What's wrong with double-action? They of course, were always around even in and well before the Old West era. The Colt Lightning, Starr DA percussion and metallic cartridge converted models, S&W Model 3 in .44-40 and later .44 Russian and .44 American, the Webley Mark I-VI was around since 1887 and one of the longest lived sidearms ever made finally leaving British and former Colonial use in the early 1970s. Many of the smaller Commonwealth countries still have them in inventory and in use to this day. Granted, Webleys in North America were mostly found in Canada and in U.S.states and territories close to the Canadian border in the Old West era but some made it as far as Texas, Alaska, Louisiana, New Mexico and Arizona, seen some in museums down those ways. Why can't a double-action be a companion piece to a lever-action?
@brianholthouse1426

@@chrismc410 there's nothing wrong with a double action , you named some great guns, for me personally I like and shoot more accurately with single actions. Most likely because I shoot them daily. I hope henry sells as many of these as they do rifles, I didn't intend for my comment to sound negative for double actions.

I have several Henry rifles. The fit and finish is excellent. I’ve always been a fan of wheel guns. The look of the Henry revolvers certainly appeals to my taste. Regarding the price I don’t think it’s out of line at all. I’m looking forward to owning one. Cheers!

I like the looks. Probably geared more at selling to people who already have revolver collections. Like you mention, between this and other brands there's no way I am going with this if it was my first revolver, but if you already have everything it's something different. Hence probably why the price is so high - people that have everything have spent into 5 digits already so these people would buy it even for a grand. A .44 Special version would be neat to see.

I think they look good but I think this was a missed opportunity. I think they should’ve designed a revolver to compete with the Colt snake revolvers. And make the barrel octagonal. These revolvers as nice as they look, they also look outdated compared to other options in the market.

I see this as for someone who'd love to have the look and feel of a late 19th century Smith or Colt but who can't afford the genuine article. I don't think we know anything about the trigger or the internals yet. We don't have enough data to know how great or crappy this gun is. I will say this, my Henry break open rifle has one of the smoothest, most crisp triggers I've ever owned for the price point. Won't be surprised if this trigger isn't near perfect.

I like the trend to go back to classic new classic revolvers. I do like that idea. The brass back strap the bird's head grip exposed ejector rod. I mean, I like modern designs mixed with old designs like the aesthetic of the old with the function of the new modern. However, I don't think they quite pulled it off. Just something about the gun looks goofy I think it's the undercut recess for the ejector rod under the barrel and the fact that the rear sights are so low compared to the front sights. Just the overall geometry of the gun. Just kind of has a goofy weird awkward shape to it. I do like the brass back strap and trigger guard. I do like the grips. I do like the exposed trigger rod but I just don't think they quite pulled it off. I would love to see a company make new production of the Colt new service revolvers chambered and 45 Colt 45 ACP that would be awesome with a color case finish and a brass backstrap and trigger guard.

A chunk of this video boils down to the old revolver vs pistol argument. Discussion of appearance seem pointless. For example this gun looks a lot like the old Colt Constabulary pistols issued in the Philippines. Finally how much of a market would a remake of the Volcanic Revolvers actually have? None amongst defensive shooters, hand gun hunters or SAS shooters.

I think they look great - like an M1877 notch-top birdshead but with the practically of a swing-out cylinder. I've had bad luck out of the box with Ruger and Smith revolvers (Ruger: cylinder freeze up; Smith Performance Center: burrs so bad it stopped firing after 2 rounds). I still like those companies (and they'll fully repair the lemons they send out) but don't consider them the ultimate in regards to quality control. Exposed ejector rod just looks old school, like a Model 10, not cheep. Anyway thanks for posting your thoughts on the subject, I'll look into the Colt you mentioned.

