One more point. Rafts are so stealthy. You can drop something in the boat and it’s not going to scar all the fish out of the hole. Great comparison! I agree on all your points. You helped steer me in the direction of a raft a few months back. Best fishing decision ever!!

Good info for sure. How often do you need to recharge it with air? Ever run nitrogen? Have any plans to hit the rapids with it? Like a rafting trip where you could just focus on rapids and not fishing.

I think this convinced me to get a raft over a drift boat. Only real downfall I heard is the possibility of a hook popping it.

Keep in mind not all rafts are created equal. You can get driftboat like performance from a stiff PVC raft. Hypalon will feel more squishy and have less agility.
@martinorlik2 жыл бұрын
Rafts have definetly come a long way. When I got my first raft in the 90's I would get a lot of "You can't catch fish from a raft" comments from some of the drift boaters.

How big was your drift boat vs raft? I’ve got a16’x48 that’s a dream to row and a 17x60 that take twice the effort.

@mattandrus22493 жыл бұрын
When you get good at rowing you can graduate to a drift boat. Drift boats are sports cars and rafts are like a Prius with training wheels. Rafts are great because if you forget the oars you can still float down the river. Like inner tubing in the summer.

I think you need both they both have upside and down sides the only nice part about having a raft is be able to go down the river when it’s really shallow. My aluminum drift boat is light tho I have had no problem lifting it by myself onto the trailer of off the trailer. One nice thing about the drift boat is you can legit fish anywhere with it. Kokanee salmon in Columbia trout With a 9.9 The options are endless.
@reelphatties64263 жыл бұрын
Also the raft does not hold its value
@FishingTheOdds3 жыл бұрын
You can put a kicker on a raft and troll as well, both do it. The raft will go in worse conditions and shallower conditions so I disagree on that!
@reelphatties64263 жыл бұрын
@@FishingTheOdds I would not put a 9.9 on a raft you would be up in the air. Now a electric trolling motor is different. They both work well in different places. @@nicksearles3996 hmm, perhaps you should row mine , your sitting up a bit and the oar towers put the oars level when touching the knees. Very easy to row!
