My Thoughts on the Matco Maximus 4.0

I like the topology layout when I worked for Chrysler using their WiTech system. It was great because it let you know what systems the vehicle has, if a module is offline, has any DTCs, and if it has any software updates for the modules. Probably the must likeable part of it is how it shows the network layouts and you know fairly quick what modules are on a given network. Especially helpful when there's loss of comm DTCs.

The big question is how much are the updates!? I love my autel elite and over the last few years it seems like every one is stepping up their game. I wish GM would take notes on these scan tools to make gds2 better!

Nice scanner. Here is my dilemma. $7000. Let’s say at most the actual scan tool software of the same caliber of the 3.0 with a little improvement. $3,000. There is no way the scope included is a $2500 scope which will get you a top notch pico. Where is the extra $1500 going? I have the max flex and I’m pleased with it. Don’t think it’s worth upgrading though. I can just buy a pico with all the bells and whistles and still be $1500 less than this

All Matco does is take Launch software, put “Maximus” on it and sell it for 5x’s the price. I’ve been on the Matco truck for the last time.

Great video as always sounds like a good scan tool,i mean no scan tool is going to be perfect thats why you need more than one thats what i tell people who ask me "why so many scan tools.Everyone have a GREAT and SAFE Independence day.

Was going to get one of these, Matco guy showed up and did the demo we discussed things. Just before Christmas 2020….came back to work he no showed no called after I said I wanted to do it…..then Matco says I’m no longer on his route.

One thing that's missing from this unit is the use of anything OBD1 so this is not a complete scan tool.

I had the first Maximus. Now I’m using the 3.0 I’ve been satisfied with it. I’m thinking about the 4.0. But damn I get sick of not being able to trade in. I use the stylus on mine. 3.0 doesn’t have the topography I wish. Graphing has a lot to be desired

I just upgraded my 3.0 to the 4.0 Maximus I love the scope and large screen but it's a traded off the 4.0 don't scan anything OBD1.

Well it's real expensive but at least it's slow and unreliable! We got one when it came out, required constant restarts just to connect to the vehicle, even if it didn't need a restart you could have data up and running on an Autel before the Zeus had identified and connected to the car.

2gigs of ram, matco 3.0 has 4 gigs of ram and 4.0 has 8 gigs. Snap on sucks on speed but just as capable, but time is money, therefore it sucks for the price they want.

Then Mike stood up and showed the world he was a stand up guy. ....I have respect for Mike The Flate Rate Master....