Well if that's the case, that's an epic fail. I love the way the Colt new service revolvers look and I got to tell you this thing doesn't really look like it at all. It kind of looks like a Smith& Wesson model I think 13 mixed with a charter arms bulldog mixed with an 1860 army with the brass backstrap and trigger guard, but with a bird's head grip. I don't know. It looks like they pull a lot of elements from a lot of different things and I just don't think it quite works. I like some of the things of this revolver but other parts of it are just weird. Looking like the barrel has an undercut for the exposed ejector rod but when you step back and look at it it makes the gun look weird. Also it has a tall front sight but then a very short rear side which also kind of looks weird

To me it resembles a Colt Metropolitan model. MSRP is around $900 so actually price is probably settle around $750 to $850. Apparently it's around 6 ounces lighter than a a comparable 686. I could see Henry selling a matching rifle and revolver set as well. It definitely matches the looks of the rifles. And can share ammo. It would probably be a decent woods gun. I would spend $750 on one, if it's built as well as I hope. I'd be interested to see if it's using a hammer block or transfer bar safety. There's supposed to be three different front sights included to help you adjust for point of aim vertically.

“Only 6 shots of 357” 😂 how many do you need? Don’t get me wrong I love hi capacity semi autos but if your carrying a revolver 6 is standard and with a 357 magnum it’s pretty adequate and the gun is several ounces lighter than a 686 which many people cart it has a trench sight which is pretty normal for a carry revolver think of all the S&W j frames that have them and I think as far as distance goes your fine on that aspect as well it not the easiest to shoot at distances over 20 yards but with practice it’s not a big ask and it reduces snags for carrying it seems like a solid option for carry to me

Yeah, in my opinion they were going for at least a modern functioning revolver that will look very much old school at least while in the holster. To me Henry's big miss is not having a loading gate on their pistol caliber lever guns. As for as their QC and Customer Service. I have one of their 22LR Levers. It broke. Probably a MIM part that lifted the round up. I called Henry and talked to the owner. Sent it in. They fixed it and it has been problem free since. So, I am not really worried about that. The only reason I do not have their 357 lever is the lack of loading gate. That takes away the advantage that semi, pump shotguns and leverguns have over mag fed options. Would I buy one of these revolvers? Well, I might buy two of them😂

@Bowhunter1300 Жыл бұрын
@@SlimCowboy Thanks, I’m not curious. Frankly, your opinion seems rather shallow and not worth much to me. S&W has been making fine revolvers for well over 100 years, if they weren’t “good”, they wouldn’t still be around. You found factory defects? Gee whiz, I’m sure glad Ruger and Colt have NEVER let anything defective leave their factories. What if I said “Ruger RedHawks had a tendency to blow their barrels off (true, attributed to occasional poor assembly practices, not lubing threads enough, resulting in galling of the stainless steel and weakening of the threaded portion of the barrel during torquing), therefore, Ruger revolvers aren’t good.” Or maybe “Colt Pythons aren’t strong and will lose timing with a steady diet of magnums, therefore, Colts are not good firearms.” See how that sounds? Just because you’re one dude (not a firearms expert) who found something wrong with a particular product or two from S&W does not mean that all their revolvers aren’t good. I own several S&W’s and they’ve been absolutely wonderful, no issues at all. Be careful with your words, be precise in your speech. Thanks, have a great day.
@SlimCowboy

@bowhunter1300 S&W used to make good revolvers now they mass produce sub standard junk. I own 5 of them and had to send 3 back, 2 of them twice. I grew up wanting to own a collection of S&W revolvers and to this day would love to buy several of their new models but won’t because not a week goes by that I don’t hear another story posted in the comment section of one of my videos saying how someone had an epic fail with their products. I’ll take his word.
@SlimCowboy

@bowhunter1300 you’ve already shown that you are not interested in hearing any other information that doesn’t directly agree with your line of thought. All companies produce lemons it’s how they handle those lemons that is more telling to me. To spend $1000 on a Smith & Wesson revolver and then have to send it back for mechanical issues twice, not once but twice because they didn’t fix it the first time and then hear other stories of people sending back guns four and five times it’s enough to let me know that my money can be spent better elsewhere. If you want to keep sending your money to a company that doesn’t appreciate it be my guest as for me I’ll be a bit more choosy.
