I've been realistic about this whole thing for a while now. If Valve really was to do something, anything, they would have done it by now. Hell they would have made a more public announcement about it. But no, I can't have that level of optimism anymore. It's been half a decade since Jungle Inferno, 5 years. Bots have infested this game for 2 years. The TF2 website isn't even being updated properly anymore, and the only thing this game does for Valve is print money because the community has a gambling addiction for different colored weapons or shitty hats. I want Valve to just come out and say the truth. That they have given up. I would rather see them pull support from the official servers by the year's end than to continue the charade of maybe doing something. The best part about being this level of pessimistic is actually quite simple too. If Valve does do something, if they do fix the issue, then hey we get out game back and have updates again. If they don't though, every day that passes is just proof of it. It is a win-win for me because either this game becomes playable outside of community servers, or I'm proven correct in my assumption on this company.

The only thing I could say as of why Valve wouldn't publicly say that they've quit is that they know that as soon as they say that, the TF2 trade economy is going to crash *hard*. When that happens, Valve will lose money along with anyone who is in the trading community.

What Dota and Csgo players need to understand is that this lack of support will eventually come to those games in due time. Valve should honestly just remove their casual server browser at this point and slap the community browser in its place. I've been playing the game ever since the summer of 2012 right before the Pyromania update and it really sucks watching people struggle to find a playable server and just uninstalling the game. This is a truly one of a kind game and watching it slowly die even when I havent played it in a few months hurts my soul

Valve should finally admit they've become a tech company only interested in making extremely expensive hardware, and game dev only matters as long as it's to show off this hardware. They're a silicon valley hipster tech company. They do not care for their games any longer. They exist only to fund their hyper expensive VR headsets, brain interfaces or whatever. They don't just spit on TF2 - they barely keep games like CS:GO and Dota 2 around; they nearly cancelled that shitty International tournament this year. Get them to admit this, it's the best you can do.

When the only playable game mode is Mann vs Machine, you realize that's the whole game now: Us and them, players and bots, gamers and the guys who broke the game, people and code. Don't get me wrong, the other modes are playable, through other servers than Valve's, of course. But sometimes the good servers are full, or they're not playing a gamemode you feel like playing, maybe it isn't a Teufort server filled with Heavies shouting, throwing Sandviches and dancing. So you go casual walk out of spawn and... 450 CRITICAL HIT! as a Sniper or seven spin away, shouting "Nice Shot!" lines at one another. You spawn again and leave the match. "Why are these guys still here, again? For the reaction? The same tired, "Hey (Team Color), can you kick your bots?" followed by the bot kick? What's so interesting about that?" We've given up reacting to their troublesome meddling. It's just not worth our time. So we've turned to the people who can react, the people who can do something we can only dream of doing: Valve. We dream of the day the bots are no more, and speak to Valve and their fun-loving side: Team Fortress 2 has been the core of so many lives, and with the pandemic, it has become even more so. It's like I said. Bethesda and Id Software recently put out an update for Quake. A game from the 90s. They gave us modern resoultions, both the expansion packs, a new expansion pack and multiplayer servers. Meanwhile, Valve doesn't even communicate with it's loyal customers. i guess we have gotten something good out of this bot problem, it has shown one of the biggest teamwork efforts of a usually consisting of like 10 to 20 real players kicking bots and destroying them using the vaccinator, to clear the bots until the vote time is up, biggest teamwork of two teams that hate each other, the bot-apocalypse will be remembered or generations, or at least until TF2 dies.

honestly valve doesnt have to do shit. Its been awfully clear for a long time now that valve is not really a game making company anymore. They dont have to be. And TF2 probably makes them very little money as well compared to their more popular and "better made" (in regards to coding) games. so they are in a position right now where they dont even have to acknowledge the outrage because there is nothing at stake for them. People cant boycott tf2 because valve already doesnt care and it already isnt a moneymaker. But also developing and fixing a game when its old source code (keep in mind the game's code is probably still very close to the leaked one with how old it is and how infrequent updates were) is out for grabs to anyone on the internet, while also keeping in mind most people who actually worked on the game originally are long fucking gone from the company or the team, then you realize its a huge moneysink from their part for zero return since the game has its own economy and the community openly didnt give a shit about war paints when they were added and still to this day people dont trade them that often was a clear indicator that this game isnt monetizeable for them anymore. sad
