My Thoughts on the Glock 47

I got one as a night stand gun. I think it’s worth it if you never had a 17. I mean why not. It’s basically a 17 with options. Plus, that shorter recoil spring makes it cycle a hair faster. Probably won’t be noticeable. But again, my thing is, if you were in the market for a large frame gun anyway, then why not choose this. Plus, all come standard with MOS cut so you don’t have to go hunting for that specific version and dealers won’t up charge by making that a special”er” feature

I've bought one, because I already got a 19, and I wanted a glock 17 and a 45 since long time now, so I can get both with buying only one gun. this pistol was a godsent to me and I even get in bonus a 19L wich I absolutely don't need but it's pretty cool

My first firearm roughly 25 years ago was a Kimber 1911. I still have and love that pistol. That said, I just picked up the G47 this week and I got to say, I may be late in joining the Glock Club but I'm glad to be a member. I took it to the range for the first time today, 300 rds, and it worked flawlessly with Glock and Magpul mags. Plus, I got a Glock mag well on the way for my Henry Homesteader PCC. I found out the hard way it's a jam-o-matic with the Sig P320 mag well that is an option for it. I now know why pretty much every positive review for that firearm is with a Glock mag well vs. no reviews that I have found with the Sig mag well. Lesson learned.

I think the main reason a lot of people want to get one is that you can take that 17 length slide and put it on a true 19 length grip, and now you have a shorter, somewhat easier to conceal grip with the longer barrel, and sight radius of the 17. Basically the opposite idea of the model 45.

That's the thing though, I think you're right about that. But if that's the case, why doesn't the 47 come with a 19 frame??

​@josephlegacy929 i think because most of the customers already have one 19, if im buying a second glock the 47 is the way to go, it unlocks doing 4 different guns in height and length with 2 purchases, now you can have a 47 (17), a 45, a 19 and a 19L in two.

Why would anyone do that? If you want a particular gun, buy it, no point in Frankenstein Glocks. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. A Glock is only reliable when used as intended with original parts. If you want toys, buy toys.

It's funny how sooo many people are unable to see things from a slightly different perspective. Yes, if you are a long term shooter who already owns a G17 and G19, then yes, there is no reason. But if this is your first Glock, then there's no reason to buy a G17! Why, you may ask? Simple, lack of modularity!!! If Glock were smart, they'd sell kits that included a G19 upper with a G47.

I really don’t get why they’d go through all the effort to add less than an inch of barrel. The feds made a weird request there. Like if they made it where it can go from a 19 length to 34 or something it’d be goofy but I can see the length helping.

If I purchase a Glock 47 I will make a long slide 19 for carry and a short slide 17 as a nightstand gun.

I think the ideal (targeted) buyer of a G47 is someone who doesn't have a "collection" of guns/pistols. If they have a Gen5 G19 as their only pistol, and they're in the market or looking at a G17, the G47 would be ideal because of the modularity with the G19. With the two pistols, you can essentially make it into a G45 or a G19 longslide by swapping slides and frames. For those who already have a G17, G19, G45, so on, the G47 might be a pass unless you really just want to add to a collection. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah. I went the PSA Dagger route before the G47 was released. I have a Dagger Fullsize S and bought a Dagger Compact X slide. Which is pretty much a G47.

Glock "Perfection" ended with the Gen 2 G19. The G45 is a "New" Gen 2 G19 for everyone who hated finger grooves. Once you get to the Gen 4 it starts to get silly and unnecessary. Every 9mm since is meh.

Just buy a Glock 17 and have it over with. Have one in the shop. You will gain 20 fps. Glock has run out of ideas. It’s a tool.

I really wish they’d release some of the guns only released to Europe. Like the compact, double-stack 380, the rotating barrel glock variant, etc. I do agree they need to mix it up though. My first pistol was a glock but these days I am looking at a lighter, thinner ccw. I also wish Glock would make MOS played worth a damn and alter the cut on their slimline glocks so it takes Holosun K series without a plate.

@@AzayBae European variant would be great. As far as mos plates. There are companies that cut the slide and will mount your rmr directly to the slide.

@@edwardh1591 Oh I know, I just don't get why a OEM manufacturer would waste money on an optic ready line with weak plates and make the footprint for the slim guns incompatible with the most popular optics.

I’ve still never handled a Glock. There are just too many great guns out there. And the Glock numbers are just stupid confusing. There is no compelling reason to buy one when there are Sig Legions and Nighthawks etc
