying the where quantum particles are or aren't is still ongoing, far from proven. And you have to walk before you run. We need to prove the multiple reality hypothesis is a true theory before we can begin to wonder how to get there. But even when we do, honey, it ain't gonna be as easy as writing down the reality you want to go to and dreaming your way over there. It's gonna be build a nuclear bomb or particle accelerator type of crazy complicated technology. Also, to answer James's not-real-question (neurodivergent nerd here, you can't just ask me a question like that and not expect a random comment essay! lol probably no one's reading this but they're fun to type out :) ), magic could exist in another reality totally. Or suddenly start existing in this reality. If string theory is correct, then we actually live in a universe with multiple dimensions we can't see, and it's possible that physics of our perception level can shift because of the changing interaction with the higher dimensions. Think of it like, you have a circle you've drawn on a piece of 2D paper. If you asked the circle what the laws of physics are, the circle would tell you all about the laws of physics in a 2D universe. And it would seem like magic to the circle for you to manipulate the 2D universe by doing something like bending the piece of paper and rubbing it hard so the other side of the paper gets a smudge of circle. It would seem to the circle like physics was broken and the smudge circle just appeared out of nowhere! But it was really because the circles thought the universe was 2D, when it was actually 3D and they just couldn't see the third dimension because nothing in the third dimension had ever done anything to the piece of paper before. So basically string theorists are looking around waiting for a higher dimension to mess with us. If the government suddenly found someone with magic and kidnapped them and brought a bunch of scientists in to the room to study the person, one of them would probably need to be a string theorist. Personally I'm not a fan of string theory, because if you take believing its the answer to the quantum gravity problem, then that means scientists should give up on solving the mysteries of the universe. Dark matter? It's just a higher dimension messing with us, give up trying to figure it out. The big bang making too much lithium 7? Give up, it's just a higher dimension problem. No, I say! We should research all the things! And of course string theory doesn't actually mean give up, because we could still figure out what exactly the higher dimension did to mess with us. There'd still be physics to figure out, even if it's just "and that's the exact spot where the higher dimension dropped the extra lithium 7 at after the big bang, and it was moving this fast in this direction!" or whatever. But I like thinking the answers are there and can be figured out. It's boring to blame physics problems on higher dimensions being invisible jerks.

Tbh, if you can seperate the two 'realities' and still function here, while being healthy about 'interactions with your DR', it's chill. Whatever helps you function, as long as you're not harming others or yourself in the process. If going off to Naruto Land in your dreams to kiss Sasuke makes you happy, vibe, man. Just don't get carried away and try to full-on escape there. You're a tourist to your DR, not a refuge of your CR trying to move in permanently to your DR. Heck, even I do it on rare occasions, to influence my dreams, as it's one of the few times my Aphantasia kind of bugs off if I do it right. It's nice to feel like I just get to vibe and interact with my favorite worlds like that, feeling like it's real. And while I don't exactly doubt the multiverse theory stuff, I don't think your dreams are a portal to other realities, even if all you've done in said dream could have happened in another universe technically speaking. They're just neat pictures your mind makes while bored or sorting things into boxes, hah. Tl;dr, I agree. Manip your dreams, parallel universe thought is neat, but don't actually think you *went* there. Keep your head straight ^^'

I was watching this video after just waking up. My mom called me so I got up pretty fast, I had a head rush and after taking a step or two, I fell down, flat on my face, breaking both of my front incisors in half. That happened 2 years ago. I passed out for like 5 seconds and came back thinking I had been lying there for an hour. Same steps, same everything. The steps you use for 'reality shifting' is the same as lucid dreaming. So is it so surprising that by doing that you'd NOT shift realities and just dream about it? "There's things your subconscious can and can't do" Well no shit, sherlock but your subconscious CAN lucid dream and it CAN'T 'reality shift'.

I believe in it, never done it nor do I try very hard to. If I am bored and got a free hour or so Ill be like sure whatever lets give it a shot. I think for the most part it's not so much an obsession but just the idea that the person can get a break from everything they are going through. Even if it doesn't work, and never will. Many of these communities that I have seen promote a healthy lifestyle, some even claim you won't be able to unless you eat enough balanced meals and drink enough water. You need to go for a walk during the day to get fresh air, have your body and mind in peak condition. You need to think positively and still go about your daily life. When people say keep trying, it can mainly be because trying is living a healthy life and then spending an hour meditating before bed. So I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, it is just like anything else. Too much of it, or obsessing over it can be bad and very unhealthy. That same logic can be applied to anything. If it is real, which I don't think it matters too much whether it is or not. I like to think of it like this. You go about your day. Speak to your friends, eat properly, go outside and drink your water. You go home, you need a break so you decide to shift. You don't leave some clone behind, you drift off to sleep. Your consciousness doesn't leave your body (Rather detaches) doesn't transfer to a whole other world. Your mind creates the world around you. Your body and your life is still going on, you are asleep. Time exchange can be tricky and perhaps different for each person depending on how fast their consciousness is. It's not a dream but not a new world either. You are awake, you are at home in bed but you have disconnected yourself from well you. It's not exactly something we can comprehend. Not now, maybe someday in the future but also we may never understand it. Similar to dreaming but with a lot more reality to it. In dreams things can feel real but when you wake up you realize everything was a little off. From people I have spoken too when you wake up, everything still seemed real. When you really think about how the body works, it isn't as spiritual as many imagine it to be. Our eyes have nerves that send signals to the brain to comprehend what we are seeing. At least from what I have been told in school that's my understanding of it. I am no professional here. The things is our dreams can almost replicate reality because signals are still being sent and our imagination fills in the gaps, mimicking the signals, as our body shuts off for the night. But if our consciousness, what makes us think, the part of you that comprehends can mimic those signals and sensations then it can create a whole world as your body is shut off. Instead of sleeping you are wide awake, but not receiving signals. It's not dreaming because no part of you consciousness is resting. It is all working, which is probably why when people claim to have shifted they often wake up feeling not very well rested. Which is also why it is recommended that if you succeed you should not attempt it every night. Too much of it could be damaging. Your mental state would be exhausted while your body is fully rested each night. Also too much could make you feel detached permanently from the real world. Bottom line, I think we have stumbled upon something that we don't fully understand. People believe they have done it, and instead of ridiculing it maybe encourage them to study it and if it turns out to be dreaming. Then great! We have learned more about how dreams work. If it turns out to be something else, then we can work to try and understand what exactly is happening. At the end of the day, I'm just a random 17 year old who had an idea on what could explain it and this is a KZbin comment on a 2 year old video. So who is really gonna read this?

It’s not, I have had MDD (Maladaptive daydreaming disorder) since I was 5 and I can tell you it isn’t. (I didn’t gain it from shifting, just from trauma) Maladaptive daydreaming is when you daydream/fantasize about things to an excessive amount which it becomes unhealthy and harming to your mental health and takes a toll on your daily and social life. Reality shifting is becoming aware of your consciousness in another reality. They are both two separate things and for you to diagnose an entire group of people without knowing what MDD actually is, and when you haven’t experienced how it actually feels to live with MDD is weird af and disrespectful to the people who actually have to live with it.
