My thoughts on the SLR Magic Microprime Cine | Shot on Sony FX3

Easily some of my favorite lenses, here's my thoughts on them.

They definitely have some character. I feel like they would be amazing for narrative and live performance scenarios.

Also, I mention *the slr lenses don't work well with the small rig follow focus system*. What I forgot to say was, *they didn't work well with it due to the polar pro matte box, the distance from the matte box edge to the focus ring on the lens doesn't leave enough room for a good fit for the follow focus to work appropriately. So my combo of the matte box + slr lens + small rig follow focus didn't work well until I got the larger gear. Without the matte box, the follow focus will work fine. Hopefully this clears any confusion on that.

Hey, how it handles CA, flares, and ghosting ? Compared to Sigma art or G master ?

It’s all definitely there in this lens, but that adds to the character of this lens. Sigma handles CA, g master is probably going to be better. I only own a 70-200 and 16-35 g master, so my comparison isn’t super accurate.

I agree. You want a clinical clean image for a corporate gig, get the Sigma or G Master. You want some character to add to your story, SLR magic is like a new yet vintage lens... At least in my humble opinion.

Can i use the full frame glass on my fx30?

Yes - it’ll be cropped a bit, but it’ll be beneficial in the long run if you upgrade to full frame.
